Auschwitz 'May not Reflect Real Facts' says Hungary's Far-Right Jobbik MP

An MP for the ultra-far right Jobbik party in Hungary has said that the Auschwitz concentration camp museum "may not reflect real facts".

During a discussion in parliament over a proposal to facilitate visits by teenagers to the former Nazi camp in Poland, Tamas Gaudi-Nagy said schools should not be "forced to take up such an expensive venture" for a site whose historical accuracy is, he believes, doubtful.

Jobbik is Hungary's third largest party and won 17 percent of the vote in the last elections (2010) with an anti-Semitic, anti-EU and anti-Roma agenda. Hungary has one of the largest Jewish populations in the EU.

Gaudi-Nagy's statements sparked criticism from the country's ruling Fidesz party. Its leader, Antal Rogan, said: "Nobody has the right to question the Holocaust, the suffering and death of millions of people."

Registered in 2003, Jobbik has become known for insulting Jews and the country's 700,000-strong Roma population. It founded the Hungarian Guard, an unarmed vigilante group which reminds many of far-right groups during World War II.

"We have an internal problem that is Gypsy crime and an external threat: the Jewish invasion," one of the group's leaders, Jozsef Inancsi, told Channel 4 News.

Hungary's Jewish watchdog on anti-Semitism, the Action and Protection Foundation (TEV), dubbed the party neo-Nazi.

Earlier in May, Jobbik staged a mass rally in Hungary's capital Budapest to protest against a meeting of the World Jewish Congress (WJC) in the city.

Marton Gyongyosi, an outspoken Jobbik MP, told the rally that Hungary had become "subjugated to Zionism."

He famously spurred a controversy last year among Jewish organisations in the country after calling for a list of Jews who pose a "national security risk".

Anti-Semitism is a delicate issue in the country, given that between 500,000 and 600,000 Hungarian Jews were murdered in the Holocaust, according to the Holocaust memorial centre in Budapest. One in three Jews killed in Auschwitz were Hungarian nationals, according to some accounts.

That pretty much sums up their whole ideology: "My mind is made up and I don't want to hear anything contrary to what I already believe." Sort of like mentioning evolution to an evangelical-type.

And WTF kind of indoctrination program are they running over there anyway? Schools are expected to take students to ANOTHER COUNTRY just to force the jew version of history on them? But, I guess no different than dragging school buses full of kids to the Anne Frank Fantasy Exposition in D.C.

The UK spends millions on sending school kids to Poland. These kids know more about the holocaust than their own history....or rather they know a lot of lies about a colossal fraud centred in Poland and that's what passes for 20th Century history, today.

Castration! That’ll cut crime: Jobbik

Posted on 11 July 2013

Chemical castration, the death penalty and ethnic-based prisons should be introduced to deal with “continuously increasing” violent crime, extreme-right party Jobbik spokesman Ádám Mirkoczki said on Tuesday.

The new penal code introduced on Monday is too lenient and will have little effect on improving safety, he said. The situation in small towns and villages was “appalling” despite Prime Minister Viktor Orbán describing law enforcement as satisfactory.

Mirkoczki, whose party campaigns on a virulent anti-Gypsy, law-and-order agenda, described Jobbik’s nominally banned paramilitary organisations as “the most active” and “the most organised” during the recent flooding of the Danube.

“There weren’t many Gypsies to be seen on the river banks apart from those that were paid to fill sandbags,” he said.

As the various nations of Europe become reflections of each other I think common-ground measures re immigrant problems should become the order of the day with the national parties settling on what is considered the most effective policy regardless of which nation that policy first originated.

Unity of purpose in this way will strengthen nationalist groups allowing them to focus on problems right across the Continent creating a zero tolerant geography which is the polar opposite of the welcoming safe-haven we have now.

Putin's Western Allies

Why Europe's Far Right Is on the Kremlin's Side

By Mitchell A. Orenstein

Gabor Vona, president of the Hungarian radical right-wing party "Jobbik," delivers a speech at a rally in Budapest, March 15, 2014. (Bernadett Szabo / Courtesy Rueters)

Given that one of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s stated reasons for invading Crimea was to prevent “Nazis” from coming to power in Ukraine, it is perhaps surprising that his regime is growing closer by the month to extreme right-wing parties across Europe. But, in both cases, Putin’s motives are not primarily ideological. In Ukraine, he simply wants to grab territory that he believes rightly belongs to him. In the European Union, he hopes that his backing of fringe parties will destabilize his foes and install in Brussels politicians who will be focused on dismantling the EU rather than enlarging it.

