Distribution of white supremacy tabloid upsets business owners

Associated Press

LEWISBURG, W.Va. - Business owners in Lewisburg are upset after finding a white supremacist tabloid on their doorsteps over the weekend.

"It seems like a useless waste of paper," said Aaron Maxwell, owner of Harmony Ridge Gallery. "This is an educated and diverse area. They are preaching to the wrong people."

Police Chief Tim Stover said police are investigating the clandestine distribution of The Aryan Alternative.

Donna Toney, president of the Lewisburg Downtown Business Association, said she saw copies of the tabloid at nearly every downtown business' door on Sunday morning.

"I knew it was something disgusting and I didn't even read it," she said Monday. "I just put it in the trash and didn't even bring it in the store."

The tabloid states that it is published in Kirksville, Mo., by Alex Linder.

Linder operates the Vanguard News Network and founded the White Freedom Party. He is a former member of the West Virginia-based National Alliance, according the Anti-Defamation League.

"This publication isn't anything that anyone would condone," Mayor John Manchester said. "But as ugly as the messages it expresses are, that's what freedom of speech is about."

Racist Newspaper Surfaces in Greenbrier County
Posted 11/1/2005 05:21 PM

Lewisburg police are trying to find out who is responsible for distributing a racist newspaper in downtown Lewisburg.
Story by Natalee Nabors Email | Bio
59 news has learned that the Aryan Alternative is published by Alex Linder from Kirksville, Missouri.

He operates a racist publishing company and website.

Lewisburg police chief Tim Stover says several angry business owners contacted him yesterday after finding a copies of the Aryan Alternative newspaper on their business' doorsteps Sunday morning.

The paper portrays Jews, Mexicans, Hispanics and African Americans in a negative light.

Aaron Maxwell runs a gallery in Lewisburg. He's disturbed by the paper's racist views.

"I thought it was kind of a good waste of paper to be distributed here because they all ended up where they should be and that was in the trash," says Aaron Maxwell.

Lewisburg's Police chief says no crime has been committed, because the speech is protected by the First Amendment.

But they're investigating whether they could charge the responsible party with littering.

Racist, Anti-Semitic Newsletter Distributed In Md.

Video

(WJZ) COCKEYSVILLE, Md. Residents in Cockeysville are outraged after the distribution of a newspaper with racist and anti-semitic remarks.

"The Aryan Alternative" newsletter demonizes both African- and Jewish-Americans, making suggestions that the white race is in danger. It was recently distributed in the Montvieu neighborhood in Cockeysville.

"Obviously, under our Constitution they have a right to write it, they have a right to distribute it," Arthur Abramson, Executive Director of the Baltimore Jewish Council, tells WJZ's Kai Jackson. "It's all designed to prove basically one thing overall--the white race is the superior race, and the Jews and people of color are dangerous and subverting and destroying the white race. That's what it's about."

The newsletter claims its mission is to educate white men and women, encouraging them to recognize and defend their racial interests. Critics say its mission is to spread lies and fear.

"There's always a danger, anytime you preach hatred there's a danger," says Abramson. "Words can be followed by action."

(LEWISBURG, W. Va.) Business owners in Lewisburg, West Virginia are upset over a racist publication that originated in Kirksville. They found a white supremacist tabloid on the doorsteps of their businesses Sunday morning.

The approximately 10-page paper, called "The Aryan Alternative", was published in Kirksville by Alex Linder who, according to the Anti-Defamation League, operates the Vanguard News Network and founded the White Freedom Party.

Lewisburg Police Chief Tim Stover said he received calls from disturbed business owners Monday morning.

Lewisburg is not the first place outside Northeast Missouri that the publication has been discovered. Stover says the paper was distributed the same way in Waynesboro, Virginia.

Investigators are trying to track down the person or people who distributed the paper. Stover says that while only minor charges may be filed, the important thing is to stop the distribution of the publication.

11/03/05, Charlottesville Daily Progress [Charlottesville, Va.]

Pro-white newspaper distributed in city

By Kate Andrews / Daily Progress staff writer

November 3, 2005

A circulated pro-white newspaper angered and perplexed residents and business owners in a Charlottesville neighborhood Wednesday.

