Palestinian youth dies of injuries sustained by Israeli gunfire in West Bank

Sunday, 29 January 2023 1:41 PM [ Last Update: Sunday, 29 January 2023 5:17 PM ]

A young Palestinian man has succumbed to the wounds he suffered days earlier after Israeli military forces carried out a raid on the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said 24-year-old Omar Tareq Saadi died of his serious injuries on Sunday after being shot in the stomach by Israeli troops during the violent raid on Thursday, Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported.

The Palestinian Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said Saadi was a former prisoner, who spent about 3 years in the Israeli jails.

The latest death brings the total number of Palestinians killed in the deadly Israeli attack on Jenin to 10.

Diaspora minister: Palestinian Authority a ‘neo-Nazi entity’ that should be replaced

29 January 2023, 2:13 pm

Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli says that the Palestinian Authority is a “neo-Nazi entity” and that alternatives to it should be examined.

“I see the Palestinian Authority as a neo-Nazi entity in its essence and outlook,” Chikli tells the Ynet news site.

“I think that the Palestinian Authority, as of today, is the enemy of the State of Israel. We still do not have any peace agreement with it. It is an enemy entity, an entity that is antisemitic to its core, and we need to examine alternatives to the Palestinian Authority,” he says.

Rights group calls for Israel’s accountability, end of decades-long impunity amid surge in killings

A human rights group has warned about the alarming surge in killings committed by the Israeli regime against Palestinians, calling for the need to hold the illegal entity accountable and to end Tel Aviv’s decades-long impunity.

The Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor said in a report cited by Palestine's official Wafa news agency on Monday that the recorded number of Palestinian deaths in the occupied West Bank increased by 82% in 2022 compared to 2021, and nearly fivefold (491%) compared to 2020.

In the report, titled “Pulling the trigger is the first resort,” the rights group said analysis of field data revealed that the majority of Palestinian fatalities were civilians killed by Israeli forces in “unjustified operations” where they “presented no imminent threat or danger” to the lives of Israeli soldiers or settlers.

Providing detailed statistics of Palestinians killed by the illegal entity in 2022, the report documented the killing of 204 Palestinians by Israeli forces last year, 142 of whom were from the occupied West Bank (69.6%), 37 from the besieged Gaza Strip (18.1%), 20 from the occupied al-Quds (9.8%), and five from the Arab localities across the occupied territories (2.4%).

The data presented in the report also showed that Israeli forces carried out 32 summary executions, with 18 of them occurring alongside accusations that the victims had either conducted or attempted a stabbing or car ramming attack against Israelis. The remaining executions were generally lacking any rationale or carried out solely based on suspicion.

Palestinian protesters block Israeli attempt to destroy village, homes

More than 200 Palestinians are taking part in a two-day vigil in Khan al-Ahmar, east of al-Quds, to block an Israeli attempt to destroy the village and displace its people, while others have gone on strike in al-Quds’s Jabal Mukabber in protest against home demolitions.

The Palestinian protesters gathered at the entrance of the village to voice their objection to the Israeli ruling and prevent the Israeli army from carrying out the demolition.

According to the Palestinian WAFA news agency, head of the Wall and Settlements Resistance Commission Muayyad Shaban said that he had called for the two-day vigil on Tuesday, one day before the Israeli Supreme Court was scheduled to issue a ruling on this issue.

Concern over demolishing the village, where 200 people live, half of them children, was heightened following a call by far-right Israeli minister Itamar Ben Gvir to immediately demolish it and kick out its residents.

Khan al-Ahmar, which includes 25 Bedouin communities, has been at risk of demolition by the Israeli authorities for several years.

Issam al-Ahmad, deputy head of the Directorate of Education of the suburbs of al-Quds, told Palestine TV that the demolition policies of houses and facilities across Palestine, especially Khan al-Ahmar, are not new.

Iran deplores ‘abhorrent’ Israeli assault on female Palestinian prisoners

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman has strongly condemned Israeli forces’ brutal aggression against Palestinian women at Damon Prison in the occupied territories, after a report said the female detainees were assaulted and beaten violently.

“Beating female Palestinian inmates in #ZionistRegime’s Damon Prison [is] abhorrent,” Nasser Kan’ani tweeted late on Tuesday.

Kan’ani also denounced the Western governments’ double standards on human rights and women’s rights.

