“It’s a cause that the Jews feel very deeply,” said Rabbi Jill Jacobs with T’ruah, a human rights organization that represents 2,000 rabbis nationwide. “Our entire history is about being kicked out of one place and trying to find a safe place to live.”

120 migrants rescued off Libya by Ocean Viking

Roughly 120 migrants were rescued by the crew of NGO ship Ocean Viking on Thursday off the coast of Libya. Four small children were reportedly among those rescued.

The humanitarian organization SOS Mediterranee said on Twitter that its ship rescued roughly 120 people from an overcrowded rubber boat 36 nautical miles (67 kilometers) from the Libyan coast. They said that four small children were among the migrants, including a one-month-old baby.

Stockholm Saw Record Number of Explosions in 2020

The Swedish capital city of Stockholm saw a record number of explosions and bombings in 2020 despite the Chinese coronavirus pandemic theoretically encouraging people to stay at home, according to police statistics.

Over the course of last year, Stockholm saw 32 explosions, the highest number ever recorded in the city and up from the 28 in 2019 and 23 in 2018.

Police statistics state that there were 107 explosions and bombings across the entire country in 2020, a figure down from 133 in 2019, Nyheter Idag reports.

More than 40 migrants die off Libyan coast

At least 43 migrants died off the coast of Libya in what has been described as the first major shipwreck in the area this year. While ten were rescued, the UN expects more casualties to follow.

According to a UN report, the shipwreck took place at the beginning of the week when a boat capsized a few hours after departing from the western Libyan city of Zawya, as its engine stopped amid poor sea conditions.

The ten survivors found thus far said that those who perished in the shipwreck were all males from West African countries. The survivors themselves were identified as originating from the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Ghana and Gambia.

34,000 migrant sea arrivals in Italy in 2020, UNHCR

The number of migrants who arrived in Italy by sea increased significantly last year, inspite of the coronavirus emergency, according to the UN refugee agency. Nearly 40% of newly arrived migrants were Tunisians.

34,154 migrants arrived in Italy by sea in 2020, according to UNHCR Italy. That's three times as many as in the previous year -- in 2019, a total of 11,471 arrivals were registered.

A majority of sea arrivals in 2020 took place on Lampedusa. UNHCR said that 60% of the newly arrived migrants landed there. Lampedusa has long been a migrant hotspot because of its location -- the small Italian island sits halfway between southwestern Italy and Tunisia in the Mediterranean Sea.

Total reported rapes in Sweden increased last year, and the change was driven by a surge in the number of sex attacks against children, according to National Council for Crime Prevention (Brå) statistics.

UK Migrant Camp Under COVID Lockdown Amid Mass Rule Breaking

The migrant camp in Kent has been placed under lockdown after an outbreak of the Chinese coronavirus in the former army barracks amidst widespread flouting of the rules by the alleged asylum seekers.

At least 100 of the 400 migrant men housed in the Napier Barracks in Folkestone are believed to have contracted the coronavirus, which the government has blamed on the illegals for failing to abide by social distancing regulations and even refusing to take COVID-19 tests.

Bosnia: Fight in migrant camp leaves three officials injured

Two police officers and an IOM employee suffered minor injuries in clashes at the Blazuj migrant reception center near Sarajevo on Wednesday, police said. More than 3,000 migrants are currently housed at the former military barracks.

Police were called late Wednesday night to intervene in a fight that had broken out between migrants at the center outside Bosnian capital Sarajevo.

"During the intervention, migrants attacked police officers and damaged several police and International Organization for Migration (IOM) cars, as well as IOM offices," police spokesperson Mirza Hadziabdic told the news agency AFP.

Hadziabdic confirmed that two police officers and an IOM employee were slightly injured, and that the property damaged in the clash included computers and other equipment.

In Bosnian media, the incident was described as a major clash. The news platform Klix.ba published images of smashed cars and reported that police brought in members of special units with dogs. According to Klix.ba, around 2,000 migrants clashed with police and threw stones.

Klix.ba reported on Friday that six persons involved in the scuffles had received deportation orders from the foreigners’ office and local authorities in the Sarajevo Canton. One Iranian national reportedly also received an an entry ban of three years and is due to be deported.

Molotov Cocktails Thrown At Church in Swedish No-Go Zone

An attacker threw three Molotov cocktails at a church in the no-go Stockholm suburb of Spånga-Tensta.

The arson attack took place on Wednesday at around 4 a.m., with the suspect throwing one of the bottle bombs at the church’s door and the other two at the windows, smashing them.

Danish Prime Minister Sets Target of Zero Asylum Seekers to Protect Social Cohesion

Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen has set a target of zero new asylum seekers as her government’s new goal, citing concerns that too many migrants will affect the social cohesion of the country.

The Danish prime minister stated her goal on Friday at the Danish Folketing, saying: “We cannot promise zero asylum seekers, but we can set out the vision that we also did before the elections, namely that we want a new asylum system and then we do what we can to introduce it.”