The Aryan Alternative, a 16-page tabloid excoriating blacks and Jews, was distributed early in the day in the racially mixed Rose Hill neighborhood off Preston Avenue.

The paper is published in Missouri by Vanguard News Network, a white supremacy group. The issue distributed features stories alleging that illegal aliens carry diseases, Jews occupy half of all teaching slots at top-ten law schools and the NFL discriminates against white players.

A picture on the back page shows an attractive white woman and the words, “Keep yourself pure, keep yourself white.”

Jesus Cavanaugh, a black Dale Avenue resident who received a copy of the paper, said he’s “completely appalled.”

He contacted David Toscano, Democratic candidate for delegate, and others in the community to make them aware of the paper’s distribution.

“We’re not going to overlook this,” Cavanaugh said Wednesday evening.

Whites and blacks received the papers, which were left on residents’ doorsteps, according to Charlottesville police. Some in the neighborhood wondered if the papers were distributed as a recruitment tactic or merely to disturb them.

Most residents were not upset but wanted to report a suspicious occurrence, authorities said.

Last week, one of the papers was spotted in the same neighborhood. No crime was committed in its distribution, police said.

Residents of a Waynesboro neighborhood reported receiving the paper recently, and police are investigating the distribution of the Aryan Alternative in Williamsburg and Newport News, according to news reports.

Publisher Alex Linder said his main aim is to “wake up” white people, but if the paper “falls into a black person’s hands, who cares? If they don’t like the publication, they can throw it out.”

He also said that mainstream media publications, which he argues are controlled by Jews, do not give the truth about race in America and depict his group negatively.

By writing about black-on-white crime, Linder said, “we’re haters, we’re evil.”

A few dozen people have bought copies at a rate of $15 per 100 issues, which they then distribute wherever they wish, Linder said.

He’s received no comments about this issue from people in Virginia, but Linder said there are many people who support the paper’s stance.

Cavanaugh’s no fan, though.

“That’s a bull-- philosophy,” he said.

11/03/05, NBC 29 (newscast video) [Charlottesville, Va.]:

White supremacist newspaper found on local doorsteps

Reported by: Dana Hackett
Thursday, November 03, 2005

Some Charlottesville residents received a rude awakening Wednesday when they opened their front doors. A white supremacist group distributed a newspaper in the Rose Hill Drive neighborhood containing harsh comments about black people, Jews, and illegal immigrants. It came with words too graphic to share harshly critical of Jews, black people, and illegal immigrants.

It's a matter of first amendment rights, including freedom of speech. While residents are disturbed by the statements they read in the newspaper, there's not much they, or police, can do about it. George Swingler, who's been working at the Rose Hill Market for 18 years, says it's something that has stirred up emotions among residents in the neighborhood. He stated, “I know around here in the area, a lot of the neighbors around here are concerned about the paper”.

Residents in the neighborhood along Rose Hill Drive received the "Aryan Alternative" newspaper on their doorsteps. The Vanguard News Network, based in Missouri, is responsible for publishing paper but there's also an extension of the group based in Charlottesville. The group stands by the idea that they "have respect for separatist co-thinkers of other races so long as they do not threaten {their} survival and self-determination, which are not negotiable."

Charlottesville police are aware of the toll this can take on the community but they say it's a matter of free speech and their hands are tied. Charlottesville Police Chief Tim Longo stated, “What’s most troublesome for somebody in my position is that when you look at any state statutory provision or local ordinance that prohibits that, there simply isn't any”.

Police say if it were a situation where papers were being littered on public property and they could identify a source, they could at least press littering charges. Right now, they're continuing to monitor the situation. [/quote]
By the way, Albamarle County was the home of Thomas Jefferson, so his quote prefacing the Hush Crimes story about the two races being unsuitable to live under the same government was perfect-

Charlottesville residents get anonymously distributed newspaper

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. Residents of a Charlottesville neighborhood are the latest to see racist newspapers on their doorsteps.

The Aryan Alternative was distributed yesterday in the racially mixed Rose Hill neighborhood. The 16-page paper is published by Vanguard News Network in Missouri and included stories harshly critical of black people, Jews and illegal aliens.

Charlottesville police say several residents reported the paper's distribution yesterday and some were wondering whether it was a recruitment tactic for racist groups. People in Waynesboro, Williamsburg and Newport News also have reported getting the Aryan Alternative.

