The Bosnian "Threat" to Empire

Bosnia was in the headlines again this week. On Monday, police from both the Serb Republic and the Muslim-Croat Federation raided a Wahhabi village in the north of the country. And on Tuesday, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Dennis Blair spoke of Bosnia as one of the "principal challenges to stability in Europe" in 2010.

While Blair’s description of the conditions in Bosnia was more or less accurate, he never explained why Bosnia’s inner turmoil is considered a threat to Europe (much less the U.S.). It wouldn’t be the first time Washington or Brussels got Bosnia wrong, of course, but the way Blair’s remarks were reported is nothing short of scandalous. Same can be said about reports of Monday’s raid.

Poor Innocent Jihadists

During the Bosnian civil war in the 1990s, a number of foreign jihadists – veterans of the Afghanistan war as well as new recruits – came to the country to fight for the Bosnian Muslim cause. Western governments that supported the regime in Sarajevo turned a blind eye to this. Still, one of the provisions in the U.S.-drafted peace treaty was that all "foreign fighters" would leave the country. While some jihadists did leave, others – facing charges of terrorism at home – chose to remain. Issued Bosnian citizenship by the grateful Izetbegovic government, they married local women, and settled in villages whose Christian inhabitants were killed or expelled during the war. One such village is Gornja Maoca (formerly Karavlasi), in the north of the country.

For years, Bosnian law enforcement and international intelligence and security outfits have kept an eye on the village, whose inhabitants followed the Wahhabi form of Islam imported from Saudi Arabia. One of the investigations focused on the terrorist recruitment of Muslims living in Europe, and the trail led straight to Maoca.

Of course, official Sarajevo vehemently denies there are any terrorists or terrorist sympathizers in Bosnia. But just a few years ago, one senior American official said that the "international community" was well aware of them, and preferred to leave them be.

Not that anyone who read or saw the coverage of Monday’s Maoca raid in the mainstream Western media (e.g., the BBC) was told of any of this. The raid was simply reported as the biggest police operation since the war, against a "conservative Muslim" village inhabited by "Bosnian" practitioners of Wahhabism.

Creative Paraphrasing

There was exactly zero mention of Islamic terrorists in Bosnia in the portion of Dennis Blair’s testimony to the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence on Feb. 2. However, "persistent ethnic tensions in Bosnia" apparently present the "biggest challenge to maintaining stability in Europe" (both quotes by AP).

Here is how AP reporter Melissa Eddy presented Blair’s testimony:

"Blair said Bosnian Serbs has been reversing some of the changes included in the accord as part of efforts to seek more autonomy for their ministate. This, Blair said ‘is contributing to growing interethnic tensions.’ At the same time the Bosnian Muslims and Croats want to abolish the country’s division so it can progress toward EU membership, Blair said."

Trouble is, he didn’t.

This day and age, it isn’t hard to locate the actual text of the testimony [.pdf]. Here is the relevant passage:

"I remain concerned about Bosnia’s future stability. While neither widespread violence nor a formal breakup of the state appears imminent, ethnic agendas still dominate the political process and reforms have stalled because of wrangling among the three main ethnic groups. The sides failed to agree on legal changes proposed jointly by the EU and the US at the end of 2009, undercutting efforts to strengthen the central government so that it is capable of taking the country into NATO and the EU. Bosnian Serb leaders seek to reverse some reforms, warn of legal challenges to the authority of the international community, and assert their right to eventually hold a referendum on secession, all of which is contributing to growing interethnic tensions. This dynamic appears likely to continue, as Bosnia’s leaders will harden their positions to appeal to their nationalist constituents ahead of elections this fall."

Notice that Blair didn’t actually mention Muslims or Croats, or their supposed desire to centralize the country in the name of progress. And he certainly did not claim the Serbs were challenging "changes included in the accord" (meaning, presumably, the Dayton Accords that ended the civil war in 1995), but rather "reforms" introduced by foreign viceroys in the years since. These reforms, the Bosnian Serb leadership argues, actually violate the Dayton accords. They may have a point, too.

So, while the AP story actually quotes a phrase Blair did utter, the rest of that passage is a very creative paraphrasing of his remarks, to say the least.

