Default Aluminum Tent/Tarp Stakes or Pegs. Don't buy them.

I recently had an email exchange with the Chill Gorilla Company, after one of their "strong" stakes bent, and then broke, in my hand as I was pushing it into the ground...

Quote:
Regarding the laws of physics and the way the item is used: I agree with most of what you said. However, I have been using stainless steel stakes and pegs for a long time, and those are far more forgiving about small deviations from perfection in the angle at which the user applies pressure. I had decided to try aluminum stakes because of their lower weight and because their sellers (such as yourself) tout their "strength." You ought, at least, to acknowledge in your advertising the need for precision in the application of insertion force. I might try titanium stakes or pegs next. In the future, I won't be buying anything made of aluminum for tent- or tarp-raising purposes, as aluminum now seems, to me, to be a poor choice of construction material for that kind of product.
(Message from me to the Chill Gorilla Company.)