Supremicist newspaper distributed in City
University, Charlottesville mayor respond to Missouri-based white supremacist publication

Ashley Simpson, Cavalier Daily Associate Editor

A white supremacist and anti-Semitic newspaper called the Aryan Alternative was distributed around the Charlottesville community Wednesday.

Published in Missouri, the issue distributed Wednesday in Charlottesville was the newspaper's third issue.

Charlottesville Mayor David E. Brown said the newspaper, which was distributed to some black neighborhoods, was "despicable."

"It's not a reflection of Charlottesville at all," Brown said.

Aaron Laushway, associate dean of students and director of fraternity and sorority life, said copies of the newspaper did arrive at some fraternity houses off Grounds.

Although the newspaper has yet to appear on Grounds, Alex Linder, editor and head writer of the newspaper, said he has distributed the Aryan Alternative around college campuses and that he would like to get it distributed on Grounds.

University spokesperson Carol Wood said the University cannot stop peaceful distribution of a publication like the Aryan Alternative in a public place, but that the University "has a commitment to diversity that students should be vocal in their saying that this type of publication does not belong in our community."

Wood said the distribution of the Aryan Alternative could violate the University's discrimination and harassment policy if it were distributed in an aggressive way.

"If someone were to try to push this on an individual, it would be in violation of our discriminatory harassment policy," Wood said. "If the people were aggressive in distributing it, it would interfere with the operation of the University."

Supremacist paper distributed

CASSELBERRY -- About a dozen residents have contacted police and City Hall complaining about a white-supremacist publication dropped in their driveways last weekend.

The Aryan Alternative, printed by Missouri-based Vanguard News Network, was distributed along several streets in south Casselberry off Winter Park Drive, city spokeswoman Susan Vernon-Devlin said.

It was not clear how many copies of the 16-page publication were distributed.

One resident reported that she saw two men in a pickup distributing the newspaper Sunday.

Copies also were distributed in the Forest Brook subdivision.

Casselberry's handbill ordinance restricts unwanted publications from being delivered door to door, but there is little the city can do with newspapers dropped in driveways, Vernon-Devlin said.

About 600 copies of the same publication were distributed in Maitland and Winter Park in August. Todd Vanbiber, an Orlando man behind a failed 1997 plot to detonate bombs and rob banks around Orlando, took responsibility for them. It was unclear whether he is involved in the latest distribution.

Henry Pierson Curtis, Gary Taylor, Sandra Pedicini, Robert Perez, Willoughby Mariano and Elizabeth Maupin of the Sentinel staff contributed to this report. Information from The Associated Press also was used.

'White Supremacist' Papers Appear At Hundreds Of Homes

POSTED: 5:44 am EST November 7, 2005
UPDATED: 6:39 am EST November 7, 2005

Hundreds of homes in Central Florida received a white supremacist newspaper in their driveways over the weekend, according to Local 6 News.

Homeowners living near the Alexandria Place subdivision near Apopka, Fla., are the latest group to receive the "Aryan Alternative" -- a newspaper filled with words of hate against Jewish people, African Americans and Hispanics.

"I was appalled," resident Connie Miller said. "I was hurt that somebody would violate our neighborhood and put that kind of stuff here."

Several residents were angered that the papers were thrown where children could find them.

"Its upsetting that these people not only that they exist, that they're trying to get their words out there where kids can pick the information up and read it too," a homeowner only identified as James said.

Friday, the same newspaper was delivered to homes in Casselberry, Fla. Also, hundreds of copies of the paper were distributed in Winter Park and Maitland.

Authorities said Todd Vanbiber took responsibility for the August incident.

It's still unclear Vanbiber distributed the newspapers in Apopka and Casselberry, Local 6 News reporter Deborah Garcia said.

"I believe in the First Amendment right, but we didn't ask for the trash to be put in our neighborhood and we don't want it here," Miller said.

Local 6 News reported that it is not illegal to place the newspaper on driveways.

Alternative newspaper distribution to continue in Rogers, for now

By Brook Reinhard
Staff Writer

11/7/05

The distributor of a whites-only newspaper will continuing to deliver unsolicited papers to people's doorsteps without interference from law enforcement, barring a city ordinance that restricts the distribution of unwanted publications.

