Default Have You Read "Mein Kampf?"

Mein Kampf - Adolf Hitler's political autobiography - is one of those books that everyone has heard of and many people have an opinion about.

But who here has actually READ Hitler's book?

I know people like to argue about which is the best translation of Mein Kampf.

That's fine.

But for the purposes of this poll, I am taking the attitude that, "Any Mein Kampf is better than no Mein Kampf."

I did read it, years ago.

I found it good, but, at the same time, sort of wandering. It would help it to be more focused/organized.

If nothing else everyone should read Volume 1 Chapter 11.

Here are all the various translations (including German and Russian) - https://app.box.com/s/5ynzc0wura4wavj2oz8yk8m7njqcf5ul

Here is an audio version - https://app.box.com/v/MeinKampf-audio

Yes, I have read it in its entirety. In fact, it was this passage in Mein Kampf that caused me to "get it" and finally realize why the White race must be preserved:
Quote:
Certain ideas are even tied up with certain men. This applies most of all to those ideas whose content originates, not in an exact scientific truth, but in the world of emotion, or, as it is so beautifully and clearly expressed today, reflects an 'inner experience.' All these ideas, which have nothing to do with cold logic as such, but represent only pure expressions of feeling, ethical conceptions, etc., are chained to the existence of men, to whose intellectual imagination and creative power they owe their existence. Precisely in this case the preservation of these definite races and men is the precondition for the existence of these ideas. Anyone, for example, who really desired the victory of the pacifistic idea in this world with all his heart would have to fight with all the means at his disposal for the conquest of the world by the Germans; for, if the opposite should occur, the last pacifist would die out with the last German, since the rest of the world has never fallen so deeply as our own people, unfortunately, has for this nonsense so contrary to Nature and reason. Then, if we were serious, whether we liked it or not, we would have to wage wars in order to arrive at pacifism.
The above quote is from Volume 1, Chapter 11. A shorter portion of the quote appears in my signature below.

There is a lot of misinformation and confusion about how Hitler wrote Mein Kampf, especially Volume One, which he authored while in prison.

Timothy W. Ryback wrote an important book entitled, Hitler's Private Library: The Books that Shaped his Life (The Bodley Head, London, 2009). Ryback researched the writing of Mein Kampf, separating the fact from the fiction, and devotes a chapter of his work to Hitler's book. (Ryback may or may not be Jewish; I have tried to find out with no success. "Ryback" is common Eastern European name, and may be Polish, Czech or Ukrainian - or Ashkenazic).

Ryback says that Hitler, who knew how to type a little, would sit up at night working on his book. The next morning he would read his latest passage aloud to fellow prisoner Rudolf Hess. Hess would then give his feedback, and Hitler would make handwritten notes and changes on the typescript. This, apparently, is the origin of the rumors that Hitler dictated Mein Kampf to Hess, or alternately, that Hess himself wrote Mein Kampf, and AH merely put his name on it.

Hitler was already an accomplished orator, and it was natural for him to read his words out loud. So, Mein Kampf may be thought of as being, in a sense, a gigantic speech - that is a speech in book form, rather than a book in itself.

This might explain the sort of wandering, meandering course that it occasionally takes: It's Hitler talking out loud to himself, and his mind skips around a bit.

Remarkably, the original typescript of Mein Kampf still exists, complete with Hitler's handwritten changes and marginal notes, based on Hess's comments. It was found in the NSDAP Central Archives after the war (Hauptarchiv der NSDAP). It is available to accredited researchers, which I guess excludes anyone who is pro-Hitler or pro-White.
