The Police African Liaison Officer is accountable to the Officer in Charge of the Local Service Area (LSA), for contributing to the preservation of law and order, and prevention and detection of crime through the provision of proactive liaison with the community. The incumbent will liaise directly with African community groups and other agencies and provide intervention strategies to prevent incidents of disorder and violence. The incumbent will work directly with officers attached to the respective LSA Crime Prevention Section (CPS) and other police where necessary, and provide investigational assistance to general duty and specialist patrols in serious crime investigations. The incumbent will enhance the opportunity for police to identify, cultivate and manage human sources, and use a problem solving approach to prevent and reduce the opportunity for crime both within and committed by members of the African community.