Glenn Miller of Missouri showed up at the Rogers Police Station on Oct. 26 in a dramatic gesture to turn himself in, after police spokesman Cpl. Kelley Cradduck said last week if Miller kept passing out papers he could be arrested for harassment.

Miller came ready to fight, brandishing a newspaper and a highlighted section of the U.S. Constitution, but Police Chief Steve Helms said he'd only be arrested if he trespassed or was giving the incendiary paper to people who said they didn't want it.

"All I'm trying to do is let white people know that they do have the right to speak their minds," Miller said as he handed out a copy of The Aryan Alternative.

The fourth and latest issue blasts Jews, blacks, Hispanics, liberals, the National Football League and the public schools system. Miller said he distributed 700 copies of the newspaper to northwest Arkansas last week and planned to do it again Tuesday. He said he doesn't target specific homes but looks for upscale neighborhoods.

The paper drew multiple complaints last week from homeowners who said they didn't want "trash" in their yards. James Gosserand II, a business owner and member of the Rogers Planning Commission, said Tuesday he'd like to see the city consider legislation to limit the distribution of unwanted literature to people's homes.

Gosserand said the idea has nothing to do with his work as a planning commissioner, but as a private citizen he said something should be done to condemn the paper and speak out against it, even if it turns out that there's no way to stop Miller from delivering it.

"Most intelligent people, most thinking people, most people that believe in God vehemently disagree with this guy," Gosserand said. "I think that it is sad and shocking that in 2005, especially in one of the highest-growth areas in the country, that we have people like this dividing us, spewing hatred. The battle is not between races: It is between good and evil.

The Rogers citizen said he's proud of his own multi-ethnic heritage, and doesn't mind Miller being proud of his heritage, but stressed that having a sense of identity and pride shouldn't lead to hatred of other groups or forcing that hatred onto others through a newspaper.

"I don't want pornography on my doorstep. If someone did that, I'd be offended," Gosserand said. "I feel the same way about this type of material. It's like any other unwanted junk."

City Attorney Ben Lipscomb said there's little the city can do in regulating The Aryan Alternative specifically, besides charge Miller for littering if he distributes a paper to a homeowner who has already specifically said he or she does not want the material.

"As long as he's standing in the public right-of-way and throwing a publication -- and I hesitate to use the word 'publication' because it's crap -- the only statute I can think to charge him on would be the litter statute," Lipscomb said.

However, the attorney added, the Council could pass an ordinance banning the distribution of unsolicited materials, but that ban would include free shopper publications and other unsolicited material.

"The Supreme Court has said you can limit protected speech in 'time, place and manner,'" he said, although content can not be limited.

Mayor Steve Womack said he wouldn't want to regulate the content of a paper, no matter how objectionable. He said limiting unsolicited material could be considered but warned that in general, legislative remedies can sometimes create more problems than they solve.

"Is there a way to make a 'Do Not Call' list for distribution?" he said. "That's something I'd have to talk with my attorney about, but it might be possible.

11/09/05, [Newton TAB, MA]

Racist paper lands on lawns
By Don Seiffert/ Staff Writer
Wednesday, November 9, 2005

Residents who found a copy of a white-supremacist, anti-Semitic newspaper on their front lawns this week can expect more where that came from in coming months.
The head of distribution for the Aryan Alternative Newspaper, based in Kirksville, Mo., which was delivered last week to about 500 households in a handful of communities in eastern Massachusetts, said there are plans to deliver the newspaper to more homes more often.
Glenn Miller, the distribution manager of the paper and a contributing writer, described the publication as a "pro-white" alternative to the "anti-white bias" in the mainstream press. The newspaper comes out quarterly, and 44,000 copies of the most recent issue were printed and delivered nationwide.