“Do self-proclaimed rights defenders in Europe & US believe #HumanRights and women’s rights apply to Palestinian prisoners in Israel’s horrifying jails?” he asked rhetorically.

Israeli jets strike Gaza

The IDF said it targeted “chemical material production” and “weapon manufacturing” sites

Israel launched airstrikes against several “terrorist” targets in Gaza on Thursday morning, hours after a rocket fired from the area was intercepted by the Iron Dome air defense system.

“The IDF is currently striking in Gaza,” the Israel Defense Forces confirmed in a tweet around 3 am on Thursday morning. About 30 minutes later it shared some details about the targets of the raid, claiming that “IDF fighter jets struck a production site for raw chemical material production, along with a weapon manufacturing site belonging to the Hamas Terrorist Organization.”

There were no immediate reports of casualties, but video clips circulating on social media purportedly showed several explosions in central Gaza, one of the world's most densely populated areas.

PALESTINE IS MY CAUSE: NEW POLL SHOWS ARABS REJECTING PUSH TO EMBRACE ISRAEL

The latest Arab Opinion Index 2022 is yet more proof that Arab societies are diverse in every possible way, from their assessment of their economic situation and living conditions to their take on immigration, state institutions and democracy, with one single exception: Palestine.

Seventy-six percent of all respondents to the poll, which is carried out annually by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Doha, said that Palestine is a cause for all Arabs, not Palestinians alone.

Three important points must be kept in mind when trying to understand this number:

First, Arabs are not merely expressing sympathy or solidarity with Palestinians. They are irrevocably stating that the Palestinian struggle against the Israeli Occupation is a collective Arab struggle.

Second, these views are the same across all sections of society throughout the entire geographic expanse of the Arab world, from the Gulf to the Maghreb regions.

Third, equally important is that the public opinions that have been examined in the poll come from countries whose governments have either full diplomatic ties with Israel or vehemently reject normalization.

The study is quite extensive, as it included 33,000 individual respondents and was carried out in the period between June to December 2022.

Once again, the Arab people collectively reject normalization with Israel, with Algeria and Mauritania topping the list at 99 percent each.

At least thirteen Palestinians have been injured after Israeli military forces stormed a refugee camp in the West Bank, amid fears that the situation across the occupied territories is going to implode in the near future.

The official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that Israeli troops broke into Aqbat Jabr camp, located southwest of Ariha in the Jordan Valley, on Saturday morning following a week-long siege.

The report, citing local sources, added that explosions and exchanges of gunfire were heard in the refugee camp later on.

Hamas warns Netanyahu: Expansionism, illegal Israeli settlements will not bring security

Monday, 06 February 2023 6:53 AM [ Last Update: Monday, 06 February 2023 7:02 AM ]

Reports say Israel is preparing to demolish a residential building housing more than 100 Palestinians.

The Palestinian Hamas resistance movement has condemned the Israeli regime’s “racist occupation policies,” warning that illegal settlements will not be a safe haven for Israeli settlers, as Tel Aviv continues to build new illegal settlements and demolish more Palestinian homes.

Hamas said in a statement that the Israeli measures represent a dangerous escalation that will not bring security or stability to the illegal settlers, and will not grant the occupation legitimacy or sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian land.

It warned that the Israeli administration “solely bears responsibility for the consequences of housing settlers near the Gaza Strip and for putting them in danger, and it bears full responsibility for its settlement escalation throughout the West Bank.”

Islamic Jihad vows retaliation after Israeli forces kill seven Palestinians near Ariha

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad resistance movement has vowed that it will not back down from their struggle against Israeli occupation forces, after Israeli media reported that at least 7 Palestinian resistance fighters were killed in an Israeli raid on Aqabat Jabr camp near Jericho.

Israeli media reported on Monday that the occupation forces are holding the bodies of the 7 martyrs, the Palestinian Information Center said, adding that the residents of the camp confirmed that they did not find the bodies of the martyrs.

The archaeological city of Ariha (Jericho) and its surroundings have been under a tight Israeli siege as the regime’s forces set up roadblocks and checkpoints at the city’s entrances and searched vehicles and check IDs of passengers, causing unsustainable delays and traffic jams.

On Sunday, the Aqabat Jabr refugee camp battalion of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Hamas resistance movement, declared the beginning of three days of rage over the Israeli regime’s tight siege and incursions that have been taking place since 9 days.

