Skating: the USA national body selectys a more consistent white for the Olympics over a jap who came in ahead of the white at nationals.
http://jezebel.com/did-mirai-nagasu-...-he-1501317196 atrixeUPhoenix Tso71L U I am really sad for Mirai that she won't be going to the Olympics, but this is not about racism. As other commenters have stated there wouldn't be a third open spot on the Women's Olympic team if it wasn't for Ashley Wagner. Mirai finished 3rd at the nationals so if there were only two spots she would still have been left out. There's a NYT article from a few years ago titled "Figure Skaters of Asian Descent Have Risen to Prominence". I'm not crazy about Frank Carroll's generalizations, but it's worth a read. Is racism still a problem? Yes. Is Mirai's exclusion from the Olympic team the result of racsim? No. Yesterday 6:58pm |

Wagner is the highest-ranking American figure skater on the international stage. If you look up their actual results internationally, Wagner by far outpaces Nagasu. This season alone, Nagasu has only placed once in an international competition—third, at the Rostelecom Cup, while Wagner placed first at Bompard, second at Skate America, and third at the Grand Prix Final. Last year, Mirai was third at the NHK Trophy and at Finlandia, while Wagner was first at Bompard and Skate America, and second at the Grand Prix Final. Beyond this year's nationals, it's impossible to claim that Nagasu is the better skater. Yesterday 6:15pm |

Thought-provoking, but likely wrong for reasons pointed out in the article and in the comments section. For example, Kwan was selected in 2006 despite not having skated during the season at all. Furthermore and perhaps more importantly, without Wagner, the US would not even have 3 skaters at the Olympics. ... ... Finally, Wagner is totally made for television (even if she weren't white) and Nagasu isn't (even if she weren't Asian) and that didn't hurt either. Outgoing, bubbly people get stuff the rest of us don't. C'est la vie. Yesterday 6:08pm |

Death threats and denial for woman who showed college athletes struggle to read
By Sara Ganim, CNN (CNN) -- The death threats, Mary Willingham expected. More shocking is that the University of North Carolina is now disavowing her research as a whistle-blower -- research that showed between 8% and 10% of the school's football and basketball players are reading below a third-grade level. UNC issued a statement Wednesday night saying it did not believe Willingham's account of a basketball player who could not read or write. It went on: "University officials can't comment on the other statistical claims mentioned in the story because they have not seen that data. University officials have asked for that data, but those requests have not been met." As well as questioning UNC many times about the story before publication, CNN has also detailed Willingham's research. And purported e-mail exchanges obtained by CNN since August show that Willingham did share her findings at least twice -- once with Executive Vice Provost James W. Dean Jr., and once with a member of a university committee on academics and athletics. In addition, Willingham says her research on the students in the athletics programs that make money for the university was done based on screenings that the university itself paid for. And, she says, she has gotten permission from the university several times since 2008 to access those findings to continue her research. "It's already available to them," Willingham said. "It's in their system. ... They have all the data and more. It belongs to them, and they paid a lot of money for it." Women who blew whistle and what happened next Last year, when CNN asked UNC for comment on Willingham's research, officials initially denied knowing about it, and said: "Such analysis is not part of her job duties at the university." Then, after being shown the e-mails, a spokesperson admitted that Willingham did share her findings and did have permission from the university to do the research in the first place, and said a meeting with Willingham was being scheduled. Apart from Wednesday's statement, UNC has not responded to CNN's request for an explanation. In the meantime, Willingham said she has heard from one branch of the university -- the Department of Public Safety. Since CNN's report, Willingham said she's gotten four death threats, and more than 30 other alarming messages. "Not people who disagree, people who put in the subject or body (of the e-mail) straight-up hate speech," she said. But there have also been notes of support from several other academic advisers around the country, Willingham says, and they make it worth the trouble. "I've been getting more and more nice notes from high school teachers and literacy specialists across the country saying 'Thank you.'" A formal incident report hasn't been made yet, but university police said: "We are looking into it and making effort to reach out and investigate the nature of the threats." "It's really OK," Willingham said of the threats, "because I'm telling the truth. http://www.cnn.com/2014/01/09/us/nca...ththreats1245p |

the above attempts to rebut this paper (abstract):
Is There Salary Discrimination by Nationality in the NBA? Foreign Talent or Foreign Market Chih-Hai Yang [email protected] National Central University, Jhongli, Taiwan Hsuan-Yu Lin National Central University, Jhongli, Taiwan Abstract The authority of the National Basketball Association (NBA) over the past decade has actively internationalized the game by recruiting potential international players and expanding overseas markets. This article examines the determinants of salaries for NBA players, aiming to identify the existence of nationality discrimination on players’ salary and whether the market size of international players’ home countries matters to their compensation. Based on an unbalanced panel data of 618 NBA players between the 1999-2000 and 2007-2008 seasons and employing the technique of two-stage double fixed-effect model, the empirical results suggest that international players seem to receive a lower salary than that of their U.S.-born counterparts, ceteris paribus, suggesting the existence of salary discrimination by nationality. However, international players who come from a large economy receive preferential labor market treatment, highlighting the importance of the home country market to their salaries. The player characteristics such as positions, height, draft, and a team’s local market size indeed play crucial roles in determining players’ salaries. The authors also find that U.S.-born White players tend to be paid less than U.S.-born Black players. It may reflect the fact that more WHITEs tend to be Bench players or the possibility of racial discrimination. http://jse.sagepub.com/content/early...91617.abstract |

The beautiful Ana Ivanovic beats Serena Williams at the Australian Open... Williams blames back injury. She's generally pretty slow to credit anyone beating her, tending to attribute losses to some deficit in her own game.

[this guy was in the NFL, and he was a good player, made a bunch of money. and still this. just goes to show, as we've said a million times: giving a nigger lots of money doesn't turn it into a human. you can't turn a sieve into a pan by filling it with water]

Just now [thing about leftists is they are all super paranoid thinking racism is behind everything so even if you're as comparatively subtle as i was in this tweet (compared to my usual baldness) they will IMMEDIATELY ALL OF THEM know exactly what i mean. so it's fun to fuck with them. they are onionskins and they are made to cry] Last edited by Alex Linder; February 16th, 2014 at 06:27 AM. |

it's not just the big things - violent crime - that shows the ineradicable cultural difference between black and white. niggers are notoriously insensitive to the white need for peace and quiet

I don't understand why people who have 700k or something to spend on habitation buy a shack that's three feet on either side from the neighbors. You might as well live in an apartment. I really think desire for privacy and respect for other people's personal, psychological and physical space is one of deeper Aryan characteristics. |

Korean won gold for Russia in speed skating. It looks so wrong. Asians, blacks, being called Russian, Swedish etc... Its looks wrong and it is wrong.
We never see blacks, whites etc... being called Asian and representing Asia....the reason is, blacks , whites etc... Are not Asian, this rule should apply to non- whites in white countries. |

Whites told on other whites for racial slurs
Afl is majority white players and white fans. Slowly, the players are turning black.
Afl- blackest of the black African race "Majak Daw" made his mark in his first AFL match saturday 22nd of feb. White adult fan made "racial slur" he and his son was booted out of the stadium. Other White patrons told on him. Newspaper herald sun quoted: we will identify who these people are.meaning, their is no tolerance of racism. Mind you, they forced us to take these "people". There was other "racial slurs" last year. Quite clear white Aussies do not wish for our national football league to turn nigger, such as like; English league, NFL, and NBA, but it is. Im sure jews can't wait until AfL is majority black. |