In Hungary, for example, Putin has taken the Jobbik party under his wing. The third-largest party in the country, Jobbik has supporters who dress in Nazi-type uniforms, spout anti-Semitic rhetoric, and express concern about Israeli “colonization” of Hungary. The party has capitalized on rising support for nationalist economic policies, which are seen as an antidote for unpopular austerity policies and for Hungary’s economic liberalization in recent years. Russia is bent on tapping into that sentiment. In May 2013, Kremlin-connected right-wing Russian nationalists at the prestigious Moscow State University invited Jobbik party president Gabor Vona to speak. Vona also met with Russia Duma leaders including Ivan Grachev, chairman of the State Duma Committee for Energy and Vasily Tarasyuk, deputy chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources and Utilization, among others. On the Jobbik website, the visit is characterized as “a major breakthrough” which made “clear that Russian leaders consider Jobbik as a partner.” In fact, there have been persistent rumors that Jobbik’s enthusiasm is paid for with Russian rubles. The party has also repeatedly criticized Hungary’s “Euro-Atlantic connections” and the European Union. And, more recently, it called the referendum in Crimea “exemplary,” a dangerous word in a country with extensive co-ethnic populations in Romania and Slovakia. It seems that the party sees Putin’s new ethnic politics as being aligned with its own revisionist nationalism.

The Kremlin’s ties to France’s extreme-right National Front have also been growing stronger. Marine Le Pen, the party leader, visited Moscow in June 2013 at the invitation of State Duma leader Sergei Naryshkin, a close associate of Putin’s. She also met with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and discussed issues of common concern, such as Syria, EU enlargement, and gay marriage. France’s ProRussia TV, which is funded by the Kremlin, is staffed by editors with close ties to the National Front who use the station to espouse views close to National Front’s own perspective on domestic and international politics. The National Front wishes to replace the EU and NATO with a pan-European partnership of independent nations, which, incidentally, includes Russia and would be driven by a trilateral Paris-Berlin-Moscow alliance. Le Pen’s spokesman, Ludovic De Danne, recently recognized the results of the Crimea referendum and stated in an interview with Voice of Russia radio that, “historically, Crimea is part of Mother Russia.” In the same interview, he mentioned that he had visited Crimea several times in the past year. Marine Le Pen also visited Crimea in June 2013.

The list of parties goes on. Remember Golden Dawn, the Greek fascist party that won 18 seats in Greece’s parliament in 2012? Members use Nazi symbols at rallies, emphasize street fighting, and sing the Greek version of the Nazi Party anthem. The Greek government imprisoned Nikos Michaloliakos, its leader, and stripped parliamentary deputies of their political immunity before slapping them with charges of organized violence. But the party continues to take to the streets. Golden Dawn has never hidden its close connections to Russia’s extreme right, and is thought to receive funds from Russia. One Golden Dawn**–linked website reports that Michaloliakos even received a letter in prison from Moscow State University professor and former Kremlin adviser Alexander Dugin, one of the authors of Putin’s “Eurasian” ideology. It was also Dugin who hosted Jobbik leader Vona when he visited Moscow. In his letter, Dugin expressed support for Golden Dawn’s geopolitical positions and requested to open a line of communication between Golden Dawn and his think tank in Moscow. Golden Dawn’s New York website reports that Michaloliakos “has spoken out clearly in favor of an alliance and cooperation with Russia, and away from the ‘naval forces’ of the ‘Atlantic.’”

Finally, a cable made public by WikiLeaks shows that Bulgaria’s far right Ataka party has close links to the Russian embassy. Reports that Russia funds Ataka have swirled for years, but have never been verified. But evidence of enthusiasm for Russia’s foreign policy goals is open for all to see. Radio Bulgaria reported on March 17 that Ataka’s parliamentary group “has insisted that Bulgaria should recognize the results from the referendum for Crimea’s joining to the Russian Federation.” Meanwhile, party leader Volen Siderov has called repeatedly for Bulgaria to veto EU economic sanctions for Russia.

In addition to their very vocal support for Russia’s annexation of Crimea within the EU, Jobbik, National Front, and Ataka all sent election observers to validate the Crimea referendum (as did the Austrian Freedom Party, the Belgian Vlaams Belang party, Italy’s Forza Italia and Lega Nord, and Poland’s Self-Defense, in addition to a few far-left parties, conspicuously Germany’s Die Linke). Their showing was organized by the Russia-based Eurasian Observatory For Democracy & Elections, a far-right NGO “opposed to Western ideology.” The EODE specializes in monitoring elections in “self-proclaimed republics” (Abkhazia, Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh) allied with Moscow, according to its website.

