Former UK Star Walker Faces Arrest For Gambling Debts

Former NBA and University of Kentucky star Antoine Walker is facing criminal charges over $822,500 in gambling debts to three Las Vegas casinos.

Documents provided Tuesday by the Clark County district attorney accuse the 32-year-old Walker of three felony counts of writing bad checks. Prosecutors say he failed to make good on 10 checks totaling $1 million written to Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood and the Red Rock Resort.

Walker's agent and a lawyer in Las Vegas didn't immediately respond Tuesday to messages.

Prosecutor Bernie Zadrowski told the Las Vegas Sun that Walker repaid $178,000 of the debts incurred last July to January.

Walker was a starting forward on the Wildcats' 1996 NCAA Championship-winning team.

Walker last played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2008. He was an All-Star with the Boston Celtics and won an NBA championship in 2006 with the Miami Heat.

Don't think it could happen to Oprah? We'll see.

Ex-Kentucky player charged in ticket scam

06:36 PM EDT on Tuesday, September 1, 2009

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) -- Lexington police say they have arrested former University of Kentucky basketball star Edward Davender in connection with a scam to sell fraudulent season tickets for the upcoming season.

According to a police statement, Davender is charged with three felony counts of theft by deception and one count of trafficking in a controlled substance within 1,000 yards of a school.

He allegedly was accepting advance payments for tickets that weren't available for him to sell. Police say three victims have been identified.

UK basketball spokesman DeWayne Peevy said he had just heard of the situation Tuesday and had no immediate comment.

The 43-year-old Davender played for the Wildcats from 1984 through 1988, including two years as an all-Southeastern Conference player.

Lexington PD receives 75-100 calls about Davender

Associated Press - September 5, 2009 12:44 PM ET

LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) - Lexington police say they have received between 75 and 100 calls about former University of Kentucky basketball star Ed Davender, who is accused of taking money from people and promising them season tickets he didn't have.

The 43-year-old Davender pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Wednesday in Fayette County District Court. He's charged with three felony counts of theft by deception.

Lexington Herald-Leader reports that since his arrest on Tuesday calls have been pouring in. No additional charges have been filed, but police commander Ron Compton said they will investigate as many of the allegations as they can.

Davender's lawyer, Stephen McFayden, told the paper Davender didn't intend to deceive anyone and that there was a misunderstanding.

Plaxico Burress

In a small way I actually feel sorry for Burress, who is serving a two-year prison sentence for bringing a gun into a club and accidentally shooting himself in the leg, like Cheddar Bob in 8 Mile. Two years seems harsh for that, because it’s not like he was trying to rob or kill someone. Michael Vick got a similar sentence and did much worse. Regardless, this misstep caused this one-time Super Bowl hero to get released by the Giants and to miss the next two seasons of football relatively late in his career, which means he may be done for good.

A little humor

Maurice Clarett

Clarett had one of the best freshman years ever as he led Ohio State to a championship. Because of the NFL’s age rules, he was not eligible to be drafted. So he sued. And he partied. And he got arrested. Then he got drafted, didn’t make the team, got arrested for armed robbery and is now in prison. Check out his blog.

Rae Carruth

This Carolina Panther tried to have his pregnant girlfriend killed. Was captured in the trunk of his car with $3900 in cash, bottles to hold his urine, extra clothes, candy bars, and a cell phone.

Dwight Gooden

Gooden was one of the most dominant NL pitchers in the middle and late 1980s, but his career declined because of drug and alcohol abuse. After he retired, he was arrested for drunk driving, hitting his girlfriend, another DWI, probation violation, and he served time in prison.

Eddie Griffin

Crashed his car while watching porn and playing with himself while drunk. “Anal Action” and “Privates” were the two porn titles cited in a lawsuit against him. In March 2007, Griffin was released by the Timberwolves, who had grown tired of his attitude and off-court troubles. Later that year, Houston police said Griffin, who was drunk, ignored a railroad warning and went through a barrier before striking a moving train and burned to death. He is survived by a daughter named Amaree.

Chris Henry

This Bengal has done so many stupid things that an entire article could be devoted to it. He’s been in trouble for drugs, guns, DWI, providing alcohol to minors, on-the-field problems, assault, probation violation and the list goes on.

Travis Henry

This footballer has fathered at least 11 children among 10 different women, has had on-going problems making his child support payments, and this: In July, 2009, Henry was sentenced to three years in federal prison for financing a cocaine trafficking operation.

Tank Johnson

Johnson has been in trouble for guns, assault, resisting arrest, probation violation, and has served time in jail.

Marion Jones

Yes, female athletes do stupid things, too. Jones won five medals at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, but had to forfeit all medals and prizes dating back to September 2000 after admitting that she took performance-enhancing drugs. But that’s not all. She also lied to two grand juries, and had to serve six months in prison. She was also involved in a check fraud scheme.

Pacman Jones

Another guy with a long rap sheet. He’s been in trouble for assault, disorderly conduct, something to do with drugs and shootings, and a problem with a Las Vegas exotic dancer, amongst other things.

Jamal Lewis

During an otherwise fine professional football career, Lewis was charged in 2004 with conspiring to possess with the intent to distribute five kilograms of cocaine, and served four months in prison.

Dexter Manley

A great football player for the Washington Redskins, Manley was on two Super Bowl winning teams. Later, we found out he was illiterate, despite going to Oklahoma State University for four years. He got banned from the NFL for failing multiple drug tests, and had drug problems after he left the league.

Nate Newton

If at first you don’t succeed try try again.
That is the mantra former All-Pro offensive lineman Nate Newton lives by when it comes to using cargo vans to transport hundreds of pounds of pot.
In 2001 Newton was busted with 213 pounds of the sticky icky in Louisiana, then weeks later while free on bail Newton was busted again in a van with 175 pounds of weed.

Donte Stallworth

DUI. Killed someone. Served 30 days of jail time. Suspended for a season.

Darryl Strawberry

Child support problems, arrested for soliciting a prostitute, arrested for a hit-and-run, drugs, and served time in prison.

O.J. Simpson

Starred in some really bad movies, amongst other things.

Mike Tyson

Convicted of rape, drug problems, assault problems, bit an opponent’s ear, went bankrupt after earnings of $300 mil … you name it.

Marcus Vick

Mike’s younger brother who had two criminal convictions while quarterback at Virginia Tech, not to mention traffic arrests. After he left Virginia Tech and failed to make it in the NFL (with the Dolphins), he got in trouble for brandishing a firearm against a group of people, was involved in a civil lawsuit involving sex with a juvenile, more traffic arrests and seven additional convictions, a DUI, eluding police, driving on the wrong side of the road. Most recently, he’s been in trouble for marijuana. No problems with dog-fighting, though.

