The call of Plato for the politicization of the Tribe
Friday, October 4, 2013 - 7:28

"-Those who are pregnant in the body only, and call upon the women whelp children-because this is only the nature of their love. The Brood them, which they hope will preserve their memory and give them the blessedness and immortality which they wish in the future.

But the souls who are in pregnancy - because of course there are some who are more creative in their souls than in the body - conceive that which is proper for the soul to conceive or contain. "

- "And what are these conceptions?"

- "Wisdom and virtue in general. And are such parents, poets and all artists who should the name of the inventor. But the maximum and finer kind of wisdom [Note: wisdom] is a big difference, those who care about their definitions [Note: Laws] of States and families who call temperance and justice. "

208-209 Symposium, Plato

In the above passage, we see that Plato, Socrates orally, recognize the correlation between the woman's father child and political philosophy. So without much reasoning gives the following conclusion: Plato, referring to political philosophy, likens the fertile woman gives birth. And extols even saying that of the arrest, that wisdom and virtue that stands out is far more creative than others.

Mentioned briefly, in politics - probably better to politicization - of the nation or race. And do not hide even equating the "definitions of States", that the Laws of, those laws and rules of nature governing the family. Deepening not the last words, referring to Temperance and Justice, proceeds by turning inside Community calling for the emergence of a potential problem and requiring the application of Temperance and Justice as the basis and prerequisite for a solution to this.

And finally worth noting that, referring to the "definitions", not for descriptive and narrative in command of a tyrant, an impersonal, cold and distant manager of power and administration, but in those institutionalized Values (Justice, both moral-prescriptive and Social), which emerged from the Democratic Community and mark their nature and constitution of which are similar to those of the family which in turn is a consanguineous collectivity (such as the People). This particular observation differentiates visa to the Socratic word platonic "Symposium," From which kind dependence takes place nowadays between the ruler and the ruled, governor and administer.

This is because both the Platonic vision - vision (excellent state) and that the real vision of the Greek community, which had progressed to the state evolution, considers Temperance virtue of citizens, under the necessary presence of a revolving power and from citizens. In this way, Plato suggests the two sources of risk:

1. Their individual enrichment (recall that Plato had repeatedly expressed against private property and in favor of the collective) that efferent whittling the Democratic Community.
Two. Silly and without purpose "emancipation" of the person from society - State - Popular Community (individualism).

Indicatively that the combination of the two led Western Peoples in the current quagmire that losing actually own the States and made the individual interest overriding the collective and shallow sake of modern urban lifestyle and thinking.

NOTE

In "Symposium", Plato likens just the woman to the philosopher-general-but commits a social exceeded both very innovative for that time and for the present, the policy identifies with the arbitrariness of lawless power. He preaches that political philosophy can be a woman with superior personality. "Dares" and not refraining even to name the model and to present it: none other than the Diotima of Mantinea.

According to one aspect, rather complementary to the theoretical part, Diotima not a real person. Represents, however, the (pro-) wisdom, and therefore identify more feminine spiritual natures of.
