Default July 22 [ Netflix Breivik essay ]

I recently watched ''July 22'' on Netflix. It's a portrait of Anders Breivik and his terror attacks on Norwegian left-liberal politics in 2011. Directed by Paul Greengrass, UK director of docu-dramas who also directed a Hollywood ''Bourne'' thriller or two. English language primary dialogue by Norwegian actors.

Filmed at the wrong time of year, too dark for Scandinavian high summer. An excellent portrait of Breivik, if with a too handsome and not physically bulky enough actor. Breivik had built himself up with steroid body building for years, and was a hulking physically intimidating figure. The lead actor is athletically fit, not the same thing.

There is a certain amount of balance, in that Anders Breivik is shown to have a coherent motivation, not insane. But that was part of the trial.

Worth a watch if you have Netflix.

Anders Breivik is a zionist. Barf.

"Anders Breivik is a Christian nationalist terrorist obsessed with preserving the “Nordic/Germanic” people. He is also an ardent Zionist. Though he finds elements of Nazi ideology appealing, his 1,500-page manifesto condemns anti-Semitism."

That wasn't shown in the movie. There was a lack of swastikas and such, which shows it was fairly accurate. Breivik was shown to regard himself as saving native Scandinavia. Can't recall any mention of Israel or any church.