Michael Vick

Drug problems and financed a dog fighting ring. Served time in prison, and now he’s back with the Philadelphia Eagles

Antoine Walker

This longtime Celtic was arrested for suspicion of drunk driving at Miami Beach in 2009, and was charged with three felony counts of writing bad checks related to gambling debts he had incurred at three Las Vegas casinos. Walker was arrested on at Harrah’s Casino in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada on charges stemmed from over $800,000 in gambling debts.

Jayson Williams

Since his retirement from the NBA due to injuries, Williams has famously been involved in the shooting death of a limo driver at his home. He was also stunned with a taser by police after becoming violent at a N.Y. hotel room, and later got into an altercation at a bar. Next up: A retrial for the limo driver manslaughter charge, which could get him 10 years.

Ricky Williams

This guy sounds more like a hippie than an average dumb football player with four kids by three different women. He’s a vegetarian, a supporter of PETA, a yoga instructor, a Hindu. Oh yeah, he’s a big marijuana user, and has been in trouble and suspended from the NFL multiple times for that. He also signed a ridiculous contract when he came into the league, which was largely incentive-laden, with most of them requiring higher than top-level production to attain.

Andre Dawson

Sometimes it might not be what you do, but what you say that counts. And poor Andre Dawson, might not have meant to say "I wan' all dem kids to do what I do, to look up to me. I wan' all the kids to copulate me." Double take time... copulate? Did he really say he wants all the kids to engage in sexual intercourse with him? Now we know what was on Andre's mind that day. The good news is that he's never been convicted of child molestation.

Ricky Williams

Smoking too many joints got this fellow on the list. Ricky Williams just couldn't lay off the whacky tabacky it looks like. He missed 2 NFL seasons because of it. Sure there are arguments on if marijuana should be decriminalized. But that's not what this list is here for. Ricky had to move up to Canada where it basically is legal to play in the CFL. Which by the way didn't test for that drug at the time he was playing for the Toronto Argonauts. HHHMMM makes Ephman think maybe for his case that wasn't such a bad idea. While he had the munchies he got to eat his cake, AND play professional football.

Sammy Sosa

Sammy Sosa went from having 36 home runs in 1997 to 66 the next year. How the heck did this guy hit an additional 30 home runs from one year to the next? "To be clear, I have never taken illegal performance-enhancing drugs. I have never injected myself or had anyone inject me with anything. I have not broken the laws of the United States or the laws of the Dominican Republic. I have been tested as recently as 2004, and I am clean." Ok he must think we're the dumb one's. Which in turn makes him the dumb one. Nobody's buying it Sammy.

Ugueth Urbina

The former All-Star closer was arrested for attempted murder in his home country of Venezuela. “The Squid’s” troubles began when he went after five of his farmworkers with a machete and a tank of gasoline. Urbina was convicted of attempted murder, among other charges, and sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Don King

The most famous boxing promoter in history has his had share of run-ins with the law.

He has had incidents with tax evasion and jury tampering, connections to organized crime, and many charges of fraud brought against him by boxers he was promoting. Just looking at the fighters who have sued King is a who’s-who of boxing elite – Ali, Holmes, Tyson, and Lewis – and that’s just to name a few. But that is not what gets King on our list. No – he is on the list because Don King has killed two men. Not charges, not allegations – two murders of which he was convicted.

The first homicide, King shot a man in the back as he was robbing one of Kings’ gambling houses. That was ruled justifiable homicide. But then, 13 years later, he was found guilty of beating an employee to death over $600. King was convicted of non-negligent manslaughter and served four years. King is known for his catchphrases, particularly, “Only in America.” Fortunately, for Don, only in America can you have such a past and continue to achieve such success.

Orlando Magic F Rashard Lewis was suspended for the first 10 games of the 2009-10 season due to an "elevated testosterone level." Lewis took the blame for the positive test and claimed it was from an over-the-counter supplement which contained a banned substance. The second positive test occurred during the NBA Finals.
08/05/09
Philadelphia Eagles DE Juqua Parker was arrested for possession of marijuana just outside of the Eagles training camp. He was reportedly the passenger of a car that was stopped for another reason when his arrest took place.
07/30/09
Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz and Los Angeles Dodgers OF Manny Ramirez supposedly tested positive for steroids during the MLB's "anonymous" league wide test in 2003. This is according to the New York Times; a source of which leaked the names to the paper. Alex Rodriguez previously had his name leaked as well. That leaves 100 MLB players whose names remain safe for the time being. Personally, if the MLB had any credibility (which they don't), they would release the list once the government's done with it so we can all know who did and who didn't take steroids.
07/16/09
Green Bay Packers DE Johnny Jolly Jr. is once again facing a felony drug charge stemming from an arrest last July. Jolly was in possession of 200 grams of codeine, which is a controlled substance.
ALSO: Five minor leaguers were suspended for 50 games under the MLB substance abuse policy. The five players were in the Dominican Summer League at the time. They included two members of the Phillies organization, two members of the A's, and one from the Angels.
07/15/09
UPDATE: Phoenix Mercury G Diana Taurasi was suspended for two games following her DUI arrest earlier this month. Taurasi is facing three drunk driving charges, including one for "extreme DUI."
07/14/09
Former NBA All-Star Antoine Walker is facing three felony charges for writing bad checks to cover nearly $900,000 in gambling debts. The bad checks were written to three Las Vegas casinos - Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and the Red Rock Resort. Walker reportedly paid back just $178,000 of the over $1 million in gambling debts he ran up over a six month period ending in January of '09.
07/11/09
San Diego Chargers rookie RB Curtis Brinkley was multiple times shot at in intersection in Philadelphia. Police have no known motive at this time. Brinkley is a native of Philadelphia, so my guess, if I had to offer one, was someone still had a score to settle with him (gang related, perhaps?).
07/07/09
New York Giants LB Michael Boley was suspended for one game - the first of the 2009 season - for violating the league's personal conduct policy. This suspension stems from a incident in May of 2008 while Boley was a member of the Atlanta Falcons. He was arrested and charged with battery against his wife at that time.
07/03/09
Just to show you that the guys don't have all the fun: Diana Taurasi of the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury was arrest on suspicion of a DUI just a few hours after the Mercury's game. Taurasi is leading the team in scoring, and perhaps more importantly, was leading the league in votes for the upcoming WNBA All-Star game.
07/02/09
New York Jets LB Calvin Pace was suspended for the first four games of the 2009 NFL season for violating the league's performance enhancing drug policy. Pace claims that the positive test was from an unknown substance in an over-the-counter supplement he took. He admits to that, but not using steroids.
06/25/09
Cleveland Cavaliers G Tarence Kinsey Jr. was arrested and charged with a DUI. No further details were available.
06/16/09
UPDATE: Cleveland Browns WR Donte Stallworth reached a plea agreement in his manslaughter case and will spend 30 days in jail (yeah, 30 days for killing a man while drinking and driving). NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said the NFL is looking into the case for "possible" disciplinary action. Really? Possible action? For a convicted killer? Boy is the NFL ever taking a hard line on criminals these days.
06/16/09
While I normally reserve this spot for incidents involving current players, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the news that a source for the New York Times fingered Sammy Sosa as testing positive for steroids in the "anonymous" tests run in 2003. Why this would actually shock or surprise anyone at this juncture is another question.
06/15/09
Arizona Cardinals TE Ben Patrick has been suspended for the first four games of the NFL season due to a violation of the league's substance abuse policy. Patrick tested positive for the amphetamine Adderall which his agent claims he "literally took one pill one time driving back from Flagstaff to keep him awake." Of course, there is no question to the fact that amphetamines have been the actual performance enhancer of choice for athletes for decades and is why the NFL only recently added them to the banned substance list.
05/30/09
Atlanta Falcons OL Quinn Ojinnaka was arrested and charged with simple battery. "Simple Battery" in this instance was when Ojinnaka and his wife got into an argument over his contact with another female on Facebook, during which Ojinnaka threw his wife down some stairs followed by physically throwing her from of their home.
05/24/09
Miami Dolphins DE Randy Starks was charged with aggravated battery of a police officer after he pinned an officer on foot against another car with his overloaded truck. Starks refused to stop when ordered, then according to the police, intentionally veered his truck so that the officer was caught between Stark's vehicle and another.
05/07/09
Manny being Manny? Los Angeles Dodgers OF Manny Ramirez was suspended 50 games for testing positive for performance enhancing drugs, reportedly in a test taken during spring training. Manny tested positive for the drug hCG, which isn't itself a steroid, but one used to mask steroid usage and is on the MLB's list of prohibited substances. Manny claims he took the drugs on a doctor's orders and not to mask steroid usage. Even if true, he accepted the 50 game suspension without a fight.

