Default A Liberal Education: Colleges Dominated by Lefists

very long piece by Kagan at Yale, a pretty famous name, and of course a jew

http://www.newcriterion.com/articles...tque-vale-7653

To me, however, the greatest shortcoming of most attempts at liberal education today, with their individualized, unfocused, and scattered curricula, is their failure to enhance the students’ understanding of their role as free citizens of a free society and the responsibilities it entails. Every successful civilization must possess a means for passing on its basic values to each generation. When it no longer does so, its days are numbered. The danger is particularly great in a society such as our own, the freest the world has known, whose special character is to encourage doubt and questioning even of its own values and assumptions. Such questioning has always been and still remains a distinctive, admirable, and salutary part of our education and way of life. So long as there was a shared belief in the personal and social morality taught by the Judeo-Christian tradition and so long as there was a belief in the excellence of the tradition and institutions of Western Civilization and of this nation, so long as these values were communicated in the schools, such questioning was also safe. Our tradition of free critical inquiry counteracted the tendency for received moral and civic teachings from becoming ethnocentric complacency and intolerance and prevented a proper patriotism from degenerating into arrogant chauvinism. When students came to college they found their values and prejudices challenged by the books they read, by their fellow-students from other places and backgrounds, and by their teachers.

No student ever hears the value of judeo-liberalism questioned at any level, and certainly not in college. Anyone who has been to college will laugh at the idea there is any kind of intellectual openness or anything but spitting hostility to anyone who disagrees with the current orthordoxy on race and the rest. The problems and failures Kagan identifies are there, but they spring from the fact that we are no longer a nation, just a grabbag of peoples, and that is due to the Judeo-marxist takeover, which of course he ignores.

I suggest to you that the situation is far different today. Whatever the formal religious attachments of our students may be, I find that a firm belief in the traditional values and the ability to understand and the willingness to defend them are rare.

Gee, which race polluted Columbia Teachers College and through that the entire teacher pool? Bless my soul, it was the kikes. Today little goyim are taught that all opinions are equal, except when it comes to worshiping jews and their agenda, so no surprise they don't want to defend their own traditions and culture. To the extent they've even heard of it, they have been taught, per jewish textbooks and brainwashed teachers, that it's a bad thing. Whites are evil racists who should die off already - that is the lesson the jews have communicated to white youth through the public schools. Jews are clever enough to get white fools to subsidize the brainwashing of their own kids. And call it education!

Still rarer is an informed understanding of the traditions and institutions of our western civilization and of our country and an appreciation of their special qualities and values. The admirable, even the uniquely good elements are taken for granted as if they were universally available, had always existed, and required no special effort to preserve. All shortcomings, however, are quickly noticed and harshly condemned. Our society is judged not against the experience of human societies in other times and places, but against the Kingdom of Heaven. There is great danger in this, because our society, no less than others now and in the past, requires the allegiance and devotion of its members if it is to defend itself and make progress toward a better life.

Still, jew Kagan's assumptions are universalist and unmentioned. Who says anyone but whites are capable of all these great things? Listen to jew instruction, whites are certainly uniquely capable - but only of bad things.

Traditional beliefs, however, are not replaced by a different set of values resting on different traditions. Instead, I find a kind of cultural void, an ignorance of the past, a sense of rootlessness and aimlessness, as though not only the students but also the world was born yesterday, a feeling that they are attached to the society in which they live only incidentally and accidentally. Having little or no sense of the human experience through the ages, of what has been tried, of what has succeeded and what has failed, of what is the price of cherishing some values as opposed to others, or of how values relate to one another, they leap from acting as though anything is possible, without cost, to despairing that nothing is possible. They are inclined to see other people’s values as mere prejudices, one no better than another, while viewing their own as entirely valid, for they see themselves as autonomous entities entitled to be free from interference by society and from obligation to it.