Israeli forces have shot and killed a teenage Palestinian boy during a raid on the northern West Bank city of Nablus, a day after they killed at least five Palestinian men at a refugee camp in the eastern part of the occupied territory.

The Palestinian health ministry identified the victim as 17-year-old Hamza al-Ashqar, a resident of the New Askar refugee camp on the outskirts of Nablus.

Israeli special forces raided the eastern sector of Nablus, located approximately 49 kilometers (30 miles) north of al-Quds, early on Monday and carried out arrests. They clashed with Palestinian youths and fighters during the raid.

Israeli forces have killed nine Palestinian children this year: Palestine

Thursday, 09 February 2023 7:13 AM [ Last Update: Thursday, 09 February 2023 8:04 AM ]

The file photo shows Israeli forces detaining a Palestinian youngster.

Israeli forces have shot and killed forty-two Palestinians, including nine children, since the beginning of the year, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

The ministry said in a report on Wednesday that the number of Palestinians who have been killed by Israeli forces since the beginning of 2023 has risen to 42, including an elderly woman and nine children, eight of them during January alone, Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported.

It said the Israeli regime has committed more crimes against Palestinians in the occupied territories in 2023 than any other time in recent years, adding that the new year has so far been particularly hurtful to children.

The ministry explained that last year, 224 Palestinians, including 53 children and 17 women, were killed at the hands of Israeli troops and settlers across the occupied territories, marking 2022 the deadliest year for Palestinians since 2005.

It also said eight of the slain Palestinians were younger than ten years of age, 45 were aged between 11-17 years, 108 between 18-29 years of age, 27 between 30-39 years of age, 19 between 40- 49 years of age, 11 between 50-59, and five aged over 60.

Palestinian prisoner dies after deliberate medical negligence in Israeli jail: Advocacy group

Friday, 10 February 2023 10:20 AM [ Last Update: Friday, 10 February 2023 10:26 AM ]

An independent and non-governmental rights organization says a Palestinian prisoner has died from medical complications he sustained during his time in Israeli detention centers.

The Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS) announced in a statement that Ahmed Badr Abdullah Abu Ali, a resident of Yatta city in the south of the occupied West Bank city of al-Khalil, died at Soroka Medical Center on Friday morning.

The 48-year-old Abu Ali, whose family says was suffering from chronic heart health failure, diabetes and obesity, was admitted to hospital after his health condition sharply deteriorated.

He was detained in 2012, and sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The PPS held Israeli authorities fully responsible for Abu Ali’s death, and for the fate of all ill Palestinian prisoners being incarcerated at the regime’s detention centers, stating that his death represents yet another crime that the occupying Tel Aviv regime is systematically perpetrating against Palestinians.

It went on to vehemently denounce the Israel Prison Service over its policy of deliberate medical negligence, emphasizing that the practice has been behind the death of many Palestinian prisoners over the past few years.

Two Israelis were killed and several others were injured on Friday in a vehicular ramming operation in Jerusalem near the illegal settlement of Ramot Alon. The Palestinian driver, a resident of occupied East Jerusalem, was shot and killed on the scene.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday afternoon, 31-year old Hussein Qaraqe, a resident of East Jerusalem, crashed his vehicle into a bus stop near the Ramot Alon settlement, also known as Ramot. Two Israelis were killed, including a 20-year-old and a six-year-old. At least five others were injured, according to Israel’s emergency services.

Qaraqe, a father of two according to Palestinian media, was shot and killed on the scene by an off-duty police officer.

Videos circulating on social media showed several armed Israelis pointing their guns towards the vehicle, before shots were fired, killing Qaraqe.

Israel forces demolish another Palestinian house, detain over dozen across West Bank

Israel demolishes another Palestinian house in a neighborhood of East al-Quds as its forces detain over a dozen Palestinians in several areas across the occupied West Bank.

Palestine’s official Wafa news agency, citing media sources, reported that Israeli bulldozers, accompanied by troops, raided the neighborhood of Jabal al-Mukabber at dawn on Monday and cordoned off the house before demolishing it. They claimed the house, belonging to Adham Bashir, had been constructed without a permit.

The so-called permits are almost impossible to obtain. Israel sometimes orders Palestinian owners to demolish their own houses or pay the costs of the demolition.

uring the ensuing confrontations, the heavily-armed Israeli forces opened fire on local youths, injuring more than two dozen by rubber-coated steel bullets. Several Palestinians suffered asphyxiation as a result of inhaling tear gas used by Israeli forces.
