Croatia commemorates Roma killed by Ustasha in WWII for the first time
25 april 2022 A group of Roma killed in the village of Hrastina by Croatian Ustasha units from 24-25 April 1945 was commemorated for the first time at the Marija Gorica cemetery on Sunday. The crimes committed by the fascist and ultranationalist group, Ustasha against the Roma and Sinti, were some of the worst recorded under the Independent State of Croatia, the World War II-era puppet state of Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy. The incident in Hrastina saw 43 men, women, and children brutally tortured before being murdered and burned in a barn. The massacre is not well known and has not been widely talked about until now. https://www.euractiv.com/section/pol...he-first-time/ |