Because of the cultural vacuum in their earlier education and because of the informal education they receive from the communications media, which both shape and reflect the larger society, today’s liberal arts students come to college, it seems to me, bearing a sort of relativism verging on nihilism, a kind of individualism that is really isolation from community. The education they receive in college these days, I believe, is more likely to reinforce this condition than to change it. In this way, too, it fails in its liberating function, in its responsibility to shape free men and women. Earlier generations who came to college with traditional beliefs rooted in the past had them challenged by hard questioning and the requirement to consider alternatives and were thereby unnerved, and thereby liberated, by the need to make reasoned choices. The students of today and tomorrow deserve the same opportunity. They, too, must be freed from the tyranny that comes from the accident of being born at a particular time in a particular place, but that liberation can only come from a return to the belief that we may have something to learn from the past. The challenge to the relativism, nihilism, and privatism of the present can best be presented by a careful and respectful examination of earlier ideas, ideas that have not been rejected by the current generation but are simply unknown to them. When they have been allowed to consider the alternatives, they, too, can enjoy the freedom of making an informed and reasoned choice.

Only way to correct things is to make the students realize they are part of a glorious race, and have their role to play in its evolution. But that, of course, is not something a jew is going to encourage.

Ever less can students benefit from different opinions and approaches offered by their teachers, for faculty members with atypical views grow ever rarer on the campus. For some years now I have been asking students to name professors who seem not to share the views common among the faculty. There are some seven hundred members of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, but the largest number ever named in these inquiries was ten to fifteen. This year the highest number I heard came to three. This has no small significance for the chance at a liberal education, for the opportunity not only to put uncomfortable questions to the teacher, but also to challenge him on the authority of one of his peers is vital to that end. That is how things were early in my career. In the critical fields of history and government there were a few teachers who did not conform to the standard opinions, but they had a great effect, for the students regarded them so well as teachers that they filled their classes in great numbers and challenged other teachers with their ideas.

The marxists, led by and dominated by jews, have networked until there are very few non-leftists with teaching slots at any intellectually significant institution.

Universities' Totalitarian Agenda

A university that does not protect free speech and opposing views
is not a university but a totalitarian instrument.

"Universities have been taken hostage by activists with totalitarian strategies... Talk about safe spaces almost always becomes a tool to enforce compliance, and silence those who disagree."

Quote:
Universities today are very strange places. They were originally founded as centres for ideas and knowledge obtained from all sources. Not anymore. The windows and doors of universities have now been hermetically sealed against any idea or speech that is not politically correct. Any attempt to break through this barrier of political correctness is immediately treated with disapproval and is regarded as intolerance that requires vigorous silencing.

Universities are frightened by protests caused by the presence of politically incorrect speakers because that could lead to a loss of funding and bad publicity. As a result, universities seldom allow speakers with independent views. Even their own tenured professors cannot speak freely.

OTTAWA UNIVERSITY

There is no university in Canada more restrictive of free speech than the University of Ottawa, known by inmates as the "U of Zero." Its President is Allan Rock, a former Liberal Minister of Health and Minister of Justice. In both these portfolios, he was a disaster and left behind him a long, sad trail of calamities: Canadians are still experiencing their effects. Mr. Rock is locked into a left- wing mind-set which contributes to his impulsive, mindless reaction to anyone or situation that doesn't adhere to his politically correct views. For example, Mr. Rock was the mastermind behind the banning of U.S. conservative speaker, Ann Coulter, from the sacred premises of Ottawa University in March, 2010. Mr. Rock advised Ms. Coulter, "to avoid inciting hatred, not to single out individuals or identifiable groups for calumny or abuse, and to weigh words with respect and civility in mind". The letter to Ann Coulter stated that, "there is a strong tradition in Canada, including at this university, of restraint, respect, and consideration in expressing even provocative and controversial opinions and urge you to respect that Canadian tradition while on our campus". Most Canadians saw this letter for the hypocritical idiocy that it was.

