I live in Atlanta but my father lived in Monteagle, Tennessee. he died in 1986,
Monteagle has an assembly which is kind of a gated area with about 150 homes and cottages. Most people rent the homes for the summer but some like my father live there year round. It is about 6 miles from Sewanee where the University of the South is located. My father attended Sewanee Military Academy in the 1940s. It is a military high school. He attended Vanderbilt where he met my mother and married in 1954. I have a lot of relatives in Tennessee and Alabama. I love that area of the mountains. Monteagle is a big crossing point for truck drivers and has a big truck stop/ diner. I was upset to learn about the wildfires that occurred around Dollywood. i would like to go there sometimes. My stepmother inherited this property called Wonder Cave in Tennessee when her first husband died. The Monteagle assembly prohibits blacks at least in the 1980s. My cousin tried to bring a black friend there one time and they didn't let the black guy in.