A report on ESPN.com claims that two of the top NFL WR picks for this years draft, Percy Harvin and Brandon Tate, tested positive for marijuana during the combine. The report also states that "only" about a dozen other prospects tested positive for drugs. The same thing occurs nearly every year, and yet with a rare exception does it cost a high valued player from being drafted.
On a similar subject, former Jacksonville Jaguars WR Jimmy Smith was arrested for possession of crack and marijuana during a traffic stop. During his playing days, Smith reportedly was arrested and found to have cocaine in his system, but denied using the drug. I guess he just decided to pick the habit up once he retired, huh?
04/14/09

04/07/09
Former Jacksonville Jaguars and current unrestricted free agent WR Reggie Williams was arrested and charged with drug possession after police found what they believed to be a bag of cocaine in Williams' pocket. Classy.

03/14/09
Cleveland Browns WR Donte Stallworth hit and killed a man with his Bentley in Miami. Stallworth has not been charged with anything (yet) and it is unknown at this time how the accident occurred. 03/12/09
What does the NFL's latest $100 million dollar man - Washington Redskins DT Albert Haynesworth - do for his first act with his new team? How about getting indicted for two misdemeanor counts after nearly killing a man with his car? The incident in question occurred in December in which Haynesworth's car, travelling over 100 mph while weaving through highway traffic, clipped another man's car and sent it into the concrete median. That driver had to have hip replacement surgery and currently is unable to walk on his own. Meanwhile Haynesworth, who was busted previously for driving over 100 mph, is hailed as the Redskins' newest savior. Will the NFL dare to punish Haynesworth? Wait and see...
03/06/09
UPDATE: Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor gun charges against him. He was sentenced to probation. The NFL, of course, has not punished him in any way.
03/01/09
Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was arrested for disorderly conduct. No further details were available at the moment, however this is the fourth time Marshall has been arrested in the past two years. 02/20/09
UPDATE: Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch was charged with 3 misdemeanors - possession of a concealed firearm, a loaded firearm, and an unregistered firearm - stemming from his arrest about a week ago. Indeed, four marijuana cigarettes were found upon the search, but no charges were filed due to the discovery of the drugs.
02/16/09
Phoenix Suns G Jason Richardson was arrested after reportedly being clocked doing 90 mph in a 35 mph zone (that's 55 mph over the limit - in a residential area). When pulled over, the police found Richardson's 3-year old son in the car - unrestrained (meaning no seat belt or child's seat). The police arrested him and charged him with reckless driving, excessive speeding, and failure to use a child seat. Richardson, it must be noted, was arrested in December for a DUI.
02/15/09

The hits just keep on comin': Houston Astros SS Miguel Tejada is expected to plead guilty to lying to congressional investigators related to their investigation into the steroid usage of a former teammate while he was a member of the Oakland A's. The prosecutors also charge that Tejada purchased HGH from this unnamed player.
02/09/09
That was fast. New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez admitted in an ESPN interview today that he indeed took steroids during his playing time in Texas ('01-'03). Taking the proto-typical "I did it, I was stupid, I'm sorry" approach that most P.R. people demand today (because the guilible public usually buys it), ARod will likely get off the hook for the incident. His reasoning for doing it: he felt pressured after signing that $252 million contract. Believe it, or not.
02/08/09
Former Atlanta Falcons RB and current ESPN analyst Jamal Anderson was arrested for felony possession of cocaine and marijuana. ESPN had no comment on the situation.
02/07/09
Welcome to the party, Alex Rodriguez. According to an article posted on SportsIllustrated.com, Alex Rodriguez - the beloved/hated ARod - tested positive for steroids during the MLB's supposedly "anonymous" drug testing in 2003. This testing was conducted in secret to see if there indeed was a steroid problem in baseball and if further testing/punishment was needed. According to the MLB's Magic 8 Ball, all signs pointed to "yes."
02/04/09
In case you've missed it, both Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens are getting deeper in legal hot water. Reportedly, Bonds court documents will be unsealed today. They will reveal that an "anonymous" test the MLB ran in 2003 which included Bonds was retested by the feds after it was seized in 2004 and will show that he was indeed using steroids. As for Clemens, his DNA was found in syringes that his former trainer turned over to the feds. This should not shock anyone. If baseball fans and the "hallowed" Baseball Writers of America didn't bury their collective heads in the sand for so long, steroids would have been driven out of baseball long before this ever came to a head.
01/18/09
New Orleans Saints LB Jonathan Vilma was arrested on charges of reckless driving and resisting arrest. Vilma claims he was on his way to the airport and has no idea what led to the traffic stop. He plans to fight the charges against him.

