Default Puigdemont to perhaps give up on full Independence Bid

https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/c...onia-l2kpzw023

"..Carles Puigdemont, who has fled to Belgium, offered the first hint of a way out of Spain’s political crisis. Asked during an interview if a deal could be reached with Madrid which did not involve Catalonia splitting from Spain, Mr Puigdemont said: “I’m ready, and have always been ready, to accept the reality of another relationship with Spain. It is still possible.”

He added: “I have, being pro-independence all my life, worked for 30 years to have another way of Catalonia being anchored to Spain.."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017...ependence-bid/

"..Speaking in Barcelona on Sunday in his first visit to Catalonia since he imposed direct rule, Spain’s Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy urged Catalans to “vote massively” against separatist parties in a snap election he called in the region on December 21.

The nature of Mr Puigdemont’s participation in the election remains unclear as he awaits a court hearing in Brussels on Spain’s request to have him extradited.

Mr Puigdemont told Le Soir he does “not wish to be a candidate for a political party”.
But the idea of a unity list of Catalan parties and civil society organisations has lost strength as two major pro-independence forces, the Catalan Republican Left and the anti-capitalist CUP, announced they would run separately.."

Absolutely, and I find this whole thing very disgusting. They're showing that nobody can peacefully determine their own destiny apart from the globalists via a vote.

I don't blame Puigdemont for his decision, should he in fact make one, to pull back entirely from an uncompromising stance on this, as he is facing 30yrs. in jail. That would put him in there until age 84 (I believe he's 54). A hard thing to face. This is totally disgusting.

Default Propoganda: Puigdemont got dem demonz=B.S.

http://abcnews.go.com/International/...emont-51137066

".. Spain's state-run broadcaster, RTVE, has come under criticism for playing a segment of the theme tune of the 1970s horror movie "The Exorcist" as background music to a clip of ousted Catalan leader Carles Puigdemont.

The tune was played during the Informe Semanal weekly news program Saturday while a clip played showing Puigdemont saying he and other Catalan leaders knew they might face imprisonment for pushing for Catalonia's independence from Spain.."

The media focused on anything but the unprecedented protest in Spain, in which around 1 million people called for the release of 8 political prisoners.

Default prosecutors ask for extradition

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/wo...-a8060856.html

They are pushing back the extradition hearing until Dec.4th. They want to jail them in Madrid.

"..The extradition has created tension between Spain and Brussels. Interior Minister Juan Ignacio Zoido said on Thursday all the information requested had been sent, but pointed out that “Spain is a state of law for many years”, adding: “Nobody in Europe is going to give us lessons.”

Despite the EU nations almost invariably giving their backing to Madrid in its standoff with Catalonia, Belgium was among the first to criticise the use of violence by Spanish police during the 1 October referendum. Spain insists the police response was proportionate. ."

Default Weird timing, Spanish Dir. of Public Prosecutions Died Today in Argentina

https://www.thespainreport.com/artic...wing-infection

"..Spain's Director of Public Prosecutions, José Manuel Maza, has died aged 66 in Buenos Aires (Argentina), the Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, confirmed in a tweet.

"The Director of Public Prosecutions, José Manuel Maza Martin, has died. My recognition and thanks for a life of work in the service of the state. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues. Rest in Peace. MR."

"Rest in Peace José Manuel Maza. An extraordinary jurist and public servant. Justice and the law lose one of their most notable professionals. RC", wrote Justice Minister Rafael Catalá.

Mr. Maza had been attending a congress of Ibero-American public prosecutors in the Argentine capital.

Earlier on Saturday, Spanish media reported he had been hospitalised with a kidney infection and, although his life was reported not to be in danger, he had been taken to an intensive care unit.

Mr. Maza was appointed Director of Public Prosecutions at the end of 2016, after Mariano Rajoy was reappointed Prime Minister following a year-long political stalemate in Spain, unresolved by two general elections.

During the recent separatist crisis in Catalonia, he first announced criminal accusations against the regional government of Carles Puigdemont on September 7, after the Catalan Parliament passed referendum and secession bills.

On September 22, the Public Prosecutor's Office announced charges of sedition against the chairmen of the Catalan National Assembly, Jordi Sánchez, Omnium Cultural, Jordi Cuixart, and the former Catalan Police (Mossos) chief, Josep Lluis Trapero.

Three days after the Catalan Parliament declared independence from Spain on October 27, Mr. Maza made a brief public statement to announce his office would file accusations against the former Catalan government and the Speaker's Committee of the Catalan Parliament for rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds.."

Default Puigdemont launches Catalan Election Campaign, Still in Belguim

https://www.politico.eu/article/puig...-from-belgium/

"..Catalonia’s former leader Carles Puigdemont kicked off his campaign for regional elections from Belgium on Saturday, saying voters must “ratify” their call for independence from Spain.

