Inside Prince Harry’s ‘public service’ empire — which is all about the dough

Prince Harry may claim to be all about public service, but he is raking in the dough — creating his own empire where cash is king.

“Spare,” the prince’s bombshell memoir, for which he was paid a rumored $20 million advance, is an instant bestseller, shattering records in the US and the United Kingdom where it sold 1.4 million copies on its first day of publication last week.

He’s also reportedly making more than $100 million in a deal he and his wife Meghan Markle signed with Netflix and their for-profit company Archewell Productions. The company produced a six-part documentary series “Harry and Meghan,” which began streaming last year.

The couple, who resigned from their royal duties in 2021 — losing much of their income in the process — is also working on another seven-part series for the streaming giant featuring interviews with prominent leaders around the world.

Another for-profit company started by the couple, Archewell Audio, brokered a deal that is said to be worth $25 million to produce podcasts for Spotify. Markle’s “Archetypes with Meghan” interview series debuted last year amid resignations of two of the company’s producers.

It’s not known if there will be a second season of Meghan Markle’s “Archetypes” podcast, which is part of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s $25 million Spotify deal.

King Charles taunted by ‘Not My King’ protesters at royal engagement

By Bernie Zilio February 17, 2023

King Charles III held his head high amid a mixed welcome in Buckinghamshire on Thursday.

The British monarch — who ascended the throne in September 2022 after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II — traveled to Milton Keynes to commemorate its new status as a city.

Among the “otherwise pro-crowd” that gathered outside the Church of Christ the Cornerstone, photographers and onlookers alike captured “around 20” anti-monarchy demonstrators — reportedly organized by the group Republic — surrounding the 74-year-old with signs that read, “Not My King” and “Not Fit For Purpose.”
(...)

(...)
Harry and Markle’s relationship with the former’s relatives has been strained since the couple stepped down from their senior royal duties in January 2020.

Tensions boiled over last month when the Duke of Sussex, 38, published a tell-all memoir that revealed all sorts of family secrets, including an alleged physical altercation with his brother, Prince William, and a claim that Charles enjoyed making hurtful comments about redheaded Harry’s “real father.”

Prince Harry may add chapter to paperback of ‘Spare,’ insiders say

By Ian Mohr February 25, 2023

Prince Harry has said that he won’t write a sequel to his blockbuster tell-all “Spare” — but sources tell Page Six there is buzz that he may pen a bonus chapter to be included in the book’s paperback release.

Said an insider: “Prince Harry is already planning to add at least one new chapter… to the paperback version… out later this year or early next, when the hard cover sales have ended.”

The source added that “readers are eager to know [Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle’s] feelings about the royal backlash they have suffered after the airing of their Netflix doc, and the publication of ‘Spare’.”

Random House released the hardcover version of the book on Jan. 10, and Harry himself narrates an audio version. However, details of a paperback release have not yet been announced.

The publisher did not respond to a request for comment, and a rep for Harry huffily denied he’d be including any new chapters in a future edition, telling us via email when we asked for comment, “That’s not true.”

(...)
Then again, the California-based Duke of Sussex certainly has more than enough material left to add to the publication. He has said that his initial draft of the book came in at a whopping 800 pages, but that it was whittled down to about 400.

The book has shattered sales records as the fastest-selling nonfiction book of all time.

‘Handmaid’s Tale’ author: Why Prince Harry ‘would have been murdered’

By Samantha Ibrahim
March 6, 2023

Prolific author Margaret Atwood did not mince words when talking about Prince Harry.

In a new interview with the Times, “The Handmaid’s Tale” author noted that the Duke of Sussex was lucky to be born into today’s royal family.

If the 38-year-old had been part of a more powerful clan, he “would have been murdered by somebody lower down the food chain to get him out of the way,” the 83-year-old told the publication, which noted that she is a fan of “Game of Thrones.”

The remark sparked some backlash on Twitter, with one person posting, according to the Mirror, “Words fail me. What an utterly ridiculous comment to make.”