01/06/09
San Diego Chargers WR Vincent Jackson was arrested on suspicion of DUI. While no further details are available now, Jackson was already on probation for a previous DUI. That's one way of celebrating a playoff win in which you had zero receptions.
01/05/09
World Series Champion Philadelphia Phillies P J.C. Romero, who happened to win both Games 3 & 5 for the club, was suspended for the first 50 games of the 2009 season for violating the league's performance enhancing drug policy. At the same time, New York Yankees P Sergio Mitre had the same suspension handed down to him for the same reason.
Both Romero and Mitre deny he took anything above and beyond an over-the-counter suppliment (in Romero's case, he claims that the MLB had already approved the unnamed suppliment in question. If he's being honest, then he is clearly being wronged). However, on the flip side, Mitre is admitting that the blame falls on him for the responsibility for what he took. What's bothersome is that the most common response to any sort of positive drug test with performance enhancers today is "it was a tainted suppliment." One can only hear that excuse so much before it begins to lose credibility.
2008

12/31/08
Former NBA All-Star Charles Barkley was arrested on suspicion of a DUI last night. While I normally don't report on ex-pro athletes, I added this simply because it's been an usually slow month for athletes and arrests. But you shouldn't worry about Sir Charles. If he doesn't have a gambling problem because "he can afford it," then he likely doesn't have a drinking problem either because "he can handle it."
12/05/08
New York Jets DE Shaun Ellis was arrested with possession of marijuana, speeding, and driving without insurance after being pulled over by police last weekend. The incident occurred on Saturday and - of course - Ellis was allowed to play on Sunday. This had been an ongoing investigation into the use of a banned substance often used to mask steroid usage.

11/12/08
Atlanta Falcons DT Grady Jackson has filed suit against the manufacturer of StarCaps insisting that the company did not list the diuretic Bumetanide in the ingredients. Jackson, along with Saints G Jamar Nesbit, are seeking to recoup loss of wages from NFL suspensions relating to testing positive for said diuretic. Approximately 6 other NFLers have also tested positve for Bumetanide - which supposedly can help a player mask steroid usage - but no others have recieved discipline from the league.
10/24/08
Pittsburgh Steelers WR Santonio Holmes was charged with a misdemeanor marijuana possession when stopped by police for a traffic violation. In fact, Holmes has the honor of being the first pro athlete listed here on thefixisin.net for violating the law. Keep up the good work, Santonio!
10/21/08
UPDATE: Kansas City Chiefs RB Larry Johnson was not arrested a 3rd time for assault, but rather a 4th time since joining the NFL. This latest arrest, which occurred on Oct. 15th came after he threatened to kill a woman's boyfriend, then spit his drink on her. Class act, that LJ. And still, no action from the new "hard line" NFL.
10/17/08
UPDATE: Dallas Cowboys CB Adam "Pacman" Jones reportedly entered a program to deal with an alcohol problem. Shocking, right?
10/15/08

10/15/08
Minnesota Timberwolves G Sebastian Telfair was suspended for a whopping 3 games by the NBA as a result of pleading guilty to criminal possession of a weapon stemming from an arrest in April of '07. 10/14/08
Dallas Cowboys CB Adam "Don't call me Pacman" Jones was suspended "indefinitely" by the NFL stemming from the alcohol influenced "fight" Jones got into with one of his own bodyguards. No one should be surprised by this.

10/02/08
Former Denver Broncos RB Travis Henry was arrested as being part of a "large" cocaine deal by the US Drug Enforcement Agency. Details still are forthcoming, however, you can understand Henry's situation - he has reportedly fathered 9 children with 9 different women. After being cut for his "lack of committment" by the Broncos, he had to do something to pay child support, didn't he?
09/19/08
UPDATE: Denver Broncos WR Brandon Marshall was officially charged with two counts of simple battery (against his ex-girlfriend) from his arrest back in March. The NFL reduced his recent suspension from 3 games down to 1, but now the NFL says it's "monitoring the situation" regarding Marshall, as if they intend to do anything further to him should he be found guilty of the charges.

Reportedly, none of the 3 players will face a suspension.
09/18/08
Dallas Mavericks F Josh Howard was caught on camera at Allen Iverson's charity flag football game as saying - during the National Anthem - "I don't celebrate this sh*t. I'm black." Nice. This comes on the heels of Howard's arrest for illegal street racing. Mavericks owner Mark Cuban - perhaps a bigger knob than Howard - said in response to this incident hitting the internet, "Josh is a really good guy with a great heart. He just doesn't do a good job of showing that side of himself publicly." No shit.

09/06/08
UPDATE: Both Darrell Arthur and Mario Chalmers claim there was no marijuana in their room (however they do admit to having guests in their room against league rules). And the police were called to the scene, yet when they arrived they found no sign of drugs on site - but a representative from the Players' Union was also on site by the time the police arrived. You can make your own assumptions from there.
09/04/08
Memphis Grizzlies F Darrell Arthur and Miami Heat G Mario Chalmers - both members of the Kansas Jayhawks 2008 NCAA championship team - were caught at the NBA's rookie "transition program" with marijuana. Wilson was immediately cut from the Steelers' roster. However, another Steeler, this time linebacker James Harrison was arrested also on charges of domestic abuse less than two weeks prior to Wilson's arrest. Harrison was NOT cut from the Steelers, but rather had his actions defended by none other than Steelers owner Dan Rooney.
Rooney said, "What Jimmy Harrison was doing and how the incident occurred, what he was trying to do was really well worth it. He was doing something that was good, wanted to take his son to get baptized where he lived and things like that. She said she didn't want to do it." According to the police report, Harrison broke down his girlfriend's door, ripped the cellphone from her hand as she attempted to dial 911 and broke it, then struck her. That's doing a good thing, apparently.
Charges against Harrison were later dropped due to his agreement to enter domestic abuse counceling and because Harrison's victim did not wish to further pursue the charges (as is often the case in incidents of domestic abuse).

And he wanted to make it clear that this wasn't a suspension for steriods. Just so you know.