But he said that there are plans to make it a monthly, and to increase the circulation in the Newton area from 500. He explained that the paper has about 20 individuals who distribute it to a few communities in eastern Massachusetts, including Newton and Stoughton. It's up to those individuals how many copies they choose to order and deliver, said Miller.
Miller said none of the local distributors would likely be willing to speak to the newspaper.
Asked why he thought Newton was among the few chosen communities in Eastern Massachusetts, he said, "simply because white people are there."
Miller said that for every 500 newspapers that are delivered, three or four residents typically call the local police to complain. "That tells me a lot of people agree with it," he said.
Bruce Apotheker, spokesman for the Newton Police, confirmed that after last week's delivery, "two or three" complaints came in. Apotheker said that while police show up to homes to respond to the complaints, officers do not search for the newspaper, nor pick it up off residents' lawns, although some residents themselves apparently collect and dispose of them from neighboring lawns.
Apotheker said the delivery of the paper can only be considered a crime if the paper appears to target a minority, such as if it's delivered to just one home on a street which happens to be inhabited by a minority. He also said that under some circumstances, the delivery of the paper could violate littering laws.

Rebecca Leiter, a Newton Highlands resident, said she called the police after the paper appeared on her front lawn last Monday, Oct. 31. She said a number of residents on the street had all received it, and her initial reaction "was to ignore it."
However, she decided to call the police, and then call the Newton TAB, because "if everyone ignored it, the people who [publish the newspaper] would be able to persuade more people to their cause."
Miller said that anyone who receives the newspaper but doesn't want it can call him at the phone number on page two (417-463-7703) to stop delivery.
In the course of speaking to the TAB, Miller complained that the Aryan Alternative Newspaper (www.govnn.com) is often wrongly stereotyped along with other, similar publications.
"All pro-white newspapers are lumped together, no matter how moderate ... That's bigotry. That's absurd," he said.

Police probe distribution of racist newspaper

11/09/05
by bob allen

It was no treat when some residents in the Sparks-Glencoe, Phoenix, Sherwood Hills and other nearby Cockeysville neighborhoods found copies of a racist hate publication called The Aryan Alternative on their lawns or doorsteps on Halloween.

Capt. Martin Lurz, commander of the Cockeysville Precinct of the Baltimore County Police Department, said that over a 24-hour period beginning 5 p.m. the night of Oct. 31, the precinct received roughly 20 complaints about the newspaper.

According to police, most copies of the paper were folded and wrapped in rubber bands so that they looked like a small package.

The newspaper's cover, which featured sensational headlines and slogans such as "The White Race ... down but not out!" was not visible until the rubber bands were removed and the tabloid-style publication was unfolded.

According to information in the paper, The Aryan Alternative is published by an Alex Linder, who lists a Kirksville, Mo., post office box.

Exactly who distributed the provocative 16-page publication in Baltimore County is unknown.

"We're taking a look at it," Lurz said.

According to notices in the paper, The Aryan Alternative has a print run of about 50,000 copies and is "distributed nationwide on college campuses and white neighborhoods." One advertisement offers copies in bulk to distributors at $15 for 100 copies.

Though many object to the racial slurs, innuendoes and slogans ("Civil Rights Means Dead Whites" and "The Plot of the Jewish Mind," for example) in The Aryan Alternative, it is legal to publish and distribute it, Lurz said.

Even so, according to Lurz, "it's offensive to a lot of people, and it causes fear and concern."

Tamar Kipper, assistant director of the Washington-based Anti-Defamation League, said that, judging from reports she has gotten, The Aryan Alternative has also been distributed widely in parts of Virginia and North Carolina.

"It seems they have stepped up their campaign," Kipper said.

According to information on the Anti-Defamation League's Web site, Vanguard News Network, which publishes The Aryan Alternative, was started by Linder in Missouri in August 2000.

According to the league's posting, the publication and Vanguard News' Web site, www.vanguardnewsnetwork.com, are: "extremely anti-Semitic and racist, and tend to denigrate women. Mr. Linder considers his (messages) to be a form of satirical humor, but they are generally considered crude, even within the white supremacist community."

Lurz said many of the complaints the police department received had to do with the crudity. Some residents expressed concern about young children seeing the paper.

Children were the main concern of one Hunt Valley resident who contacted the Towson Times after finding a copy of the paper on her doorstep; she asked not to be identified for fear of retribution.

"We've never gotten something like this before," she said. "The timing is disconcerting; they delivered it at a time (Halloween) when kids would be out. I guess these people don't draw the line."

Kipper said it's important for people to realize that the newspaper is not just intended to serve as a recruitment tool but also to scare people.