In contrast, a UPI report quoted Blair accurately, and even contained a mention of the Maoca raid. However, its reporter didn’t make a connection to the portion of Blair’s testimony that clearly applies to the residents of the village formerly known as Karavlasi. Speaking of "networks of Islamic extremists in Europe" (p. 10 of the testimony), he said they "represent a continued threat because of their access to fighters and operatives with training in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, and Somalia; the presence of active facilitation networks in Europe; and European nationals’ relative ease of travel to the United States."

Isn’t Bosnia in Europe, to the point where its internal politics are somehow a threat? Yet there is no mention of Bosnia in the context of Islamic extremism. The omission is simply screaming, "These are not the jihadists you are looking for. Move along!"

This Is Intelligence?

Blair’s description of the messy political predicament in Bosnia is more or less accurate. The belief that a strong central government is the only way Bosnia can enter NATO or the EU is mistaken, but it is actually held both by the Empire and the Bosnian Muslims. Not the Croats, though – they generally desire more autonomy from the Muslim-dominated government in Sarajevo. One Croat NGO is even campaigning for a referendum on secession.

But how is this a threat to the EU, or Europe, or the U.S.? If "neither widespread violence nor a formal breakup of the state appears imminent," what seems to be the problem? Complaining about how "ethnic agendas" dominate Bosnian politics is tantamount to bemoaning the wetness of water. Yet no mention is made of militant Wahhabis peddling al-Qaeda recruitment videos, for example.

Similarly, nothing is said of Albanian threats of renewed violence in Kosovo, the occupied Serbian province the U.S. considers an independent country. No, the perceived threat comes from Serbian refusal to recognize the "independence" of its occupied province, or "frequently" turning to Moscow for "political backing and economic support." That makes no sense, unless U.S. spies perceive every failure to unconditionally obey as a threat to the world "order" Washington has sought to impose through the sheer strength of willpower (and bombs). Which, come to think of it, they probably do.

Of course, upon reading the full text of the testimony (some 46 pages) it becomes obvious that the U.S. intelligence community sees threats everywhere – from al-Qaeda to cyberspace, every civil war in Africa, oil and gas pipelines, even "climate change"!

Apparently, being the self-styled sole superpower means constantly living in fear.

Serbian priest verbally attacked in Bosnia

Feb 20, 2010

Father Milorad Milenkovic, priest of the Orthodox church of Saint Nikolai in Sarajevo, was apprehended by two young men who were following him and cussing his Serbian ethnicity.

Father Milenkovic

Father Milenkovic said that the men, while cussing, called him by his name which means that they know of him and that they have deliberately targeted him for intimidation.

The priest was unable to identify the men nor determine whether they were Muslims because Muslims speak Serbian language but go out of their ways to import Arabic phrases as a distinction.

“It was dark outside and I could not see their faces. I am very sad that this is happening,” said Father Milenkovic.

Once a multi-ethnic city, Sarajevo’s Serbs have been virtually exterminated after the Dayton Accords awarded the city to Bosnian Muslims. The mayor of the city has gone as far as to paint Sarajevo pavement into a green color, traditional color of Islam.

Muhamed Džemidžić, executive director of the Helsinki Committee in Bosnia, condemned the attack on the Serbian priest.

“I am afraid that these sort of attacks will happen more often in the upcoming period. Because, it is an absurdity to expect that the political leaders will calm the situation, because that’s how they gain,” said Dzemidzic.

Serbian church of the Saint Nikolai where Father Milenkovic serves has been the favored target for attack, say the authorities.

Because of such attacks in this Muslim-dominated town, the Inter religious leaders paid it a visit last November during the International Day of Toleration.

In August of 2009, unidentified individuals were shooting at the church. Four additional attacks on the church occurred prior to the shooting and “endless many” smaller ones, say the authorities.

None of the attacks have been solved.

Most media in the West describes Bosnian Muslims as a tolerant practitioners of Islam.

Bosnia Indicts Serb Police Commander for Srebrenica Massacre

13 March 2010

Bosnia has indicted a former Serb police commander suspected of taking part in the 1995 Srebrenica massacre of as many as 8,000 Muslim men and boys.

Authorities say Nedjo Ikonic ordered and oversaw the detention and execution of more than 1,000 Muslims who tried to flee the United Nations safe haven Srebrenica in 1995.

He was arrested in the United States and extradited to Sarajevo earlier this year.

Former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic is on trial in the Hague for his alleged role in the Srebrenica massacre. His ex-military chief, Ratko Mladic, is still at large.

