Default Wesnel Isaac trial delayed due to lawyer's health

Oct 14, 2015

LEE COUNTY - The trial of a man accused in a 2007 triple homicide has been postponed until next Tuesday due to a medical emergency.

Wesnel Isaac's attorney, Daniel Gerleman, briefly collapsed in court during the first day of the trial.

Isaac was one of four men who participated in the kidnapping and murder of three men in 2007.

Robert Barckley, Scott Highfill and Willard Graham were taken from Brackley's Bonita Springs home and found shot to death in a car in Lehigh Acres on Sept. 3, 2007.

One of the victims, who did not die of his injuries, testified that Isaac and two associates came into his home and shot him "as retaliation for not returning a rental car in a timely manner," ...........

Default Cleveland Trucker Indicted in 4 Murders is a Serial Killer, Prosecutors Say – And May Have Even More Victims

10/14/2015

A Cleveland, Ohio, truck driver was indicted on four counts of murder on Tuesday – and prosecutors say he's a serial killer who may be behind even more deaths.

Robert Rembert Jr., 45, faces 25 felony charges of aggravated murder, rape, aggravated robbery and gross abuse of a corpse. He was previously convicted of manslaughter in the 1997 death of Dadren Lewis, according to WKYC.

Rembert is now charged in another death from 1997, as well as three deaths from earlier this year.

In May 1997, Rena May Payne was found strangled and beaten by an RTA bus driver in an employee rest room. DNA evidence from her body allegedly matches Rembert, who worked for RTA at the time and would have had the code to the bathroom, according to a press release from the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office.

Rembert is also suspected in the deaths of Kimberley Hall, Rembert's cousin Jerry Rembert and Morgan Nietzel, all of whom died this year.

He was arrested after allegedly gunning down his cousin and Nietzel, a family friend, in September. ....

Default Police Release Sketch Of Suspect In Toddler's Shooting Death

Oct 14, 2015

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - Police have released a sketch of the alleged gunman who shot and killed a toddler inside a Clarksville home.

Joseph Bankston was fatally shot inside his Clarksville home on October 4 when a man came into the home, asked for a jumper cable, and opened fire. Police said the suspect intentionally shot the boy.

The drawing was released shortly after Governor Bill Haslam announced that the state is offering a $15,000 reward for information in the case.

“We want to bring whoever did this to justice, and if anyone has information that may help solve this case, we need them to come forward,” Haslam said.

According to Clarksville police, a new vehicle of interest has also been identified and is described as a white four-door, probably a Lexus.

The vehicle has an "L" on the front of it, is very clean, with tinted windows and rectangle tail lights that are taller than they are wide. Police said it was occupied by a black male driver, in his mid-20s with short, thick hair.

Joseph died in his grandmother’s arms at the scene. He was two weeks shy of his third birthday.

Default Convicted killer in Youngstown triple homicide spared from death sentence

Oct 16, 2015

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Nearly 20 years after a triple murder in Youngstown, the convicted killer will no longer be facing the death penalty, but prosecutors say he will still die in prison.

Willie Herring was convicted for the fatal shooting of three people and the critical wounding of two others during a robbery at the Newport Inn in 1996. ...

http://www.wfmj.com/story/30271511/c...death-sentence

Quote:
Ronald Marinelli, the Newport Inn's owner, was tending bar that night.   He had six or eight customers, including Deborah Aziz, Herman Naze, Sr., Dennis Kotheimer, and Jimmie Lee Jones.   Jones was sitting with a woman at a table in the back.

Sometime between 1:45 and 2:15 a.m., the robbers burst in. Hearing a sound like a gunshot, Marinelli looked and saw four armed black males in the bar.   The two at the front door were disguised in dark bandanas. One carried a revolver;  one had what looked to Marinelli like a 9 mm semiautomatic pistol. Marinelli saw two more at the rear. One wore a bandana, the other a “white hockey-type mask.” Herring, in the white mask, carried a “very distinctive” gun, which looked like an Uzi or a MAC-10, squarish in shape, with a long clip.   Allen, entering last through the back door, saw Jimmie Lee Jones already lying on the floor. At a nearby table, a woman was screaming. Allen told her to be quiet.  Then he returned to the van.

One of the other gunmen ordered Herman Naze:  “Give me your fucking money.” “I don't have any money,” Naze replied. The gunman immediately shot him. Then Herring shot Deborah Aziz, who fell to the floor. She managed to crawl away and hide between a cooler and a trash can. She later described her assailant's mask as “a hard plastic, like one of those Jason masks.

”Now Herring walked around the end of the horseshoe bar toward Marinelli and the cash register. As he approached, he shot Marinelli four times in the stomach from about five feet away.

Somehow Marinelli managed to stay on his feet as Herring came closer.   Herring stopped about a foot away from him. Marinelli noticed his assailant's long reddish-orange hair.   Despite the mask, Marinelli could also see that his  assailant had an “odd skin pigment,” large eyes “almost like a hazel” color, and buckteeth.

Herring said, “Give me your fucking money.” Despite his wounds, Marinelli obeyed, handing over the cash in the register. But the robber screamed that Marinelli hadn't given him everything. He had guessed right:  in a nearby drawer there was some cash belonging to a pool league.

As Herring threatened to “blow [Marinelli's] brains out,” Marinelli gave him the money from the drawer.  Herring screamed for more. Marinelli urged him to “[b]e cool” and told him there was no more. Herring responded by leveling his gun at Marinelli's head.

Marinelli reached into the drawer again.  This time, he pulled out a gun of his own.   But by now, Marinelli was so weak that Herring easily took the gun from him. Marinelli collapsed. Herring said, “You ain't dead yet, motherfucker,” and shot Marinelli in the legs as he lay on the floor.

After Herring shot Marinelli, Aziz heard Dennis Kotheimer say, “You motherfucker.” Then she heard more shots. Marinelli saw Kotheimer get shot but did not see who shot him.  Nobody saw who shot Jimmie Lee Jones.

Someone reported the gunshots to the Youngstown police, and officers were sent to the Newport Inn.

When the officers saw the carnage inside, they summoned emergency personnel. The five shooting victims were taken to a Youngstown hospital.   Herman Naze and Jimmie Lee Jones were both pronounced dead on the morning of April 30. Dennis Kotheimer died on May 1.
