Question for Alex Him
Alex, what do you know regarding Alexander Solzhenisyn's book "200 years together" about Russia's relationship with the jews?
Have you read it in Russian language or know anyone who has? Opinion? Cheers Last edited by T.Garrett; February 18th, 2019 at 05:59 PM. |

Solzhenitsyn
OK, neither have I yet in it's entirety. I've been looking around for a version that is approved of by Russians since it is a story about doings in their country.
It seems there many different translations of '200 years' in the West. Quote:
jews in the West who were at one time supportive of Solzhenitsyn have turned their backs on him because of this book. Well, I guess its one of those things that you read and make up your own mind about it. Thanks. PS Did he really refuse the Order of St Andrew in Russia as a protest against Yeltsin government policies that impoverished regular Russians, that would be like an American refusing the 'Medal of Freedom' here. He was quite a man your Solzhenitsyn. Last edited by T.Garrett; February 19th, 2019 at 12:03 AM. |

If he is a historian, then where is his diploma from any historical university? I only know that he graduated from the Faculty of Physics and Mathematics of the University of Rostov. Quote:

What would you say about a chemist who would write a scientific paper on astronomy? Quote:
I tried to transform the English impersonal "they say" in "they write." Actually I meant that: According to the information on the Internet, he really refused the Order of St Andrew. I'm from Russia. But you have my permission to locate me anywhere on our planet and beyond

And what signs of a split personality do you note in the aggregate of my posts, so this leads you to suspicious?

I see the opposite picture of what is happening in the academic world. Now if a person is a scientist, then as a rule he is a narrow specialist even in his science. If he is a biologist, for example, he may be a specialist in virology. And it is precisely in this area that his opinion is significant. But his opinion in the scientific world is no longer authoritative in the fields of ichthyology, mycology, histology, entomology and etc. Quote:
By the way, who was the scientific reviewer of the book of Solzhenitsyn? Quote:

Now I learned from you that he never formally studied history and will take that into account when I dig into "200 years". Cheers |

Today I voted for the first time without leaving home (about constitutional amendments).
I have a verified account on the website of public services and this is enough to use a computer and the Internet to vote. My laziness is delighted with this! Previously, it was so convenient only on the website of the Federal Tax Service. I hope that soon there will be no need to attend any public services personally.

What’s with the Russian mail service? I ordered a set of vacuum tubes April 26th and they still haven’t arrived.

Mail exchange during COVID-19 In connection with the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, most countries have significantly reduced international air traffic or completely stopped it. Sending mail is carried out by road through Germany, the Netherlands, Latvia and Ukraine. Also, due to international restrictions, delayed delivery is carried out to the USA, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Ukraine, Moldova, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Great Britain, Hungary, Greece, Denmark, Ireland, Spain , Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey, Finland, France, Croatia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Sweden, Israel, Armenia, Canada, Georgia. In the near future, shipments to Hong Kong, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and Azerbaijan are planned. List of countries that have stopped processing mail: Bolivia, Honduras, Libya, Mauritania, Dominican Republic, Easter Island (Chile), Peru, Samoa, Tunisia, Chad, Ecuador, South Africa, Malawi, Togo, Cuba, Turkmenistan, Suriname.