For at least one Hunter Run area resident, the scare tactic worked.

"I was outside and a lady who lives near me came down and was talking about (finding the publication on her doorstep), and she was very upset," said the resident, who also asked that her name be withheld. "She said there is an Asian family that lives near her, and there was a copy of it on their windshield."

The furtive distribution of the publication "doesn't necessarily mean there is a big number of white supremacists in the neighborhood," Kipper said. "People should be aware and contact the police and the Anti-Defamation League, but they should also be aware that part of the purpose is to scare them."

According to Kipper, the Internet has made such surreptitious mass distribution of hate literature easier. Certain Web sites allow for anyone to print hate pamphlets and propaganda, then distribute the literature under cover of darkness.

In response, the Cockeysville Precinct sent its four- member community outreach team into the neighborhoods where the paper was distributed sometime during the late afternoon or early evening Oct. 31.

The outreach team has knocked on doors and spoken with residents in an effort to squelch unfounded rumors, suspicions and fears.

"We give them the facts," Lurz said. "No one was specifically targeted, no property was destroyed, and no laws were broken" in connection with the publication's distribution. "In dealing with things like this in the past, these people will hit an area, then they go away."

Lt. Robert McGraw of the Cockeysville Precinct said most residents the outreach team talked to were either unaware of or indifferent to the publication.

"The vast majority of people, to be honest with you, thought it was either an advertisement or junk mail, and they didn't even open it," McGraw said. "They just threw it away."

Lurz said that in the past there have been similar incidents - what he calls "leaflet drops" - in other parts of northern Baltimore County and south-central Pennsylvania, but not in the Cockeysville area.

Late-night hate literature distribution

By David Cottrill

Some time after 11 p.m. Saturday night, white supremacists distributed hate literature in downtown Lewisburg, a newsletter called The Aryan Alternative.

Three alert college students, noting the contents of the screed, gathered up 54 of the folded diatribes and, after photographing the stack, burned the newsletters.

Two local businessmen picked up many and trashed them early Sunday morning.

Some were inserted through mail slots in the doors of Washington Street businesses.

The newsletter is published by Alex Linder in Kirksville, MO. It is not known who dispensed the material.

In addition to the usual supremacists’ attacks on Blacks, Jews, Mexicans, etc., "Linder takes on "our feminized legal system … So far from oppressing women, the current system elevates them over men in every possible way."

"The Aryan Alternative is distributed nationwide on college campuses and in white neighborhoods," noted the publisher, "to encourage them to recognize and defend their racial interests."

Residents displeased over racist newspaper

'The Aryan Alternative' lands on area doorsteps

11/10/05
By Bob Allen

It was no treat when some residents in the Sparks-Glencoe, Phoenix, Sherwood Hills and other nearby Cockeysville neighborhoods found copies of a racist hate publication called The Aryan Alternative on their lawns or doorsteps Halloween morning.

Capt. Martin Lurz, commander of the Cockeysville Precinct of the Baltimore County Police Department, said that over a 24-hour period beginning about 5 p.m. Oct. 31, the precinct received roughly 20 complaints about the newspaper.

According to police, most copies were folded and wrapped in rubber bands so that they looked like small packages.

The newspaper's cover, which featured sensational headlines and slogans such as "The White Race ... down but not out!" was not visible until the rubber bands were removed, and the tabloid-style publication was unfolded.

According to information in the paper, The Aryan Alternative is published by Alex Linder, who lists a Kirksville, Mo., post office box.

Although many object to the racial slurs, innuendoes and slogans ("Civil Rights Means Dead Whites" and "The Plot of the Jewish Mind," for example) in The Aryan Alternative, publishing and distributing it are legal, Lurz said.

Even so, according to Lurz, "it's offensive to a lot of people and it causes fear and concern."

According to the league's posting, the publication and Vanguard News' Web site www.vanguardnewsnetwork.com are: "extremely anti-Semitic and racist, and tend to denigrate women. Mr. Linder considers his (messages) to be a form of satirical humor, but they are generally considered crude, even within the white supremacist community."

Lurz said many of the complaints the police department received had to do with the puplication's crudity. Some residents expressed concern about young children seeing the paper.

Children were the main concern of one Hunt Valley resident who contacted the Towson Times after finding a copy of the paper on her doorstep. She asked not to be identified for fear of retribution.