Meghan Markle, Prince Harry receive invitation to King Charles III’s coronation

By Bernie Zilio March 5, 2023

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle received an invitation to attend King Charles III’s coronation – despite their strained relationship with the royal family.

“I can confirm The Duke has recently received email correspondence from His Majesty’s office regarding the coronation,” a spokesperson for the pair told The Sunday Times on Sunday.

“An immediate decision on whether The Duke and Duchess will attend will not be disclosed by us at this time.”

Harry and Meghan’s kids get official prince and princess titles — despite growing rift

By Lee Brown
March 8, 2023

Despite an ever-deepening rift with the royal family, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s kids are now officially a prince and princess — titles their mom bitterly suggested had been withheld because of race.

The titles emerged Wednesday when a spokesperson for the exiled royals confirmed “that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened” in California on Friday, without her royal relatives flying in from the UK.

Buckingham Palace confirmed that Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie’s titles are official, and will be updated later on the royal family’s website, where they were still “master” and “miss” on Wednesday.

Despite being used for the first time Wednesday, the young royals were officially free to use them once their grandfather, King Charles III, ascended to the throne in September after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II.

The palace said Archie and Lilibet’s titles will be updated on the official royal family website.

Harry and Meghan’s demands could create ‘chaos’ at Charles’ coronation

By Nika Shakhnazarova
March 18, 2023

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are allegedly demanding a place on the Buckingham Palace balcony during King Charles’ coronation — and an acknowledgment during the festivities of their two young kids, according to a report.

The requests, and the couple’s apparent holding out until their wishes are granted, may throw the historic event into “chaos,” royal insiders fear.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex — who recently received their invitations to the May 6 ceremony — are still mulling over whether or not they will make the 5,459-mile-long trip.

If they do go, the exiled royals will be met with a “cold shoulder” from senior members of the royal family, according to a report.

Harry and Meghan are mainly concerned at the role for their kids — Prince Archie, who will turn 4 the day his grandfather is crowned king, and Princess Lilibet, 1, a source close to the palace told OK! Magazine.

Princess Beatrice's Meghan dilemma: Royal who is fiercely loyal to the Crown and her parents faces awkward choices after Fergie distanced herself - while sister Eugenie is BFFs with the Duchess

By HARRIET JOHNSTON FOR MAILONLINE
PUBLISHED: 13:11 GMT, 18 March 2023 | UPDATED: 19:57 GMT, 18 March 2023

While Meghan Markle may have fallen out with Fergie and be besties with Eugenie, there is one royal in the York family who is definitively stuck in the middle.

Princess Beatrice, 34, is notoriously private and, unlike her younger sister or mother, has never offered comment on the romance between her cousin Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex.

The royal mother-of-one has plenty of mutual friends with the former actress, including joint-BFF Misha Nonoo - while the two women are also believed to have attended numerous showbiz parties and royal events together over the years.

But she's also incredibly close to Prince Andrew, who the Sussexes have publicly criticised. It's long been said she was 'devastated' by accusations by Virginia Giuffre that the Duke of York sexually assaulted her.

And she has also always been fiercely loyal to the late Queen, poignantly choosing to wear a gown from the royal for her wedding to Italian property developer Edo Mapelli Mozzi on July 17 2020 at Royal Lodge.

How the Sussexes open criticism of Prince Andrew, as well as their attacks on the royal family, have impacted Meghan's relationship with Beatrice remains unclear.

Meghan Markle ‘should have warned’ Prince Harry over drug revelations: expert

By Nika Shakhnazarova March 23, 2023

Meghan Markle “should have warned” her husband Prince Harry over his candid drug revelations, according to a royal expert.

Page Six exclusively revealed that Harry may find himself with his back against the wall — and stripped of his rights to live in the US — over being too honest about his past drug use.

But according to royal biographer Angela Levin, Markle should have told her husband about the consequences his admissions may have.

“I don’t understand why his wife didn’t warn him,” she told Dan Wootton on GB News.

