Ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi has been captured, Sky sources say.

Libyans react to news of Gaddafi's capture

Anti-Gaddafi fighters celebrated as news of the fate of the ousted leader emerged

"We have confirmation, dead or alive, that he is in the hands of the National Transitional Council," security editor Sam Kiley said.

"The sources who have confirmed it to Sky are as authoritative as it can get outside the NTC."

There have been conflicting reports about Gaddafi's condition and how the alleged capture happened.

A unnamed senior government official was quoted by Reuters as saying the former leader had died of wounds suffered during his capture. He said Gaddafi had been shot in the head.

"There was a lot of firing against his group and he died," the official said.

I want to see the body first, and not this obviously fake picture that's doing the rounds.
