Happy Lee-Jackson Day 2019
Today, January 18, 2019 is Lee-Jackson Day, a State holiday in Virginia. This holiday originally fell on January 19th no matter what day of the week it was. Then marchin' lootin' koon day came along and the holiday became Lee-Jackson-King Day on the third Monday in January. It became Lee-Jackson Day once again in 2001 when marchin' lootin' koon got a holiday of his own. Now attempts have been made to abolish Lee-Jackson Day altogether, which was the original intent of separating the holidays in the first place. Well, it is still a holiday, but whether it is a holiday or not I honor Lee and Jackson.
