Landing is confirmed, 3:23 p.m. PST.

First US lunar landing since Apollo 17 in 1972.

Successful landing, but having some communications problems. Odysseus might be on a slope and Earth is low on the horizon near the Moon's south pole, so the main dish antenna may not be pointed precisely to receive or transmit a good signal. Waiting for some pictures to come in.

Looks like it tipped over on its side, like the Japanese SLIM lander last month. Still operating and sending data, at least until the sun goes down and the solar panels can no longer generate power in about 9 - 10 days. The lander was designed for only about a 7-day lifetime for this reason, anyway. Partial success, at least it didn't crash of fail to go into lunar obit and burn up in Earth's atmosphere like the Peregrine lander did a few weeks ago. Remember these are private company vehicles and missions with some NASA funding and instruments but, not full-fledged NASA/government missions with much higher budgets. There will be a learning curve with this just like NASA and the Soviet Union in the 1960s with their lunar probes--many failures until they had any successes.

Odysseus has shut down due to lunar night. Intuitive Machines is hoping to restore contact in three weeks during lunar noon at the south pole, like SLIM was able to do.
