The Russian Language
The first thing I would like to draw your attention to is names.
The Russian language allows, besides the main form of a name, to form a rather large number of other forms. Or they can mean a close acquaintance with him/her. Here is the closest example. On the last Direct Line with Vladimir Putin, the president was asked a question: Volodya, aren’t you tired? Володя - this appeal to a person assuming a close acquaintance with him. Of course, when you translate these forms into English, all these subtle nuances of meaning are lost. A few examples of Russian names and their numerous forms: Александр - Алексаша, Саша, Сашка, Сашок, Сашенька, Сашуля, Саня, Санька, Шурик, Шура, Санёк, Санёчек and etc. Иван - Ваня, Ванька, Ванечка, Ванюша, Иванушка, Ивашка and etc. Владимир - Вова, Вовка, Вовочка, Володя, Володенька and etc. Екатерина - Катя, Катюша, Катька, Катенька and etc. Елена - Лена, Леночка, Ленка, Ленуся, Ленок and etc. If you have any questions, I will try to answer on it
