The Health Care Big Three
The Health Care Big Three:
1. Nutrition 2. Exercise 3. Sleep NUTRITION: Eat right with a balanced diet of 60% fat, 20% protein, and 20% carbohydrates. When it comes to carbs, avoid simple sugars--especially high-fructose corn syrup. It was designed by agribusiness to put fat on hogs, and it does the same to people. EXERCISE: Stay active. An hour or two a day of gardening should be enough--plus, if you're growing produce, you'll get plenty of good carbs for your nutrition. If you can't do that, walk that long. Of course, weight training and running are both good options, but don't over-do it. 30-45 in the gym or 20-30 minutes of road work a day should be plenty. You don't have to be a gym rat to be in good shape. SLEEP: Most of us need eight hours a night. If you're not able to get that amount, it's probably because of high levels of stress. Stress is a killer. Determine the cause of your stress and eliminate it. |
