Woodpecker TAA, 2011 edition. Who is with me?

The TAA project ramped up to the point that it sort of burned out as a project. No project can creep upwards in scope forever; it has to be kept at a maintainable level.

So lets pace ourselves and shoot for one kick ass paper per year.

Rounder says he is behind the idea. So I pledge $100 to the 2011 edition TAA.

Who is with me?

Don't mind helping with the writing as I write a lot anyway.

Thanks for starting this thread, Karl.

Yes, I'd love to see more editions of TAA published and distributed. I pledge $200.00 start-up money, and I pledge to purchase and distribute at least 1,000 copies of each new edition.

All we need is Alex's approval, a volunteer tabloid clerk, and someone to do the layout.

Default Every lil' bit helps

I can write and I own Macromedia Suite, an expensive graphic design software program. If TAA 4 needs something, let me know. (I'll check this thread from time to time)

Can you, and will you, do the 16-page tabloid layout, and when finished, email it to the printers ?? Also, do the tabloid clerk's job ??

I can do graphics, Rounder. That's my forte. However, I don't have the ability to lay out a newspaper. If you've got an idea for the cover art, let me know. I can do a mock-up and post it here.

Why don't you all let me do the actual layout of the publication. I think my work speaks for itself, and if you aren't aware of it, you need only look at the campaign flyer I did for Rounder a couple of years ago to see the quality and professionalism of my work.

I cannot be the tabloid clerk though. I am only able to do the design and layout and send it to the printer when finished.

And if it matters, I have Adobe Creative Suite 5 (CS5).

There probably won't be a paper unless someone would step forward and offer to do the tabloid clerk job that Rounder used to do. That's the first step & the hardest job.

I dug up TAA3 off the Internet and made a little poster of it, promoting TAA4. Call it a "call to arms".

Tell us more..........

I am not familiar with that term (tabloid clerk), so I don't even know enough to ask the question......

Gosh, i never thought about until i really took a gander at that photo of troops. Did they realize that just one well-tossed Molotov cocktail would've burned 'em all to bbq ribs? Man, they took a risk!

Basically everything Rounder did.

Found a printer, drove to printer & picked up the 20,000 papers, dealt with the finances, packaged the papers, sent the papers out to each address.

He also kept a log of every payment and sent it to a trusted VNNer to verify that all money was accounted for.

I did the design and created the PDF file for TAA4. The "Tabloid clerk" job is the hardest of the two. Merely finding a printer willing to print our paper isn't an easy task either.

I agree, Varg. Gotta have a tabloid clerk or there won't be a tabloid.

I'm 70 freakin years old now, with advancing COPD thanks to 54 years of smoking, and with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peeling - just not physically able to do all the lifting and toting involved.

So, who'll volunteer ??

(Now watch posters on this thread get scarce as chicken lips)

Glenn,
If you are the Clerk, do you have to list your phone number and home address on it? If I was single and lived alone it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference.

I know that we can get the papers Fed Ex'd to either Richmond or RDU and yours truely has a truck to go pick them up. I'm more than willing to get them to the Post Office and sent on their way.

I would not have any problem keeping a record book with all receipts to be sent to Ron Doggett or Glenn Miller to be verified.

Please tell me what you think. You can email or PM with any details that you don't want posted here.