“He talked to her about everything he was going to say. She is in charge as we both know.”

“She didn’t say ‘be careful, because if you talk too much about the drugs, you might be in trouble,'” Levin said, adding that she’s “concerned” about “why she left him alone on this.”

Why Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are driving four hours to hang out in Hollywood

By Sara Nathan March 25, 2023

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could have easily used a secret “celebrity door” when they arrived for dinner at one of Los Angeles’ most exclusive private clubs.

Instead, a source said, the couple were happy to walk up to the front entrance of the San Vicente Bungalows, a chic West Hollywood hotspot owned by hotelier Jeff Klein, where they were caught on camera by waiting photographers.

Prince Harry, 38, is now believed to be part of an elite group of club members, including many studio execs and celebs, who pay the $4,200-a-year fee.

After having stayed largely quiet in the Santa Barbara area for nearly three years, Harry and Meghan seem to be playing the Hollywood game like the old pro that former “Suits” actress Markle is.
(...)
The couple was joined by two friends as they dined at San Vicente, and happily chatted to fellow guests including actress Kate Hudson as they ordered a heap of healthy dishes, which, the club member said, they barely touched.

The following week, Markle, 41, had to make the long drive for a ladies’ lunch with Archewell employees at Gracias Madre, a trendy vegan hotspot in West Hollywood, to celebrate International Women’s Day. The group paid a visit to a women’s refuge, Harvest Home, where they created a pop-up baby boutique and donated to the charity.

The Sussexes have also been in town to meet with Netflix about new projects, Page Six is told, as part of their multi-million dollar deal with the streamer, and have been out for meals with friends.

King Charles ‘paralyzed by fear’ over Meghan, Harry as he risks ‘humiliation’: expert

By Nika Shakhnazarova
March 28, 2023

King Charles is “paralyzed by fear” when it comes to making decisions about Meghan Markle and his son Prince Harry, a royal expert has claimed.

Royal biographer and commentator Tom Bower believes that the monarch, who is set to be formally crowned on May 6, has struggled with how to handle the Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the historic event.

“Paralyzed by fear and indecision, Charles has failed to suppress the Sussexes’ vile vitriol,” Bower wrote in the Sun.

In calculating whether to allow the Sussexes to attend his coronation, Charles has reverted to his familiar stance — “dithering, worrying about his image.”

He risks his spotlight being stolen by the Sussexes if they attend the historic event.

“Ever since Megxit, Meghan and Harry have humiliated the King and the Royal Family,” he wrote.

Meghan and Harry — who recently received their invitations to the ceremony — are still mulling over whether they will make the 5,459-mile trip.

Meghan Markle’s foundation paid Michelle Obama’s ex press chief nearly $110K

By Ronny Reyes
April 2, 2023

Meghan Markle‘s Archewell Foundation forked over more than $100,000 to Michelle Obama’s former press chief — fueling speculation that the Duchess of Sussex could run for office.

The nonprofit foundation, run by Markle and Prince Harry, paid $109,870 to a public relations firm run by Katie McCormick Lelyveld in 2021, according to tax returns obtained by The Sun.

Lelyveld worked for Michelle from 2007 to 2011, and has also done public relations work for Hillary Clinton and former presidential candidate John Kerry. Archewell’s payment to her PR firm, KMLSA LLC, was listed as “strategic support for social impact PR.”

KMLSA touts Lelyveld’s connections with “influential leaders” around the globe and the firm’s expertise in helping clients “navigate challenges with reputational, political, philanthropic, legal and financial lenses.”

The Archewell Foundation and KMLSA did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.

Meghan Markle, Harry risk ‘fatal, irreversible blow’ to royals at coronation: expert

By Nika Shakhnazarova April 1, 2023

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry risk causing an “irreversible blow” to the royal family if they choose not to attend the King’s coronation, a royal expert claimed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex — who received their invitations to the May 6 ceremony — are still mulling over whether or not they will make the 5,459-mile-long trip from their Montecito, Calif. home to London.