Thumbs up All western troops need to leave

Canada Leaves Bosnia

Mar 29, 2010

After 19 years, Canadian troops will all leave Bosnia.

The Government of Canada has announced the end of Canadian Forces (CF) deployments in Bosnia-Herzegovina with the close-out of Operation BRONZE and the return of the deployed team, Task Force Balkans, to Canada.

The last of a long series of missions in the central Balkan nation, Operation BRONZE began in 2004. For the last year, Task Force Balkans has comprised five officers and one non-commissioned member serving at NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo.

“This is a proud day for both Canada and Bosnia-Herzegovina,” said the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence.

“Over the last two decades, Canadians have worked with the government of Bosnia-Herzegovina, and our UN and NATO partners, to secure a brighter future for the people of Bosnia-Herzegovina. Canada and the CF can be proud of having helped make Bosnia-Herzegovina a safer and more stable place.”

“What dramatic changes Canadians have seen in Bosnia-Herzegovina over the last twenty years,” said General Walter Natynczyk, Chief of the Defence Staff. “When Canadians first deployed to Bosnia-Herzegovina, we were helping secure peace and stability in their nation. Now members of the Bosnian armed forces are serving as part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.”

The primary focus of Operation BRONZE was defence reform, especially to facilitate the re-integration of veterans of the Balkan wars into civil society, and the entry of Bosnia-Herzegovina into NATO’s Partnership for Peace program. Since September 1991, more than 40,000 members of the Canadian Forces have served in the Balkan region in a variety of missions and roles. Over the years, 23 Canadian Forces members lost their lives while serving in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Canada still has a military presence in the Balkan region with Operation KOBOLD (Task Force Pristina), which comprises five senior officers of the Canadian Forces serving with the NATO mission supporting the Kosovo Security Force.

Dodik: Resolution suggests genocide

27 April 2010 | 13:07 | Source: Tanjug, Večernje novosti

BELGRADE -- RS Prime Minister Milorad Dodik objects to Serbia’s adoption of the resolution condemning the crimes in Srebrenica.

He said that the resolution suggests that genocide was committed.

Dodik said that his cabinet believes that the truth is different from what is written in the resolution, that he would prove it and no one would be able to hide the facts.

Still, he noted that this position did not mean there was a rift with the mother country, or the Serbian leadership.

“(The Republic of) Srpska will continue to fight its battle for the truth, because recognizing genocide can cost us our survival,” Dodik told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti.

He said that he did not understand why the Serbian parliament adopted the resolution and that he was against it, as well as against qualifying the events that took place in Srebrenica in 1995 as genocide.

“Unfortunately, from what is written in the Serbian parliament’s declaration, it can be interpreted (as genocide). On the other hand, we do not agree with Serbia isolating one event in Srebrenica. There is no reason for it to be taken out of the context of all of the events of the war. Should the coming generations in this region only mark one event as the scene of a crime - Srebrenica? That cannot be, and no one, not even Serbia, can convince us otherwise,” Dodik said.

The RS premier also said that Serbia’s request for all other countries of the former Yugoslavia to condemn war crimes “would not pass”.

Bosnian Serb PM criticizes NATO on interfering

Apr 28, 2010

Bosnian Serb leader, Milorad Dodik, accused NATO on Tuesday of interfering in the internal affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), reported the Croatian news agency HINA.

Dodik, the prime minister of Republika Srpska, the Serb- dominated entity of BiH, said that NATO’s precondition for BiH joining the military alliance’s Membership Action Plan (MAP) required that ownership of military property in the country be transferred to the state level.

“We can not agree that any property be given to anyone at the level of BiH,” Dodik told reporters in Banja Luka.

At issue is how to determine who owns the military property of the former Yugoslav republic. Dodik’s government steadfastly insists that ownership should be at the entity level, with the use of properties extended to the military.

Dodik went further saying that NATO was, in effect, attempting to force through constitutional changes that had been rejected earlier.

“Not one of these changes will occur either before or after the election,” said Dodik. Elections are scheduled for October in BiH.

Bosnian Muslims threaten Serb returnees

May 10, 2010

Bosnian Muslim High School students in the city of Maglaj went out on the streets to intimidate ethnic Serb returnees that have been ethnically cleansed by the Bosnian Muslims in the 1990.