For at least one Hunters Run area resident, the scare tactic worked.

"I was outside and a lady who lives near me came down and was talking about (finding the publication on her doorstep), and she was very upset," said the resident, who also asked that her name be withheld. "She said there is an Asian family that lives near her and there was a copy of it on their windshield."

In response, the Cockeysville Precinct sent its four-member community outreach team into the neighborhoods where the paper was distributed sometime during the late afternoon or early evening Oct.

National Perspectives : Phooey on multiculturalism

Benton County Daily Record
Posted on Monday, November 14, 2005

Multiculturalism is a poison pill prepared by people who hate America. The poison lies in the fact that every race and ethnic group in the world is to be honored except Caucasians of European descent. Any such showing of pride is to be labeled "Nazism" or "white supremacy."

Both charges are bosh, of course. As part of the multicultural argument, it is often claimed that the United States has always been multicultural and multilingual. That is true only in a technical sense. Nearly all of the early immigrants were from Europe — mostly northern Europe, mostly Protestant Christians — and most all aspired to learn English if they didn’t know it.

Read what John Jay says in the second of the Federalist Papers: "With equal pleasure I have as often taken notice that Providence has been pleased to give this one connected country to one united people — a people descended from the same ancestors, speaking the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in their manners and customs, and who, by their joint counsels, arms, and efforts, fighting side by side throughout a long and bloody war, have nobly established general Liberty and Independence."

Does that sound like multiculturalism to you?

It is easy to forget in today’s Orwellian world that the 13 original colonies, which became the 13 states, were all English colonies established by Great Britain. They were peopled largely by English, Irish, Scots and Welsh, with a smattering of Germans, Dutch, and French Huguenots. It is also easy to forget that these people lived in English colonies under English laws for nearly © years before they declared their independence.

When we speak of the American system of government, we are speaking of a direct derivative of the British government. The human rights we cherish and the English common law on which, at least in the past, our own laws were based were all from the green isles of the United Kingdom. An American who doesn’t know English history cannot know American history, and unfortunately, such people are legion these days.

It’s tragic that Native Americans living in the Stone Age were overwhelmed by a flood of immigrants who were technologically advanced. It is unfortunate that slavery was introduced to the nation. It’s unfortunate that after the War Between the States, greedy industrialists in the North opened the floodgates to immigration, in part to settle the lands they had stolen from the American people. It’s doubly unfortunate that foolish liberals in the United States in 1965 passed an immigration law that opened the doors to practically everyone except Europeans.

Our nation, like all others, has its share of tragedies, mistakes and crimes, but that should never detract from the great accomplishments of the American people, particularly those men who founded this country.

As I have said before, I have been called an ethnic junkie because so many of my dearest friends are firstgeneration immigrants from Korea, Vietnam, Cuba, the Middle East and Europe. I have no problem with people from anywhere, but it is time to stop this steady degradation of American children’s European ancestors in textbooks and movies. They were not villains, and they produced one of the most advanced and culturally rich societies the world has ever known. The idea, for example, of damning men like George Washington just because he owned slaves ought to be considered by all Americans an abomination. Certainly in a civilized nation one ought to be able to celebrate one’s ancestors without demeaning those of others. We should have no room for haters in this country, unless, of course, you want to fight all of the old wars all over again. If so, don’t beat around the bush — speak up. If American children don’t grow up proud of their country and its history and their heritage, then I don’t see how they are going to preserve it. I assume most Americans still think it is worth preserving. Or do most Americans see it only as a huge shopping mall between the Atlantic and the Pacific?

White Supremacist Publication Delivered To Orlando Residents

POSTED: 7:13 am EST November 14, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Many residents of an Orlando neighborhood were throwing out what they call an offensive publication. The white supremacist paper "The Aryan Alternative" was delivered to homes in the Delaney Park neighborhood over the weekend.

The articles attack Jews, blacks, gays and other minorities. Those who found it on their lawns said they were appalled.

"I didn't care for it at all. I put it in the trash," said resident Pat Yates.

The newspaper is published out of Springfield, Missouri.

About six years ago, a similar paper suddenly showed up in the Winter Park area. It was given away for free to try to attract subscribers.