New England Patriots S Rodney Harrison was suspended for 4 games for violating the NFL's drug policy. Harrion admitted to using HGH, which is a banned substance in the NFL. Note, however, that the NFL does not (and cannot) test for HGH because there is no agreed upon testing method for the suppliment. Harrison's admission to using the drug came from his name being linked to other investigations into an alledged steroid ring.
08/28/07
Houston Rockets G Rafer Alston was arrested on felony assault charges after allegedly stabbing a man at a NY nightclub. This is Alston's second arrest, having 3 weeks earlier being charged with public intoxication and a misdemeanor assault in Houston.
08/27/07
Chicago Bears LB Lance Briggs was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after his Lamborghini was found crashed alongside a Chicago highway in the wee hours of the morning. Briggs stated that he "panicked" immediately after crashing his car (under the influence, perhaps?) and called police reporting the car stolen (which is a felony for filling a false police report). However Chicago police claim they never received such a report. So far, Briggs has only been issued 3 driving citations.
08/25/07
UPDATE: Not like you need this website to tell you this, but Michael Vick pleaded guilty to federal charges of dogfighting. The NFL issued an immediate and indefinite suspension for Vick (but what are the chances that's lifted in a year or two?). Strangly, overlooked in this case is the obvious gambling implications since Vick's cronies admitted that Vick financed all of the ring's gambling. Vick's guilty plea leaves all that out, and since he's cut a deal, it will remain out of any charges against him. Note that the NFL and all its media stooges leave this fact out of discussions of Vick and his future in football.
07/23/07
Again with the NFL defensive backs: Atlanta Falcons (as if they haven't had enough issues) CB Jimmy Williams was arrested on a marijuana possession charge. Williams maintains his innocence in this case.
07/21/07
Florida Marlins P Scott Olsen was arrested on charges of DUI, resisting an officer and fleeing and eluding police. The incident reportedly occurred around 3:40 am, and ended when Olsen drove to his home (while the police were chasing him), got out of his car and sat on a lawn chair in front of his home. When police tried to arrest him, Olsen attempted to kick one of the officers and was promptly subdued with a stun gun. Olsen was coming off a 2 day team suspension for conduct determental to the team (of course, the suspension didn't interfere with his scheduled start).
07/17/07
Not that you needed this humble website to tell you, but Atlanta Falcons QB Michael Vick was indicted by a federal grand jury for his dogfighting escapades. Read all the gory details of the federal indictment here.
07/15/07
UPDATE: Sacramento Kings F Ron Artest and Golden State Warrior G Stephen Jackson were both suspended by the NBA for the first 7 games of the upcoming season due to their recent run-ins with the law. The collective bargaining agreement for the NBA mandates a minimum of a 10 game suspension for a 'no-conest plea' or a conviction in a violent felony case. Since neither met these conditions, they only received a 7 game suspension.
07/14/07
Miami Dolphins WR Chris Chambers was arrested for a DUI as well as speeding and reckless driving. No further details are available.
07/13/07
St. Louis Rams CB Fakhir Brown was suspended by the NFL for 4 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Seriously, what's the deal with defensive backs in the NFL? Why are so many of them getting into trouble with the league?
07/07/07
San Diego Chargers LB Anthony Waters was arrested for a misdemeanor assault and battery charges. He may have had a good reason, as some moron reportedly threw a rock through his car window which lead to the aforementioned altercation.
07/06/07
Detroit Tigers IF Neifi Perez was suspended by MLB for 25 games for violating the league's new stimulant rule. This must've been Perez's 2nd positive test, because under the rule, players only recieve counseling for the 1st offense. He's only the 2nd player to be suspended by MLB this year for performance-enhancing substances.
07/06/07
Denver Broncos DE Kenny Peterson was suspended for 4 games for violating the NFL's steroid policy.
07/06/07
Tampa Bay Buccanners DB Torrie Cox was suspended for 4 games for violation the NFL's substance abuse policy. Cox was charged twice for a DUI in a 9 month period in 2005. He is appealing the suspension.
07/04/07
New Oakland Raiders RB Dominic Rhohes was suspended for 4 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy (of course, he can still attend training camp and play in all of the Raiders' pre-season games). Although the NFL won't reveal what substance a player is suspended for, Rhodes plead guilty to reckless driving in March and was sentenced to 180 days in jail, with 178 of those being suspended. And back in '02, Rhodes was charged with domestic battery in an incident involving his child's mother. Rhodes managed to avoid prosecution in that case.
05/23/07
Tampa Bay Devil Rays OF Elijah Dukes had a restraining order filed against him by his wife after bursting into a middle-school room where she was teaching. Reportedly, Dukes also left death threats on her cell phone along with sending her a photo of a hand gun. When questioned about the incident by a newspaper reporter, Dukes declined to comment saying "I've got a video game to finish."
05/21/07
New York Jets CB (what's with the cornerbacks in football?) Justin Miller was arrested and charged with 3rd degree assault after alledgedly punching a woman in a NYC nightclub. Supposedly, he was swinging at another man and missed, hitting the woman instead. He was apprehended after a police chase. Miller was the Jets sole Pro Bowl player in 2006.
05/18/07
Cincinnati Bengals LB A.J. Nicholson was arrested on a 4th degree domestic violence charge which is a misdemeanor. Nicholson is already on a 2 year probation. He is the first Bengal arrested since the new NFL Commissioner's "crackdown." The Bengals had gone nearly 4 months without an arrest.
05/06/07
Seattle Mariners RP Julio Mateo was arrested on a charge of third degree assault following a dispute with a woman in a NY hotel. He was subsequently suspended by the team for 10 days.
05/03/07
UPDATE: Now former San Deigo Chargers LB Steve Foley has plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge of driving with a blood-alcohol level above the state legal limit the night he was shot by an off-duty police officer. He was sentenced to 5 year probation and ordered to pay $1750 fine as well as appear at a M.A.D.D. event. Of course, Foley is now suing the officer who shot him seeking damages from the cop as well as the city of Coronado. Foley has been arrested 5 times since 1999.
05/03/07
UPDATE: Ron Artest plead "no contest" to his domestic violence charge from March of this year. He was sentenced to 100 hours of community service, a 10 day work project, had the restraining order filed against him modified, and was fined $600.
05/02/07
San Francisco Giants Hall-of-Famer Orlando Cepeda was arrested but not charged after being pulled over doing 83 mph in a 65 mph zone. The arresting officer smelled marijuana. A resulting search found the offending weed, a hypodermic needle and found a usable amount of a white powder substance (most likely cocaine or methamphetamine). Cepeda currently works for the Giants as a community liaison and speaks to at-risk children about the dangers of drugs.
04/21/07
Boston Celtics G Sebastian Telfair was arrested after being stopped for speeding when the police discovered a loaded handgun under his seat. Telfair was doing 77 mph in a 45 mph zone and did not have a valid driver's license. Telfair claimed to know nothing about the gun. While with Portland in 2006, Telfair was questioned after a handgun - belonging to his girlfriend, no less - was found in a pillowcase aboard the team's plane.
03/19/07
New Miami Dolphins LB Joey Porter was issued a summons for a misdemeanor battery charge after alledgely punching Cincinnati Bengal OL Levi Jones outside the Palms casino in Las Vegas. The "fight" stemmed from supposed trash talk at a blackjack table inside the casino.
03/15/07
UPDATE: Chicago Bears DT "Tank" Johnson was sentenced to 120 days for violating his probation. No word has been given yet if the NFL will suspend him at all.
03/14/07
Jacksonville Jaguars WR Charles Sharon was charged with grand theft of a firearm as well as carrying a concealed firearm. Both are 3rd degree felonies. Also found at the time of the arrest was marijuana in a Jaguar duffle bag, however Sharon's friend there at the time claimed it was his.
03/14/07
UPDATE: Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry was sentenced to 2 whole days in prision for an alcohol related charge stemming from an arrest in Janurary of '06.
03/13/07
Seattle Seahawks (but current free agent) TE Jeramy Stevens was arrested and charged with a DUI as well as possession of marijuana. Stevens has already plead guilty to reckless driving in 2003 (and served 2 days in jail for it) and -- even better -- in 2000 while a student at Washington, he served 5 days for violating his probation when he drove his car into a nursing home.
03/07/07
Detroit Pistons G Lindsey Hunter was suspended for 10 games after testing positive for phentermine which is used primarily for weight loss. Despite this, it is listed by the NBA as a steriod or a performance enhancing drug. Oddly enough, the NBA will release what "performance enhancing" drug a player was suspended for, but refuses to do so for those pesky "non-performance enhancing" drugs a majority of its suspensions are for.
03/05/07
Sacramento Kings F Ron Artest was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and for using force or violence to prevent his victim from reporting a crime. Luckily, Artest just cleared probation resulting from when he fought with Detroit Piston fans in the stands last season.
02/21/07
A pair of Indiana Pacers -- Jamaal Tinsley and Marquis Daniels -- were arrested for their alledged roles in a Feb. 6th bar fight. Tinsley was indicted by a grand jury for felony intimidation as well as a few related misdemeanors for good measure. Daniels was just charged with battery and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors.
02/20/07
Newly aquired Oakland Raiders (and recent member of the Super Bowl XLI champs Indianapolis Colts) RB Dominic Rhodes was arrest for a DUI after being clocked doing over 80 mph in a 55 mph zone at 3 am. This isn't Rhodes first run in with the law. In 2002 he was charged with domestic battery for supposedly hitting and shoving his girlfirend (and mother to his child) to the floor, but he was never prosecuted by cutting a deal and agreeing to undergo some mental health counseling.
02/19/07
Tennesee Titans CB Adam "Pacman" Jones is under investigation for a role he may or may not have played in a shooting in Las Vegas after the NBA All-Star game. The best part of this is Jones has been the subject of police investigations 10 times since being the Titans' #1 draft pick in 2002. On top of that, Titan Head Coach Jeff Fisher had "no idea" of Pacman's 2 arrests in 2006. Quote Fisher: "we were unaware of what happened over a year ago." Nice.
02/08/07
UPDATE: Chicago Bears DT "Tank" Johnson pleaded guilty to violating his probation. Johnson was still allowed to play in the Super Bowl and kept his job with the Bears because he reportedly told the team the plan he has for making changes in his life. Amen, brother.
01/24/07
Yahoo.com reported that taped conversations between New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush and/or his family members and Llyod Lake, an investor in a failed sports marketing agency, could confirm that Bush accepted money and gifts while a player at USC. According to Yahoo.com, the amount Bush and his family received was $280,000. If this is true, the worst that could happen to Bush is the potential of having his Heisman Trophy taken away from him, even though it completely violates the contract (of sorts) he and every college athele signs with USC or any college to receive a scholarship. USC, however, could face major sanctions for this offense.
01/22/07
Cincinnati Bengals CB Johnathan Joseph became the 9th Bengal to be arrested during the 2006-07 NFL season. He was arrested after a traffic stop and found to be in possession of a bag of marijuana. This comes 3 weeks after head coach Marvin Lewis announced he was going to "get tougher" on players' off-the-field conduct. Joseph was the Bengal's 1st round draft pick in '06, number 24 overall.
01/12/07
Minnesota Timberwolves F Eddie Griffin was suspended by the NBA for 5 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Just so you know, it's not the NBA's policy to release details on such violations. He was the 7th overall pick in '01 and recently signed an 3 year, $8 million contract. So it's fine to make public how much coin you can make in the NBA, but God forbid you explain why you suspend someone beyond the obvious.
01/11/07
Everyone's favorite San Francisco Giants OF Barry Bonds, it's been discovered, failed a league test for amphetamines during the '06 season. It's also been reported that Bonds initially blamed fellow teammate Mike Sweeney for his positive test, because Bonds claimed that he just randomly took some pills Sweeney had sitting in his locker (although Bonds denies making these statements against Sweeney). Either way, Bonds has clearly now to be shown to take performance enhancing drugs -- sure, they aren't steriods, but he wasn't taking amphetamines for the high, he was taking them -- as pro athleles have been for decades -- so he could do more on the field. Puts a little dent in that "I never took steriods" argument of Bonds', if you ask me.
2006

