Tom Cotton: Joe Biden Considers Coronavirus Tests for Traveling Americans But Not Illegal Aliens

JOHN BINDER 8 Feb 2021

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) says that while President Joe Biden’s administration considers requiring coronavirus tests for American citizens flying domestically, illegal aliens are being released into the United States with no such requirement.

In an interview with Axios’s Mike Allen on Sunday, Transporation Secretary Pete Buttigieg suggested that the Biden administration is reviewing a plan to require Americans to produce a negative coronavirus test before traveling on airplanes.

Secretary Pete Buttigieg Makes Fight Against ‘Systemic Racism’ Centerpiece of Transportation Department

KYLE OLSON 25 Feb 2021

Department of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is waging a war on “systemic racism” from his new federal post.

Roll Call reported on Buttigieg, the former mayor of South Bend, Indiana:

Criticized during his 2020 presidential bid for not adequately addressing systemic racism when he was mayor of South Bend, Ind., Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg has now made the fight against that issue a centerpiece of his new job.

Buttigieg talks about the issue frequently. On Feb. 4, Transportation Equity Day — the birthday of Rosa Parks — he sent four tweets on the topic. He’s talked about it on MSNBC and CNN. Last week, he talked about it on a Zoom call with the African American Mayors Association.

In his appearances, Buttigieg is repentant for the federal government’s role in building a federal transportation system that frequently cut through Black and brown neighborhoods in order to build freeways, often cutting off Black and brown populations from economic opportunity.

“We recognize how misguided investments and missed opportunities for federal transportation policies have reinforced racial and economic inequality,” Buttigieg told the mayors’ group, according to Roll Call. “The wrong kind of investment can divide or isolate neighborhoods.”

Obama said Buttigieg can’t become president because he's ‘GAY’ and ‘SHORT,’ new book on 2020 campaign reveals

5 Mar, 2021 23:00

Former President Barack Obama sized up the top Democrat 2020 presidential contenders and concluded that Pete Buttigieg couldn't win because of his sexual orientation, shortness and youth, according to a new book on the race.

"He's 38, but he looks 30," Obama told a group of wealthy black political donors in New York in October 2019, two mainstream journalists wrote in a book on how President Joe Biden won the election.

"He's the mayor of a small town. He's gay, and he's short."

Obama gave his brutal assessment of Buttigieg months after meeting with the then-mayor of South Bend, Indiana, to offer advice on how to cope with homophobia on the campaign trail, authors Amie Parnes and Jonathan Allen wrote in their book, "Lucky: How Joe Biden Barely Won the Presidency."

Buyer Plans ‘Online Cabaret Show’ in Pete Buttigieg’s South Bend House

KYLE OLSON 4 Mar 2021

The buyer of Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg’s South Bend, Indiana, home plans to host an “online cabaret show” there.

Buttigieg moved to Washington, D.C., to run the department and decided it is not feasible to keep his home in Indiana, even though he has a “lot of memories there,” LGBTQ Nation reported.

“This is where I’ll be most of the time and we needed to find a place here, and we’re finding that a dollar doesn’t go quite as far as it does back home,” Buttigieg said.

Aaron Nichols, the executive director of the South Bend Civic Theatre, purchased the house and “is already planning on hosting an online cabaret show in the 2500 square-foot home in May.”

Buttigieg Floats Pegging Gas Tax to Inflation to Finance Infrastructure Spending

TRENT BAKER 12 Mar 2021

Friday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg addressed President Joe Biden’s next big focus after signing the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, which appears to be passing an infrastructure bill.

Buttigieg pointed out on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” that the gas tax has not been changed since 1993, meaning it has not been adjusted for inflation. He suggested it is a “medium-term solution” to pay for infrastructure.

Senate Dem admits plan to ram through infrastructure bill without GOP on hot mic

By Steven Nelson
March 15, 2021

A Senate Democrat on Monday accidentally outed plans to pass an infrastructure bill without Republican votes — indicating President Biden’s talk of national “unity” is unlikely to apply to his major legislation.

Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.) told Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg at an event that Democrats intend to use the same budget reconciliation process that allowed for party-line passage of Biden’s $1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill, a statement he thought was private but was caught on a hot-mic.

“Ultimately, it’s going to be put together similar,” Cardin could be heard telling Buttigieg into a hot mic at a UPS facility in Maryland, unknowingly spilling the beans to a much larger audience.

Buttigieg: Mileage Tax to Fund Infrastructure ‘Shows a Lot of Promise’

PAM KEY 26 Mar 2021

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Friday on CNBC’s “Squawk on the Street” that to fund President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill, a tax on mileage traveled looks promising.

When asked about a mileage tax, Buttigieg said, “I think that shows a lot of promise. If we believe in that so-called user-pays principle, the idea that part of how we pay for roads is you pay based on how much you drive. The gas tax used to be the obvious way to do it; it’s not anymore. So, a so-called vehicle miles traveled tax or a mileage tax, whatever you want to call it, could be the way to do it.”

Pete Buttigieg raises eyebrows by floating ‘MILEAGE TAX’ as way to fund costly infrastructure plans

26 Mar, 2021 17:52

US Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg has said a tax that charges people based on how extensively they drive could be a reality soon, prompting a wave of panic from both liberals and conservatives.

Discussing revenue sources to help finance what are expected to be infrastructure proposals worth trillions in the coming months, Buttigieg said, “I’m hearing a lot of appetite to make sure that there are sustainable funding streams.”

