Default Does political affiliation have something to do with haircut ?

See thread title. .
Little historical breakdown . .

- - - - -

Somehow , in the European world long hair had always been a fashion for males . .

Let' s start in heathen times . .

The ancient Germanic males already had long hair . .Some say it made them look wild and savage , that was their fashion anyways . .

To this day , that style is popular . .

- - -

. . over to Christian times. .

. . even during the Middle Ages ( an age supposedly 'more civilised' than the heathen times ) long hair was still a fashion among males . .

That more or less remained until about the 19th century . .

( the long hair in the 18th century were wigs , yet it was still a fashion to see males with it )

. . then , at about the turn to the 20th century , shorter hair became the fashion again with males in the West . .

- - - -

How the National socialists viewed it . .

The National socialist era more or less followed the world of the 1920s . .

National socialists in general had short hair and didn't grow a beard ( some say for reasons of conformity ) . .

The role model of many national socialists though was the long haired Germanic warrior . .

The national socialists made some kind of compromise ( especially in the Wehrmacht ) . . One could have long hair , yet it had to be cut at a certain length . . In other words , one could have long wisps but cut at the neck . .

Like I said , the national socialists sure held the ancient Germanic warrior in high regard but I suppose to the outside world they especially had to display some kind of 'conformity' . .

- - -

The situation after the war . .

The first generation to display long hair again after the war were the 'hippies' . .

They , at least at that time , were considered 'left-wing' . .

Yet , during the 1970s long hair with Western males became the fashion again , dare I say it was pretty mainstream in the 70s . .

- - - -

There were some people who viewed especially the long hair of the 'hippie' as a sign of anarchism . .

Concerning short hair . .

It is said that especially among the skinhead-cult popular among racialists , people shave their hair for reasons of conformity . .

- - -

What do you think . .?

There was a time when long hair with males was associated with being 'left' . .

During the 70s more or less a 'liberation' when it comes to hair-fashion set in . .

Like I said , during the 70s long hair with males somehow became fashion again . .

Today racialists display all hair cuts imaginable. People who embrace the skinhead-look to long-haired racialists who often idolize the 'ancient Germanic warrior'-look ..

Again . . what do you think . .?

Should certain hairstyles be associated with certain political 'sides' . .?

Or beard-styles ?

I had a friend some years ago who at first was a metalhead, as their called.

He later turned to the skinhead cult and pretty much only listened to bands like Screwdriver, Bound for Glory after that. When I asked him why he cut his hair and changed his lifestyle he was like "I'm not into that degenerate crap anymore". Hmmmm...

I have to say though that as a metalhead he was pretty much into mostly death metal, slipknot, that type of stuff.. While a lot of people in the rock- genre sing about germanic mythology there is stuff like this around... A matter of taste...

I admit that back then I found the bands / stuff he listened to quite degenerate but he abandoned his entire metal-lifestyle to join the skinhead-cult.

As often in life I think the core is what a person is/ holds "inside"..

My two cents

Long hair for males indicate non-domestication, thinking for oneself, connection to the universe. It is something natural, a gift from Nature, something Divine.

I've always felt that long hair is for women, not men. Otherwise you end up with this:

Long hair on men blurs the line between the sexes. For example, look at the guy in the second picture in my previous post. You immediately assumed that he's a fag, but how do you know that? It's just a random pic of long-haired man that I found after a quick google search, and I have no idea who he is in real life. And yet I agree with you that he looks faggy. Why? Because of the long hair which makes him look like a woman.

He just looks like a queer to me. You could cut his hair off and he would still look like a fag. For a man to pull off the longhair look properly he should also have some facial hair.

I think one of the things that have lead men to have short hair is their jobs. For example mechanics, a job I once did. Long hair is a pain in the ass at best and potentially dangerous. Same with fire fighters, another job I once held (wildland fire fighter for 11 years). Farmers tend to stay away from long hair for the same reasons. It comes and goes among cowboys, real ones, not the hollywood version. Loggers may get shaggy but seem to stay away from overly long hair, safety again and the hot sweaty pain in the ass factor.

Funny story I once heard about two cowboys back in the late '60s or so. Hippies were just starting to come on the scene and these ol' boys weren't quiet sure to make of them. The cowboys showed up in town for a rodeo and had entered the team roping and calf roping events. They got there a day early and were busy partaking of some refreshments and working the kinks out of their gear and horses. A couple of hippies came tripping along like they had good sense. They each heeled a hippie and hit the ground running while the roping horses kept the ropes taut. Within a matter of seconds they had the two long hairs hog-tied with their pigging strings and then one of the ropers trotted over to their horse trailer and came back with a pair of hand operated shears. They gave the hippies a somewhat rough haircut and turned them loose.

The hippies headed down to the police station and pitched a bitch. They were being a real nuisance, demanding something be done and getting loud about it so the cop arrested them for disturbing his peace. Turned out one of the hippie's father worked in the Governors office and a call to the county sheriff from the state capital resulted in the cowboys being arrested and immediately released on their O.R. with an agreement that before they left town they stop by the courthouse for a trial. Well, they did. The judge asked them if either one had a barber's license, neither did. They were fined $5.00 each for cutting hair without a license. The Hippies were given 30 days in jail for disturbing the peace and loitering.

Myself? Well I'm retired and still have a pretty good head of hair. I haven't had a haircut for years, just as the gods intended. Nor do I shave. In fact I'm not entirely sure whats even involved in that. Bottom Line is that I'm too cheap to get a haircut and too lazy to shave.