12/28/06
San Francisco 49ers WR Bryant Johnson was suspended for 4 games by the NFL for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Bryant was charged with reckless driving and resisting arrest after being caught by police driving over 100 mph. He was verbally abusive and smelled of alcohol when confronted by the police. Reportedly, he was put into leather restraints when arrested. He has since pleaded not guilty to thes charges.
12/19/06
UPDATE: Chicago Bears DE "Tank" Johnson was suspened by the team for 1 game resulting from his arrest a few days prior. Found during the raid on his home was a card from Head Coach Lovie Smith detailing the legal limit for a potential DUI and a warning about possessing firearms without the valid identification.
12/16/06
UPDATE: Chicago Bears "Tank" Johnson's so-called bodyguard Willie Posey was shot and killed in a bar fight. This occurred less than 12 hours after Johnson issued a public apology. Of couse, Johnson was present at the bar for the shooting, but not involved (so say the police at this time).
On a side note, I have heard that more may be stemming from Johnson's arrest considering the police investigated him for some 6 weeks prior to the raid. Even though the police knew where Johnson was at the time of the raid (it's pretty easy for the police to track down and find a football player when they want to), instead of serving Johnson with the search warrant and having him escort them to his house, the SWAT team kicked in the doors and windows of his home when he wasn't there. This very well may indicate more is going on than what the public has heard thus far.
12/15/06
Chicago Bears DT Terry "Tank" Johnson was arrest and charged with 6 counts of unlawful firearms possession since he was already on probation from another firearms offense less than a year ago. This is his 3rd arrest in under 18 months. The police raided his home to find 2 assault rifles, 3 high powered hand guns, and one hunting rifle (along with 3 pit bulls and his 2 children both under the age of 3).
Also arrested in the raid was Tank's "bodyguard" Willie Posey who was arrested for drug possession. Posey reportedly had served 3 years for an armed robbery charge.
12/14/06
Pittsburgh Steelers LB Joey Porter was fine $10,000 by the NFL for using a homosexual slur against Cleveland Brown TE Kellen Winslow Jr. Here's what Porter had to say about the incident (taken from an ESPN.com report):
"I guess how we use that word freely, me growing up using it, I didn't think nothing of it like that," Porter said. "Like I said, I apologize to anybody I offended on it. I really didn't mean to offend nobody but Kellen Winslow. Pretty much, that's it about that."
12/09/06
Cincinnati Bengal CB Deltha O'Neal was arrested on a DUI after having a blood alcohol level of 0.10. He is now the 8th Bengal arrested this season.
12/05/06
New Orleans Saints DT Hollis Thomas was suspended for 4 games for violating the NFL's steroid abuse policy. The 335 pound lineman claims the positive test was due to his asthma medicine which he takes daily.
12/04/06
Cincinnati Bengals WR Reggie McNeal was charged with resisting arrest outside a Houston nightclub. He is the 7th Bengal arrested this season.
11/21/06
San Francisco 49ers WR Antonio Bryant was arrested on reckless and drunken driving charges after he was spotted driving over 100 mph on the freeway. He was also citied for resisting arrest because he reportedly refused to get out of the car was the arresting officers asked him (as well as being "verbally abusive" and "combative"). The officers were forced to use leather restraints on Bryant.
11/12/06
Jacksonville Jaguars OT Khalif Barnes was arrested and charged with a DUI after being caught driving over 100 mph and failing 2 breathalyzer tests. According to police reports, Barnes was doing 101 mph in a 60 mph zone and passed a police car at the time. He then blew a .12 on his breathalyzer test (the legal limit in .08).
This is the 3rd arrest in the Jaguar camp this season. CB Brian Williams pleaded no contest to a DUI in Sept. and DE Bobby McCray was arrested for reckelss driving and possession of a controlled painkiller in October (the possession charge was later dropped).
11/11/06
Dallas Cowboys CB Marcus Coleman was arrested on a suspected DUI just one week after serving a 4 game suspension for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy. Coleman had already been arrested and convicted of a DUI in 2004. The Cowboys have subsequently cut Coleman from the team.
11/10/06
Charlotte Bobcats assistant coach John-Blair Bickerstaff was suspended by the NBA for 2 games for DUI. He is the youngest assistant coach in the NBA, of course, his father is also the Bobcats GM and head coach.
11/01/06
Tennessee Titans CB Adam "Pacman" Jones was suspended 1 game by Coach Jeff Fisher after being cited with a misdemeanor assault charge either in the week. This is the 7th time - count 'em: 7 in 2 years - that Jones was the subject of a police investigation or a "person of interest" in a legal matter.
New York Mets pitcher Guillermo Mota was suspended for 50 games for violating the MLB's substance abuse policy - most likely due to a positive test for performance-enhancing drugs according to ESPN.com.
10/31/06
UPDATE: Shawne Merriman agreed to serve his 4 game suspension for breaking the NFL's substance abuse policy and has dropped his appeal. But he is threatening legal action against the unnamed company that produces the unnamed "supplement" responsible for making him test positive. Let's see when that takes place.
10/23/06
San Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman is facing a 4 game suspension for breaking the NFL's substance abuse policy - he tested positive for the banned anabolic steroid nandrolone. Merriman's lawyer claims the only reason Merriman tested positive was because the substance (nandrolone) was present in a "supplement" he was taking. Of course, Merriman had no idea that an anabolic steroid was in the supplement he was taking.
10/17/06
Green Bay Packers Koren Robinson suspended by the league for one year for breaking the NFL substance abuse policy (yet again. He was already suspended once for 4 games). Read the details here.
Detriot Lions DE Shaun Rogers suspended for 4 games for violation of the NFL steroid and related substance abuse policy.

10/06/06
Cincinnati Bengals WR Chris Henry was suspended by the NFL for 2 games and fined $20K for violating both the league's substance abuse policy and their personal conduct policy. Henry pleaded guilty to both marijuana possession and a firearms violation earlier in the year. He was also present in the car driven by Odell Thurman was Thurman was arrested on a DUI which lead to his season long suspension.
10/04/06
Baltimore Ravens PR B.J. Sams was charged with a DUI - his 2nd in the past 14 months (he was arrested in August '05 on a DUI charge). Police would not say if he took a breath test, but the arresting officer smelled alcohol and pulled him over after nearly colliding with another vehicle. If his 2nd offense sticks he should be facing a NFL suspension.

09/27/06
Cincinnati Bengals LB Odell Thurman was suspended for the entire season following a DUI arrest. He was already serving a 4 game suspension for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Police reported Thurman blew a 0.18 on his breath test.
09/04/06
San Diego Chargers LB Steve Foley was shot at least 3 times by an off-duty police officer. According to reports, the off-duty officer followed a speeding (up to 90 mph) and weaving car on the highway as a suspected DUI. The chase led to Foley's home where he got out of the car and approached the officer. The officer warned Foley he was armed and even fired a warning shot, but Foley continued toward the officer at which point he shot Foley. Foley had previously been booked in April '06 of battery of a police officer and public drunkeness (but the DA claim they are not currently persuing charges in that April offense).
06/19/06
Pittsburgh Steelers WR (and 1st round draft choice) Santonio Holmes was arrested a 2nd time, this time for domestic violence and simple assault against the mother of one of his 3 children. He was previously arrested in May for disorderly conduct.