A mileage tax, the transportation secretary said, is a plan that “shows a lot of promise” and could end up helping to finance future infrastructure projects. Instead of people paying taxes based on the amount of gas they consume, they would instead pay the government based on the distance they drive – though there is no guarantee mileage taxes would replace any others taxes, instead likely acting as additional federal funds.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg Floats ‘Vehicle Miles’ Tax for Infrastructure Spending Extravaganza

KYLE OLSON 27 Mar 2021

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg floated a “vehicle miles” tax Friday to pay for a likely $3 trillion infrastructure spending extravaganza.

Speaking to CNBC, Buttigieg claimed, “President Joe Biden’s forthcoming plans to rebuild the nation’s roads, bridges and waterways would lead to a net gain for the U.S. taxpayer and not a net outlay,” the network reported.

“When you think about infrastructure, it’s a classic example of the kind of investment that has a return on that investment,” the former South Bend, Indiana, mayor said.

“That’s one of many reasons why we think this is so important. This is a jobs vision as much as it is an infrastructure vision, a climate vision and more.”

Breitbart News reported Buttigieg views his job not simply as roads and railways, but as an outpost in the culture wars. In February, Buttigieg said he was going to tackle “systemic racism” from his position.

Secretary Pete Buttigieg Walks Back Mileage Tax Plans After Backlash

WENDELL HUSEBO 29 Mar 2021

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg backtracked Monday due to backlash after saying Friday a mileage tax to fund President Joe Biden’s infrastructure bill “shows a lot of promise.”

CNN commentator Jake Tapper followed up Monday on Buttigieg’s past assertion, asking him, “You said also that a mileage tax showed, ‘a lot of promise’ as a way to help pay for the [infrastructure] plan … Is that under consideration?” Tapper asked.

“No, that’s not part of the conversation about this infrastructure bill,” Buttigieg replied.

The secretary’s response contradicted his statement Friday when he answered the mileage tax “shows a lot of promise.”

Buttigieg: ‘We’re Not Asking for High Taxes’ — We’re Asking Corporations and Wealthy ‘Pay Their Fair Share’

TRENT BAKER 1 Apr 2021

In a Thursday interview on MSNBC’s “Stephanie Ruhle Reports,” Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg discussed President Joe Biden’s $2 trillion infrastructure plan.

Host Stephanie Ruhle asked Buttigieg if he is “prepared” for Republicans to run against the tax hike being necessary to pay for the massive plan.

Buttigieg advised that the Biden administration is “not asking for high taxes” but rather corporations and the wealthy “pay their fair share.” He argued the tax hike is “wildly popular among the American people.”

That faggot just went higher on my shit list.

A mileage tax is not meant to raise money for the gubbermint. It's meant to restrict our movement-a basic freedom.

It would be an ass fucking for rural Americans. Peter Eater would enjoy that from several perspectives.

May AIDS mutate and kill this faggot. And George Witzall.

Pete Buttigieg: 8-Year Spending Plan ‘Fully Paid for Across 15 Years of Tax Adjustment’

KYLE OLSON 4 Apr 2021

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg argued the Joe Biden administration’s “infrastructure” spending plan will be “fully paid for” by a tax “adjustment.”

In comments to NPR Thursday, Buttigieg said:

Over the course of that eight-year vision, we are going to be enhancing the roads and bridges of this country. We’re going to be improving our ports and our airports. We’re going to be delivering better transit and better rail. Those are investments whose benefits will last a lifetime and then some, and that eight years of investment is fully paid for across the 15 years of the tax adjustment, which means by year 16, it’s actually going to reduce the deficit.

That “adjustment” is a proposal to raise the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent.

Buttigieg: Biden Wants Congress to Act on Infrastructure Before Memorial Day

PAM KEY 4 Apr 2021

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” that President Biden wanted Congress to act on his $2 trillion infrastructure package by Memorial Day.

Buttigieg said, “I think we’re going to find a really strong, good deal space on this because, again, most Americans want to get it done.”

He continued, “The American people like this plan, even more, when you explain how we’re going to pay for it. The reason is simple — that corporations, like we all know, have not been paying their fair share. They’re paying zero on millions of dollars in profits. They’re paying less than a firefighter or a school teacher, not just in percent terms, but in dollar terms, and that’s wrong.

Pete Buttigieg mocked for ‘phony’ Cabinet meeting bike stunt

By Jon Levine
April 3, 2021

He’s the Buttigieg of jokes.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was mocked by conservative critics online after a video appeared to show security staffers unloading his bike from the back of an SUV so that he could “ride” to an April 1 Cabinet meeting.

Two SUVs then followed the millennial Cabinet secretary to his meeting as he pedaled off. Full video was posted online by local WFMZ-TV.

“Pete Buttigieg has a history of gimmicky stunts, just for show, like doing a desk job on a military base for a few weeks, then trying to pose as a combat veteran. Now this phony stunt.” added radio host Mark Simone.

Buttigieg says racism built into US infrastructure was a ‘conscious choice’

EXCLUSIVE: Transportation Secretary Buttigieg acknowledges 'there is racism physically built into some of our highways' as Biden touts $2.2 trillion proposal

April Ryan
April 6, 2021

Phase one of fixing the nation’s infrastructure is not just about some of the obvious: repairing potholes, bridges, roads, airports, schools, creating new power grids, replacing lead pipes and expanding broadband.

There are also efforts to correct America’s racist wrongs.
(...)
In an exclusive interview with theGrio, Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg noted how in some cities there are overpasses that were built low in Black communities as well as racially dividing roadways.

“Well if you’re in Washington, I’m told that the history of that highway is one that was built at the expense of communities of color in the D.C. area. There are stories and I think Philadelphia and Pittsburgh [and] in New York, Robert Moses famously saw through the construction of a lot of highways,” says Buttigieg.