If they do go, the exiled royals will be met with a “cold shoulder” from senior members of the royal family, according to a report.

Now, a royal expert has warned that by skipping the historic celebration — which coincides with Prince Archie’s 4th birthday — the exiled royals may cause a “fatal” rift with the Firm.

“In a universe in which the damage already caused by the rift is still recoverable from, at least in part, a no-show would be the fatal, irreversible blow, both in the public perception as well, potentially, as within the family itself,” royal public relations expert Edward Coram-James told GB News. “It risks drawing out the conflict over the long term.”

Prince Harry, Meghan Markle work 1 hour a week for $13M Archewell charity: tax docs

By Samantha Ibrahim and Rob Bailey-Millado
March 31, 2023

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry vowed to become “financially independent” after abandoning working royal duties — but how much labor are they actually putting in?

In January 2020, Meghan and Harry infamously announced that stepping down from “The Firm” would “provide our family with the space to focus on the next chapter, including the launch of our new charitable entity.”

However, recently released tax documents for their Archewell Foundation report that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex hit the charitable grind just one documented hour a week in 2021.

The nonprofit’s public IRS 990 filing, posted to Archewell’s official website, also revealed that the Beverly Hills-based organization raised just over $13 million from donors — with $10 million coming from one exceedingly generous private benefactor.

Reps for the Archewell Foundation declined to comment — but an insider told The Post that reports of H&M “hardly working,” paired with “standard” tax docs, fail to paint a factual “full picture” of the work being accomplished by the duo’s charity.

Archewell reported dispersing more than $3 million in grants to various refugee resettlement charities and and initiatives distributing millions of COVID-19 vaccines.

Around $4,500 in public donations and an estimated $1,190 was also was accrued from “investment income,” the docs stated, while the foundation paid out $163,085 in salaries.

Meghan Markle to be given 2023 Women of Vision award by Gloria Steinem

By Nika Shakhnazarova April 4, 2023

Meghan Markle is set to receive the 2023 Women of Vision award from famed feminist Gloria Steinem next month.

The Duchess of Sussex’s “global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls” has earned her the flashy new gong at the May 16 ceremony in NYC.

The award — bestowed by the Ms. Foundation, a Brooklyn-based organization that “works to bring attention to the real challenges facing women, especially women of color and low-income women who are living in poverty” — notes that Markle is a “feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity and global role model.”

Steinem, a “founding mother” of the Ms. Foundation, is set to present the duchess with the award at the flashy gala.

Prince Harry ‘infuriated’ after King Charles refused to put Meghan Markle on payroll: book

By Katherine Donlevy
April 7, 2023

Prince Harry was “infuriated” after King Charles refused to put Meghan Markle on the royal family payroll, a new book claims.

The monarch reportedly broke the news to the “spare” prince in 2016, just moments after Harry revealed he planned on marrying the American actress, royal correspondent Robert Jobson wrote in his new book, “Our King.”

“Are you sure, Harold?” Prince William asked his younger brother.

Then-Prince Charles delivered the second blow — rather than congratulating Harry, the future king said he couldn’t afford to pay Meghan as a member of the royal family because he was already bankrolling Camilla and William’s growing family, Jobson states in an excerpt obtained by the Daily Mail.

“This infuriated Harry,” wrote Jobson, who also authored two books on Princess Diana alongside her former bodyguard Ken Wharfe.

The “bombshell” led to one of the initial falling-outs between father and son.

Charles stopped taking Harry’s calls after his son swore at him and repeatedly asked for funds.

Meghan Markle determined her kids will have closeness with King Charles

By Sara Nathan April 15, 2023

The guest list for King Charles’ coronation may be exclusive — but so is the one for his grandson’s birthday on the same day.

Meghan Markle is planning an “intimate” birthday bash for Prince Archie’s 4th birthday on May 6.

Alongside her and Prince Harry’s flock of rescue chickens and three dogs, her mom Doria Ragland, Archie’s school chums, and some mommy friends, there may be a few recognizable faces at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Montecito, California, estate — after all, they “do have celebrities in their life,” one source familiar with the family told Page Six.