I heard Plax shot himself in the ass. Or at least that's the joke everybody lays on him. It's kind of a rough way to go down, I mean after all....he shot himself in the ass. That pretty much confirms you're a dumb ass. Through all space and time and all realities you will be known as the dumb ass who.....shot himself in the ass.

An then to lose a million dollar career on top of it. And do two years in the pen. And all because you were in a state with strict gun laws...and shot yourself in the ass.

Poor Plax.

Be they athletes or rappers, black arrests outnumber whites many fold. Per capita, the arrest rate of black athletes and rappers would likely greatly outstrip that of average income whites. Since black behavior does not improve with wealth, the poverty excuse is hence debunked.

Default Martins 'skint' on £75,000 a week

Quote:
Former Newcastle United striker Obafemi Martins was broke despite earning £75,000 a week, a High Court judge has been told.

Martins was "constantly overdrawn" and regularly blew £40,000 in a weekend before withdrawing another £25,000 on Monday, the court heard.

The 25-year-old is being sued by his former agent, Chris Nathaniel, whose company NVA claims it managed every aspect of his life and gave him cash advances.

NVA say he owes a £284,000 fee plus interest for managing his finances and other areas, and used Nathaniel in what Judge Richard Seymour QC described as "a Jeeves role".

Martins signed the a lucrative £75,000-a-week contract when he joined Newcastle from Internazionale for £10 million in 2006.

Robert Tennink, the lawyer representing NVA, told the High Court in London: "Despite earning these vast sums of money he was constantly overdrawn."

Martins, now of German champions Wolfsburg, owned a multi-million pound mansion in Darras Hall, Northumbria and rented a luxury flat on Newcastle's Quayside. He also had several high-performance cars.

The striker is fighting the claim. He was not in court on Thursday and the hearing is scheduled to last for three days.

Default Boli held over fraud rap

Quote:
By ALAN CARSON

Published: 19 Nov 2009
FORMER Rangers star Basile Boli has been arrested in France on suspicion of embezzlement.

The 42-year-old ex-Ibrox defender spent a night in cells after he was detained in Paris.

Court sources in the Nanterre district said he was held over "accounting discrepancies" at humanitarian group Undertaking To Direct Africa which he founded.

The former France international is president of the organisation.

It was formed to finance small projects and help foreign nationals wishing to return to their home countries.

It is believed investigators discovered issues relating to wages and travel expenses.

Boli helped Gers lift the league title in 1995.

He made 28 league appearances for the Ibrox club, after winning the 1993 Champions League with Marseille.

Quote:
NANTERRE, France (AFP) - Former France international defender Basile Boli, under investigation by prosecutors here for embezzlement and handling stolen goods, said on Thursday that he had been "unfairly accused".

In a statement sent to AFP, the former Marseille centre-back said he left the Brigade for the Repression of Economic Crime (BRDE) on Wednesday afternoon after being questioned over the activities of the Undertaking and Succeeding in Africa (ERA) foundation that he set up.

"I only regret that the news of my being taken into custody was made public," said Boli, who spent 36 hours in custody after initially being detained on Tuesday.

"Believing myself to be unfairly accused, I try to think of my attachment and my devotion to the African continent.

"I am more than ever convinced of ERA's mission: bringing France and Africa together with a view to the co-development of these two cultures.

"It's why I will continue to bring my modest contribution to this mission that is so close to my heart."

A judicial source revealed on Thursday morning that "the investigation" into ERA's accounts, which was launched in February this year, will "be pursued".

At the end of the investigation, prosecutors could decide to close the file without further action, open criminal proceedings before a judge or take the case before a criminal court with a view to a trial.

ERA was set up to help African migrants re-settle in their home countries.

Boli, 42, is most famous for scoring the winning goal in Marseille's 1993 Champions League triumph over AC Milan.

He also had spells at Auxerre, Monaco, Scottish giants Rangers and Japanese outfit Urawa Red Diamonds before going into politics.

Default Ex-Kentucky hoopster pleads guilty in ticket scam

by Joann Dickson

Posted on November 26, 2009 at 12:14 PM

Updated today at 12:14 PM

WINCHESTER, Ky. (AP) -- A former University of Kentucky basketball player has pleaded guilty in a ticket scam case.

Clark County Circuit Clerk Paula Joslin says Derrick Miller was sentenced to 360 days in prison on Wednesday just after entering the plea to criminal attempt to theft by deception. Police say Miller took about $5,000 from two Clark County businessmen for Kentucky basketball tickets he never produced.

The plea deal requires Miller to pay $2,500 in restitution and he will also enroll in a Louisville rehab program through the Volunteers of America.

Miller, who is lodged in the Clark County jail, is accused of selling UK tickets he didn't have to people in at least five counties across the state. Miller also faces charges in Fayette County.

No more updates for Chris Henry, he's dead; his girlfriend ran over him. He's not worth the trouble for a link. Google it if you must know.

Nigger lover Pitino must have a very loose definition of book smart.

KY NFL star pleads guilty after drunk driving arrest in Southern Indiana

JEFFERSONVILLE, IN (WAVE) – Michael Bush is an up-and-coming name in the world of football, but in the eyes of the of law, he faced his most serious charge to date on Monday.

Bush has been playing for the Oakland Raiders; making it big after starting from humble beginnings in Louisville, where he played for both Male High School and the University of Louisville.

He was back home in Kentuckiana on the night of February 12, 2011, where he was stopped by police for speeding while crossing the Second Street Bridge from Kentucky headed into Indiana.

Police pulled Bush over, and later suspected he had been drinking. He was then arrested for suspicion of drinking and driving, formally being initially charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated with a Blood Alcohol Content of greater than .08 but less than .10. That is a misdemeanor charge.

On Monday, March 7, Bush was arraigned on that charge and also pled guilty to a lesser charge, after his attorney and the prosecutor reached an agreement.

Bush pled guilty Monday morning to a count of Reckless Driving, a class B misdemeanor. The 180 day jail sentence was suspended, and he was given one year of probation, will pay roughly $1,000 in fines, and will serve 20 hours of community service.

The community service hours will likely be spent assisting the Jeffersonville High School football team.

Despite the fact that his main residence is in Kentucky, Bush's attorney – Larry Wilder – says the team and the NFL will be watching his actions, and will comply with the court.

Bush is expected to serve out his probation in California, while a probation officer there reports to Indiana officials.

Wilder said that Bush is remorseful for his actions, but says that Bush couldn't comment publicly about them due to NFL regulations.

Wilder also said that Bush never actually meant to go across the bridge; Wilder says that Bush's GPS navigation system told him to take a confusing turn, which led to him crossing the bridge in the first place.
