Gov’t to draft national action plan against antisemitism
07.10.2022 The government will soon draft the country’s first comprehensive national action plan against antisemitism, deputy prime minister Panagiotis Pikramenos told an international conference in Ioannina on Friday. Addressing the opening of a two-day conference on “Fighting Antisemitism and Holocaust Distortion and Denial on the Digital Battlefield,” Pikramenos noted that the process to create the action plan will start in the coming weeks. Relevant ministries, public bodies and the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece will participate in the process. In a pre-recorded message, Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias noted that “a torrent of fake news, hate speech and conspiracy theories is spreading through the internet and social media.” It was “our duty to stop this new ‘pandemic’ as soon as possible.” Among those attending the conference are Ioannina Mayor Moses Elisaf, Israeli Ambassador to Greece Noam Katz and President of the Central Board of Jewish Communities in Greece David Saltiel. https://www.ekathimerini.com/news/11...-antisemitism/ |

Mayors From Across the World Gather in Greece to Combat Anti-Semitism
November 29, 2022 Mayors from across the world are gathering in Greece for a major conference on combating antisemitism that kicks off on Wednesday in Athens. Among participants from 53 cities and 23 countries is the mayor of New York Eric Adams. The 2022 Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism (MSAA), will be hosted by Kostas Bakoyannis, Mayor of Athens & Chair of 2022 MSAA and the City of Athens, the birthplace of democracy and Greece as the oldest European Jewish community. President of Greece Katerina Sakellaropoulou will also participate in this historic event. “Athens is the birthplace of democracy, and the significant rise of hate and antisemitism we are witnessing around the world is a threat to our cherished democratic values,” Mayor Bakoyannis said. “That is why this event is so important and timely. We see an insidious spread of antisemitism, so there is a need to fight this scourge at the local level as well as to see how these trends are global, and learn best practices from each other towards combating them,” he added. Antisemitism conference: Mayors have the best understanding “Mayors and other local and regional decision-makers are the closest officials to the ground in towns and cities around the world,” said CEO of Combat Antisemitism Movement (CAM) Sacha Roytman Dratwa. “They have the best understanding of the challenges and the solutions to combat all forms of hate, including antisemitism. They are the ones charged with issues that take place on their streets and neighborhoods, so they are closest to the pulse of their communities.” CAM is a global coalition engaging more than 600 partner organizations and nearly two million people from a diverse array of religious, political, and cultural backgrounds in the common mission of fighting the world’s oldest hatred. The first Mayors Summit Against Antisemitism was held online last year. This week’s event will be the first in-person conference of its kind, the CAM said. https://greekreporter.com/2022/11/29...anti-semitism/ |

Violent Protests Break Out in Greece After Police Shoot Roma Teenager
December 6, 2022 Violent scuffles broke out in Thessaloniki, Greece on Monday after a Roma teenager was shot by police and left in critical condition. The 16-year-old was shot in the head in the early hours of Monday morning after driving a truck away from a petrol station near the port city of Thessaloniki without paying. Officers from a motorcycle patrol had pursued the teenager’s pickup truck after a gas station employee reported the unpaid bill of 20 euros. The Greek police department said the youth had tried to ram officers in pursuit on motorbikes in his attempt to evade arrest. https://greekreporter.com/2022/12/06...roma-teenager/ |

Greece Moves to Ban Neo-Nazi Party From Polls
April 10, 2023 Greek lawmakers are set to vote on urgent legislation introduced by the government in Athens to ban neo-Nazi parties from competing in upcoming national elections in May. The move comes after an imprisoned neo-Nazi set up – from behind bars - a political party that is gaining popular support ahead of the polls. Greek Justice Minister Makis Voridis submitted the legislation to parliament, billing it as unprecedented and part of the government’s drive to protect democracy in the birthplace of democracy. With this bill, he said, it is the first time in history that Greek members of parliament are asking the entire bench of the Supreme Court to weigh the credentials of a party and its members to compete in elections. The move comes just weeks after Greek lawmakers voted to ban Ilias Kasidiaris, a leading member of the now defunct Golden Dawn party, from competing in the May 21 polls. https://www.voanews.com/a/greece-mov...-/7043690.html |

This is amazing! Jehovah's Witnesses come to Greece and hand out their JW propaganda pamphlets. An Orthodox priest pasts by their stand. The result: TOTAL GREEK VICTORY! ☦️🇬🇷🦅

.
Of course, Greek elections are a joke since the authorities - at the behest of international jewry - will ban any nationalist party that threatens the (((status quo))). First it was Golden Dawn, now it's Hellenes. |