The Putin government’s cordial relations with Europe’s far right sit oddly, to say the least, with his opposition to “Nazis” in the Ukrainian government. Yet Putin’s dislike for Ukrainian “fascists” has nothing to do with ideology. It has to do with the fact that they are Ukrainian nationalists. The country’s Svoboda and Right Sector parties, which might do well in the post–Viktor Yanukovych Ukraine, stand for independence in a country that Putin does not believe should exist separate from Russia.

Similarly, Russian support of the far right in Europe has less to do with ideology than with his desire to destabilize European governments, prevent EU expansion, and help bring to power European governments that are friendly to Russia. In that sense, several European countries may only be one bad election away from disaster. In fact, some would say that Hungary has already met it. As support for Jobbik increases, the anti-democratic, center-right government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban has tacked heavily to the right and recently signed a major nuclear deal with Russia. Russia plans to lend Hungary ten billion euro to construct two new reactors at its Paks nuclear plant, making Hungary even more dependent for energy on Russia. Jobbik’s Vona wants to go even further, taking Hungary out of the EU and joining Russia’s proposed Eurasian Union.

European parliamentary elections, which are scheduled for the end of May, are expected to result in a strong showing for the far right. A weak economy, which was weakened further by the European Central Bank’s austerity policies, has caused the extreme right vote to surge. Current polls show the far-right parties in France and Holland winning the largest share of seats in their national delegations. Brussels strategists worry that 20 percent of members of the new European parliament could be affiliated with parties that wish to abolish the EU, double the current number. That could cause an EU government shutdown to rival the dysfunction of Washington and deal a major blow to efforts to enlarge the Union and oppose Russian expansionism.

It is strange to think that Putin’s strategy of using right-wing extremist political parties to foment disruption and then take advantage -- as he did in Crimea -- could work in southern and western Europe as well. Or that some of the extreme right parties in the European parliament, who work every day to delegitimize the European Union and whose numbers are growing, may be funded by Russia. Yet these possibilities cannot be dismissed. Russia might soon be able to disrupt the EU from within.

To counter Russia, European leaders should start launching public investigations into external funding of extreme-right political parties. If extensive Russia connections are found, it would be important to publicize that fact and then impose sanctions on Russia that would make it more difficult for it to provide such support. Pro-European parties must find a way to mobilize voters who are notoriously unwilling to vote in European parliament elections. Europe will also have to rethink the austerity policies that have worsened the grievances of many Europeans and pushed them to support the anti-system, anti-European right. Although Germany has banned extreme right parties from representation, other countries have not. Germany may have therefore underestimated the extent of damage austerity policies could do to the European project and should rethink how its excessive budget cutting, monetary prudence, and export surpluses are affecting politics in the rest of Europe.

Putin’s challenge to Europe must be taken seriously. Rather than making another land grab in his back yard, he might watch patiently from the sidelines at the end of May as pro-Russia far-right parties win a dramatic election victory in European parliamentary elections. These elections could weaken the European Union and bring Russia’s friends on the far right closer to power.

Default Far-right may gain in Hungary vote

Quote:
(Reuters) - Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban looks likely to win a second term in parliamentary elections on Sunday, but the far-right Jobbik party is on course for a strong showing.

A good result for Jobbik, accused by critics of being anti-Semitic and stoking antipathy toward Hungary's Roma minority, could be a harbinger of how other nationalist right-wing parties will perform in European Parliament elections next month.

In a poll published on Thursday, Orban's Fidesz scored 36 percent, Jobbik had 15 percent support and the Socialist-led leftist alliance had 18 percent.

Orban's centre-right Fidesz is certain to have enough seats to form a government, a sign voters are not concerned about idiosyncratic policies that have angered the European Union and hurt foreign investment.

The only question mark is whether Fidesz will retain the two-thirds majority that allows it to change the constitution.

Orban, 50, portrays himself as a champion of national sovereignty and has implemented policies that have hurt banks and many foreign-owned businesses.

He says the measures, including a nationalization of $14 billion in private pension assets, were needed to stabilize Hungary's shaky finances and prevent a Greek-style collapse.

He has pledged to stick to his policies if reelected, continuing to cut energy prices and getting rid of foreign currency mortgages that are burdening households. Banks fear this could inflict further losses.

Critics say Orban has used his mandate to curb democratic checks and balances and the freedom of the media.

While many investors have been scared off, the Hungarian people have been won over by his government's steps to cut personal income taxes and slash energy bills for households.

"I want them to continue what they started, the utility price cuts," said Eva Repassy, 53, a teacher at a rally on Saturday that attracted hundreds of thousands of Orban supporters.

ON THE RISE

However, many Hungarians, especially in the poorer north-east, feel the past four years have not brought any improvement in quality of life, or jobs, aside from public works programs.