The Catalan region is holding parliamentary elections on December 21, after Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy last month dissolved the Catalan parliament and fired Puigdemont for his role in the independence referendum outlawed by Madrid. Puigdemont then fled to Belgium with four of his ministers and faces charges of rebellion and sedition.

“We Catalans demonstrated to the world that we have the capacity and the will to become an independent state. And on [December 21], we must ratify this,” Puidgemont said Saturday, launching his campaign from a hotel in Oostkamp, outside Bruges, according to Belgian daily Le Soir.."

Default Fights Ensue as Artwork Removed from Catalonian Museum

https://www.theguardian.com/world/20...n-citys-museum

"..Scuffles broke out between police and demonstrators after hundreds of people gathered outside a museum in the Catalan city of Lleida to protest against the removal of 44 works of art that have been at the centre of a long-running dispute between Catalonia and the neighbouring region of Aragón.

The pieces, which include paintings, alabaster reliefs and polychromatic wooden coffins, were sold to the Catalan government by the nuns of the Sijena convent, in Aragón, in the 1980s.

The Aragonese authorities have been trying to recover the works through the courts, arguing they were unlawfully sold.

At the end of November, Spain’s culture minister, Íñigo Méndez de Vigo, received a judicial order for the return of the works.

With Catalonia currently under the control of the Spanish government after Madrid sacked the regional government over its unilateral declaration of independence, Méndez de Vigo authorised their return on behalf of the administration. The move has exacerbated tensions in Catalonia, which were already running high in the buildup to next week’s snap regional election.."

Default Vote today: exit polls predict Independence Parties Won

In light of the member of Antifa who beat the pro-Spanish man to death, I don't know what to think.

Blow to the EU, good. Antifa Marxists taking over a region responsible for 1/3 of Spain's wealth and making sure it's as 'diverse' as the EU ever could have, bad.

IDK.

All vote results not in yet.

Default 97% Counted, Separatists declare victory

http://www.cnn.com/2017/12/21/europe...ntl/index.html

"..No single party has gained an outright majority, but the three separatist parties took 70 seats, according to the nearly complete results. They needed 68 to gain control of the 135-seat Parliament. If they agree to govern in a coalition, it would put Madrid and Barcelona back to where they were before the seismic political events.

Elsa Artadi from Junts per Catalunya (Together for Catalonia), which gained 34 seats, declared victory in front of party supporters, who shouted "Freedom."

Despite the clear support for separatist parties, it was actually the anti-independence Ciutadans (Citizens) party that came up with the most seats, winning 36 -- a sweeping gain compared to the 25 the party won in the last vote -- in a sign of just how divisive the independence issue has been.

The results, however, do not necessarily mean easy sailing for the independence movement. There will likely be intense negotiations, particularly over the issue of who would become Catalonia's next president.."

Default Whether Puigdemont can govern from Belgium in question, Parlaiment to convene Jan. 17th

https://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/201...oad-absurd-spa

"Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy on Friday denounced as “absurd” the idea that ousted Catalan president Carles Puigdemont could govern from Belgium where he is in self-imposed exile to avoid arrest.

“It is absurd to pretend to be the president of a region when you live abroad, and even more absurd to pretend that you are carrying out this function from abroad,” Rajoy said in his end-of-year press conference in Madrid.

His remarks came a week after Catalan separatist parties claimed victory in a divisive snap election.

Madrid had called the poll after Catalan lawmakers declared independence on October 27, triggering Spain’s worst political crisis since democracy was reinstated following the death of dictator Francisco Franco in 1975.
Following the declaration, Rajoy had sacked Catalonia’s government, dissolved its parliament and stripped the region of its treasured autonomy.
Puigdemont fled to Brussels to avoid arrest over charges linked to rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds.

Other independence leaders, including Puigdemont’s former deputy Oriol Junqueras, are behind Spanish bars pending trial.

Rajoy reiterated on Friday that a vote to choose a new Catalan president would take place within 10 days after the new regional parliament reconvenes on January 17.

Puigdemont’s advisers are currently looking into whether he can run in next month’s ballot from abroad.."

https://japantoday.com/category/worl...his-government

"MADRID--Catalonia's fugitive former president has called for Spanish authorities to open negotiations regarding the restitution of what he calls his "legitimate government."

Carles Puigdemont said via social media channels from Brussels on Saturday that Spain should "recognize the election results of Dec. 21 and start negotiating politically with the legitimate government of Catalonia."

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy deposed Puigdemont and his cabinet after Catalonia's regional parliament voted in favor of a declaration of independence from the rest of the country in October.

But pro-secession parties, including one led by Puigdemont, won the most seats in elections last week.

Puigdemont fled to Belgium to avoid a judicial investigation into suspicions of rebellion by him and his government. He did not say Saturday if he plans to return to Spain.."