Mr. Rock is currently enthusiastically reacting to the "appalling" (his words) problem of a "rape culture" at Ottawa University.
The entire men's hockey team and staff were suspended amid police investigation of an alleged sexual assault in Thunder Bay. No charges have yet been laid. One hockey player protested the "predetermined assumption of guilt" of all 26 players and the coaches with the Ottawa University hockey team. His several attempts to meet with President Allan Rock have not been successful.

As a result of all this talk of the unsubstantiated rape culture at Ottawa University, it seems that one is no longer permitted to question its presence. For example, a professor at Ottawa University, Janice Fiamengo, in a lecture, denied that there is a rape culture in Canada. The lecture was shut down by protesters on March 28, 2014. Security guards moved the speakers and the peaceful students to another room rather than ejecting the extremists, who claim to belong to the Revolutionary Student Movement.

The protestors banged desks, shouted, blew bullhorns and sang the Communist "Internationale" in order to silence the speaker. The noisy protestors followed the speaker, Dr Janice Fiamengo, to the new venue where her lecture was again shut down when disruptive students set off the fire alarm. The mainstream media ignored the entire event.

What could be so controversial that this Ottawa University professor had to be silenced? Simply, as an informed, former radical feminist, her perceptive critique of feminist injustice towards men threatened the dominance of the feminist ideology at the university.

She has dared to claim there is no rape culture in Canada, that Canadians abhor rape, and that it is not in any way culturally acceptable. She stated that "feminists want a hegemony [dominance of subordinates] on campus and that the specter of a rape culture is an ideological tool to silence and shame their opponents and to silence anyone who wants to speak against their [false] statistics." She also stated that "Universities have been taken hostage by activists with totalitarian strategies... Talk about safe spaces almost always becomes a tool to enforce compliance, and silence those who disagree."

According to Professor Fiamengo, radical feminists claim that rape is in the nature of male sexuality, that feminists want to impose a collective guilt for rape on men, and that this is damaging to men's self-esteem and place in the world. There are feminist claims that one in four women is assaulted on campus, which is nonsensical she says. For example, in Detroit, the most violent city in North America, the rate of all violent crime is 2% and the rate of rape is 0.037%.

ILLUMINATI SOCK PUPPET GOVERNMENTS FUND FEMINISTS, LESBIANS WHO PORTRAY HOMOSEXUALITY AS A PATHOLOGY

From 2011 to 2012, Status of Women Canada has provided over $5 million in grants to universities across Canada to combat sexual assault, to carry out "safety audits," education campaigns, public awareness of gender based violence on campus and violence prevention. This included $606,027 for the performance of the ballet "Ghosts of Violence", which would tour 40 communities across Canada. An initiative with the BC Lions football team, to reduce violence against women, aimed at youth from grades 8 to 12, received $541,900. Millions more in grants were provided by Status of Women for both the high school and elementary levels, and YWCA programs, specifically to raise awareness about gender violence. The "rape culture" is a magnificent fund raising tool.

INTOLERANCE AT OTHER UNIVERSITIES

In March, 2013, Professor Fiamengo was also shouted down at the University of Toronto where she stated the established fact that "many studies show that children do better with a traditional mother and father."

When the Men's Issues Awareness Society (MIAS) scheduled her for a lecture at Queen's University, entitled "Feminism's Double Standards," one group tried to have MIAS de-ratified so that the group would be unable to rent space for the event. The anti-MIAS activists claimed that this men's group was creating a climate of opinion that it is OK to rape women, which is vehemently denied by this peaceful men's group. The de-ratification motion failed, the talk went ahead without disruption, and an exchange of views did take place on that occasion.

As she was being forced to leave the Ottawa University lecture hall on March 28 at Ottawa University, Professor Fiamengo, calmly stated to the Revolutionary Student Movement protestors: "It's a symptom of a totalitarian ideology to attempt to quash dissent. You are showing your oppressive tendencies. Why are you so afraid to hear an opinion different from yours?" The final shutting down of her talk can be viewed at:
