Three in 10 Canadians wouldn't vote for a visibly Sikh national leader
Days after Jagmeet Singh was chosen as head of the federal NDP, a new poll finds three in 10 of us would not vote for a national leader who wears a turban and carries a kirpan. Seven in 10 (69 per cent) said they've never heard of him or have heard his name, but know nothing else about him. A new Angus Reid Institute survey finds most Canadians say they would have no problem with voting for a national party lead by a Sikh politician who wears a turban and carries a kirpan - but a good number of them think their friends and family would. http://expressnewsline.com/2017/10/0...ibly-sikh.html |
