David Parker's protest in a larger context
The title of the article refers to 'Govt. has taken control [of children] away from parents' and hence parents have 'lost' control and thus are 'out' of control.
Out of Control Parents
by Nedd Kareiva
Quote:
Today's American parents are out of control. No, I don't mean they are wreaking havoc on society by an almost anything goes lifestyle, though there certainly are some that exist in our day and age. I do not believe those are a majority of your apple pie Americans.

What I do mean by America's parents being out of control is that due to governmental forces, abuses, unconstitutional laws and power hungry officials, mothers and fathers are being stifled in their ability to raise their children as they see fit. Parental roles are increasingly undermined by governments and government sanctioned agencies. They are losing control of their children. As such, governments have by fiat assumed control of our kids in various parts of the country. Two of governments' chief underlings are public schools and so-called state's Child Protective Services, often under a different label, depending on the state you live.
Let's paint a picture of our decaying public school system. In much of America, this is not your father's or mother's public schools where the 3 R's were once faithfully and rigidly taught. It is no longer a system where you worked darn hard to make sure you advanced a grade or you would be kept back. It is no longer a system where if you got out of hand, your teacher would call your parents to tell them. If you were really bad, your teacher might just take the trusty old school ruler and crack you on the wrist or hand until you got in line. Parents were kings and queens and were extensions of the school's moral order. They worked closely with school officials. They defended school officials instead of their children when children misbehaved. And you didn't very often have the likes of the American Civil Liberties Union meddling.
But no more. If today's good teachers and other school officials try administering discipline to out of order children, the ACLU will be in like a swarm of bees waiting to litigate. And whereas teachers in the past determined to educate our children, many of today's teachers are actively undermining the role of parents with an agenda. A couple examples of that is the National Education Association's support of Planned Parenthood and the teaching of homosexuality.
Gay/Straight Alliances (GSAs), probably the most widely known element of the homosexual agenda, have sprouted heavily in schools all across America over the past decade. School officials refusing to allow them faced legal threats and coercion from the ACLU to comply. One such district was in Boyd County, Kentucky in 2004. Despite widespread opposition from parents and ministers, the ACLU and a court forced Boyd County High School to allow a GSA on its campus. The litigation director of the ACLU's Gay & Lesbian Rights Project, Jim Esseks, was quoted as saying "Parents don't get to say I don't want you to teach evolution or this, that or whatever else. If parents don't like it, they can homeschool, they can go to a private school, they can go to a religious school.".
Mr. Esseks' idea sounds like an excellent one to me because in the end, the school did not allow students to opt out of the pro-homosexual training that the ACLU foisted on them, though a third of the high school students stayed home on the first ever day of training.
Another example of how parents are helpless against schools on this agenda was a recent case of a Massachusetts dad whose son brought home a storybook containing pictures of homosexual characters. He requested school officials notify him when anything homosexual is taught in the schools. When the school refused to grant David Parker's wishes, he went to the school and demanded action. When he would not leave school property without a YES answer, he was arrested. Such a case is a logical progression in the first state where homosexual marriage was foisted by the Massachusetts Supreme Court.
In California, pro-homosexual curricula is taught in schools throughout the state, often without parental knowledge or consent. And similar to Kentucky, thanks to litigation from the ACLU, one school district was forced to have students to take "anti-gay harassment" training. On top of that, all school personnel, regardless of status and job title, were mandated to take a pro-homosexual sensitivity class.
... the homosexual agenda is ... is by no means the only issue. School officials in some districts won't hesitate to give a girl a birth control pill or take her for an abortion if she is pregnant. And the parents will likely never know that their roles as parents were undermined unless their daughters tell them. This is quite common in states like New York, Massachusetts, California, Oregon and Washington state.
The newest area where parents, like me, may be subject to losing control of our children is in Illinois. A program known as the Illinois Children's Mental Health Partnership (ICMHP), signed into law in 2003, is scheduled for implementation at the end of June. The program, in which Illinois was the first in America to sign on, was introduced under an initiative known as President Bush's New Freedom Report. It has received attention from all over America, Canada and overseas and is frightening parents who are concerned as to what may happen to their children who end up in it.
Schools will be instructed to look for students who may appear to be depressed, disoriented or with perceived negative mental traits and subject to so-called screenings and developmental corrections. Schools will not be the only institutions implementing this program which will cover children from birth to 18. Hospitals and mental health centers will be looking for mothers who recently gave birth to participate in this program to test for depression and possibly other things. Such programs appear to be muscled in by the pharmaceutical industry and are ominous in nature because of the subversive nature of the program.

Is it not disturbing to think that if you don't want your kids to be taught sexuality, especially homosexuality, outside the home, you might be subject to action from school districts which have been given an indirect law enforcement powers by state legislatures?
Is it not troubling to think that a school official could take your daughter, without your permission, to a Planned Parenthood clinic and obtain birth control pills or if pregnant, an abortion, and you may never find out?
Is it not frightening to think that your children can be forced to be vaccinated against your will and if you don't comply, you can be in trouble with the law?
Is it not appalling that you can be fined an outrageous amount of money or be arrested if you don't force your children to wear a seat belt, even if they cannot comfortably buckle up?
Is it not terrifying that if you don't obey a doctor's wishes to get a certain medical treatment for your child, that CPS or the police might come in and dictate what to do? And if you don't follow thru after their lectures, you could lose custody or your own blood son or daughter.
Is it not horrifying to think that you and your children may be subject to mental health initiatives by so-called experts in the mental health field. Can you say Auschwitz? ["Oy! Improper use of HolyCo$t comparison, case Number 4,503,227."--L.D.]
If there is ever a time parents must take authority of their children, it is now. Absent clear cut physical abuse or neglect of a child, schools, states and governments have absolutely no business interfering in family matters. Whether a child goes thru certain medical procedures, absent clear cut life and death matters, such are parental decisions, not the government's. Governments may feel free to offer their views on items like safety and health but no right is more sacred than for parents right to raise our children as we see fit and are taught.
