That Sonique page doesn't have any player download on it, even though it says it does. Click the links and you go in a circle. That sucks.

I never had a problem with it. However it does show ads which register as ad-ware but they only show on the actual DAP window and don't effect anything else.
Did you completely delete DAP or did you clean all the adds from the program? There is a hack that will take the adds from Download Accelerator Pro. Quote:

Want to get free software without spyware or adware? Just find whatever tools you need on sourceforge.net the world's largest open source website. It has just about every open source project in existence.
Open source means the code used to compile the application into a binary file you can run is freely available and not secret like all proprietary software. This also means that there's a smaller if any chance that it could contain viruses or other malicious code because the code being public anyone would notice it and the project would be banned. Almost all Linux software is like this. Before you download files from sourceforge just make sure the project has windows releases if that is your operating system. |

I found an interesting utility called TOR (The Onion Router). It routes your traffic back and fourth through multiple annon. proxies around the world supposedly making your IP untracable. I don't know much about Internet security but I'd heard about it on a podcast by a top security expert who said it worked very well.
Seems to work for me (docs show how to test if it's working), though even with DSL it slows down your connection significantly. It's worth checking out though if you don't mind the lag. http://tor.eff.org/ |