Muslim students paraded with traditionally green Islamic flags and were shouting anti-Serbian slogans through the city spreading fear among the small ethnic Serb community.

Bosnian Muslim police did nothing to enhance security.

One of the Serb returnees, Vjekoslav Lazic, said that the life in the city is impossible for Serbs. Lazic said that life of ethnic Serbs is under threat.

“We asked the authorities in the Serb Republic to help us so that we can collectively leave” the city, said Lazic.

During Easter, Muslims in Maglaj invited local Serbian Orthodox priests to convert to Islam. The priests were “invited” to a Muslim conversion rally.

Under the Islamic law of Sharia, those that reject the “invitation” to convert to Islam are to be punished by death.

Additional “invitations” were nailed to the doors of houses owned by Christian Orthodox Serbs. Christian clergy approached the chief Maglaj Imam to intervene but Imam Izudin Kruska told them that the problems Maglaj Christians have have not been organized by the Islamic Community of Maglaj.

Dzevad Galijasevic, himself a former Mayor of Maglaj, says that Islamic extremism is on the rise in the city.

Galijasevic, who is a member of anti-terrorism task force for the Balkans, warned that Maglaj Muslims are being systematically radicalized.

Srbin vehabija spremao pokolj!

Sreda - 12.05.2010

Algerian Jihadist arrested in Bosnia

An Algerian Jihadist was arrested in Bosnia after he was branded a “threat to the national security”.

A 45-year old Algerian, Noureddine Gaci, came to Bosnia in 1990s as a volunteer Muslim warrior in order to kill Christians. Gaci was a member of the Muslim government Army and as a result for his murderous efforts Gaci was granted an indefinite stay in Bosnia.

Spokeswoman for the Bosnian Muslim prosecutor, Selma Hacimovic, said that Gaci was not arrested on any orders from the Prosecutor’s office and she had no clue whether Gaci’s arrest has anything to do with an ongoing investigation of the recent Islamic terror attack in the city of Bugojno.

Gaci is one of the tens thousands foreign born Jihadists domiciled in Bosnia after they took part in an organized religious murders of Christians, mostly ethnic Serbs. US and others blame Serbs for the Bosnian carnage.

Gaci is held in the Immigration Center pictured above and may lose his domicile privileges.

In 2007, Italian authorities arrested Gaci, along with another fellow Jihadists Omar Frendi. After his deportation from Italy to Algeria, Gaci came back to Bosnia in 2008. Bosnian Ministry says that Gaci frequently traveled EU countries.

Many of the domiciled Muslim Jihadists were offered local Muslim women as wives but it is unclear whether Gaci is married to a domestic Bosnian Muslim woman.
There are thousands of these shitskins in Bosnia now thanks to the Jew.S of A.

Oric case reopened for murdering Srebrenica Serbs

July 25, 2010 – 3:08 am

Prosecutors in Bosnian town of Bijeljina have opened a case on Bosnian Muslim Naser Oric who was “defending” Srebrenica after he murdered all Serbs there.

The case was originally opened in 2002 in Bijeljina but nothing has been done since.

The Hague war crimes court found Oric innocent for murders of Serbs.

What’s different from the Hague charge, says the prosecution, is that the case will seek to charge Oric for “personal” and not “command authority” for which Hague found him innocent.

Prosecution cites a case of a Srebrenica judge who was an ethnic Serb but to whom Oric gouged out the eyes before he killed him.

Oric bragged to the New York Times reporter about murders of Serbs and showed him trophies such as severed Serb heads.

Judges in Bosnia consider the Oric case as “sensitive”.

As is always the case nothing will come of this. Bijeljina is a Serb town and there is no way that the muslim authorities will arrest Oric and send him there to face justice.

Former Bosnian Serb police chief on hunger strike

Sep 15, 2010

A former Bosnian Serb police chief who collapsed during a hunger strike over losing his job says he will not give up until he dies or his case is reconsidered.

Accusing him of helping war crimes suspects evade justice, Bosnia’s international administrator fired Dragomir Andan and seized his travel documents in 2007.

There was no formal trial and Andan chose to go on hunger strike 16 days ago. He collapsed Wednesday and a hospital said he was admitted to its emergency room where he was given intravenous fluids before being discharged.

He told The Associated Press he will continue until he dies or he has a chance to prove his innocence. The administrator’s office has said the circumstances regarding Andan’s dismissal have not changed.