Nearly 6,000 miles away, Archie’s dad, Prince Harry, will attempt to race home hours after attending his father King Charles’ coronation at Westminster Abbey in London.

Page Six is told that Harry will be flying commercial, not private, and may even jump on a flight back to California following the 11 a.m. ceremony — meaning he could arrive home in the early evening, thanks to the eight-hour time difference.
(...)
Buckingham Palace and the Sussexes announced this week that Markle, 41, won’t be attending Charles’ coronation, leaving Harry to face his family alone for the first time since the debut of his bombshell memoir “Spare.”

As one highly placed royal insider told Page Six of Harry and his family: “Even though Meghan is not going, it’s still going to be extremely awkward.”

For one thing, Harry is still not talking to his older brother Prince William, multiple royal insiders confirmed.

However, claims that William’s wife, Princess Kate, made the decision to uninvite Markle from the coronation are completely false, according to senior palace officials.

Harry’s appearance also comes after months of tense wrangling between the palace and the Sussexes, as Harry had questions about where he would sit in the abbey — after having been relegated to the second row for his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth’s funeral in September — and what security he would be provided amid his ongoing legal fight with the British government over safety measures.

One source said Markle wants her kids to have a relationship with Charles — as they won’t have one with her own estranged dad, Thomas Markle.
Alexi Lubomirski / Duke and Duchess of Sussex

The family members he remains close to are his cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice — the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, who is not invited.

They will be by his side as he watches his father’s onetime mistress, Queen Consort Camilla, be crowned queen, the title once promised to his beloved mother.

Over half of people in Britain think the Coronation of King Charles should not be paid for by taxpayers, according to a new poll. The crowning of the new monarch is set to cost millions with the full amount as yet unknown.

King Charles 'downgrades' Kate Middleton ahead of coronation and 'makes Meghan the star'

Buckingham Palace shocked the world after it was revealed a photo featuring estranged royals, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, would appear in the official programme for King Charles' coronation

By Lizzie McAllister News reporter & Scarlett O'Toole Showbiz Reporter

King Charles has given Kate Middleton a "downgrade" in contrast to estranged sister-in-law Meghan Markle ahead of his coronation, an expert claimed.

Buckingham Palace shocked the world after it was revealed a photo featuring the estranged Duke and Duchess of Sussex would appear in the official programme for the monarch's coronation on May 6.

Prince Harry and his wife have made no secret of their feud with the Firm and Meghan even elected to skip the historic ceremony next month altogether in what some believe may be the final nail in the coffin of position in the Royal Family.

But body language expert Judi James told the Mirror the use of the photo has elevated Meghan's status, perhaps even on purpose. (...)

‘Psychic’ goat makes royal predictions about Meghan, Harry and William

By Jane Herz
April 24, 2023

You herd it here first.

A goat named Billy can purportedly predict the future using tarot cards — and he’s got some baaad news for the British royal family.

The 6-year-old animal performed a reading relating to the royals, declaring that Prince Harry and Prince William will not make amends at their father’s upcoming coronation.

Billy has been forecasting the future for four years and his owner, Sue Zacharias, describes the pet’s predictions as “spookily accurate.”

A person who wants to know the answer to a question must first pet Billy for several minutes before presenting him with tarot cards, according to Zacharias.

“I have tarot cards especially for animals so he will choose a card with his mouth,” the eccentric owner explained.

Southwest News Service paid a visit to Billy in Jedburgh, Scotland, Monday to ask a series of questions about the royal family.

First, they wanted to know whether warring William and Harry would call a truce in their ongoing feud.

They presented the goat with “yes” and “no” cards, before Billy hesitated for “a couple of minutes” and ultimately chose “no.”

But while Harry won’t be happy with his brother, Billy believes the future looks bright with wife Meghan Markle.

When asked whether the wayward royal will stay with Markle, the goat chose the “yes” card with his mouth.