The leftist alliance led by Socialist Attila Mesterhazy has promised to cut the prices of basic foods and raise the minimum wage. But its support has faltered ahead of the vote.

The alliance has suffered from infighting over leadership, a roster of candidates that look similar to the team that suffered a crushing defeat in 2010, and a corruption scandal.

For voters who are disappointed in Fidesz that leaves Jobbik as an option. Polls show the party is enjoying a late surge and may even win as much 20 percent of the popular vote.

And a robust result could help Jobbik in European Parliament elections due in May.

Cas Mudde, Assistant Professor at the School for Public and International Affairs at the University of Georgia, said he saw a pattern of far-right parties in Europe doing fairly well in elections, but without any spectacular gains.

That was the case with the National Front in French local elections last weekend and was likely to be repeated by Jobbik in Hungary, he said. National issues are most important in voters' choices but there were common factors too pushing people towards European far-right parties.

"They appeal to a similar type of voters who are dissatisfied with mainstream parties, and who are upset about immigrants, are focused on crime and want to maintain a welfare state for the natives," Mudde told Reuters.

RADICAL

Jobbik presents itself as the only viable choice for Hungarians who feel they have been let down by all of the country's post-communist governments, both right and left.

The party pledges to create jobs, be tough on crime, renegotiate state debt and hold a referendum on EU membership. It also says it will hold corrupt politicians to account.

While Jobbik has softened its image in a bid to appeal to a broader group of voters, it has not abandoned some of its more radical ideas.

Some of its politicians are still openly anti-Semitic. It still counts on support from radical far-right groups. And even though the uniformed vigilante group Hungarian Guard was banned in 2009 it was replaced by several other organizations, such as the New Hungarian Guard.

In the eastern town of Gyongyos, where Jobbik leader Gabor Vona is running for a parliament seat, Attila Sebok told Reuters he voted for Fidesz four years ago, but will now choose Jobbik.

Sebok, 44, said the government failed to create jobs, raised many taxes and has not clamped down on rampant crime.

"I voted for Fidesz and regretted it," he said.

Peter Kreko at thinktank Political Capital said Jobbik could win around 10 percent of 199 seats in Hungary's new, smaller parliament. In 2010 it ended up with 12.2 percent of the seats.

"If they manage to achieve a better election result than in 2010, they will present it as a huge success," Kreko said. "This could positively impact their European Parliament election result, and Jobbik's growth potential."

Ukraine will never be the same again - a report from Donieck

Ukraine will never be the same as it used to be in the past 23 years. Ukraine's "territorial integrity", which Western countries and unfortunately, the Hungarian diplomatic corps keep repeating subserviently is nothing but an illusion any more, says Jobbik's deputy parliamentary group leader Márton Gyöngyösi, who participated in the election in South-East Ukraine as an observer.

"According to Together-Dialogue for Hungary Alliance you pose a national security risk since you participated as an observer in the elections held in the separatist counties of South-East Ukraine while you are also a vice president of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Hungarian National Assembly. In the opposition party alliance's view, you are representing Russian interests, which is proven by your trip to Donieck."

"It's always rather amusing when Together-DH voices accusations of other politicians of serving foreign interests and quotes national security risks. If there is a party which openly and demonstrably serves foreign interests in Hungary, it's the party alliance established by Gordon Bajnai. You may remember that Bajnai disappeared after the Y2010 elections for two years: he was touring the USA at his American employers' expense. Having gone through the appropriate education and training courses, he came home and established a foundation called Patriotism and Progress, which received over one bn HUF subsidy by 2013 (within a year, that is) from the Center for American Progress, a Foundation affiliated to the Democratic Party of the US. As a matter of fact, this is the amount that we know about and was declared by the foundation, but as for how much additional subsidy they received, I will leave it to the readers' imagination. Bajnai's foundation was one of those non-governmental organizations that were instrumental in the creation of Together-DH party alliance. We know very well that the US does not hand out millions of dollars to foreign NGOs for charity purposes. These subsidies always come at a price: the subservient representation of US geopolitical interests. In our modern world, nation states are no longer subdued by direct application of power well-known from the era of colonization. Instead, they use "soft power." This is a complex and highly effective weapons arsenal, which incorporates an obscure network of media, propaganda, the intelligence services, credit rating institutes and non-governmental organizations. Their job is to exert political and economic influence and pressure. By now, it has become completely obvious for even the politically blind and deaf how the American government applies the tools of soft power and the vassal network run by Bajnai in order to exercise pressure on Hungary. If there was just a mere glow of what once was the fire of national sovereignty in Hungary, then Gordon Bajnai and his partners would be spending the rest of their years in a prison cell for high treason. It is a telltale sign about the current state of the nation that they are not. I spoke a bit more about Bajnai and his party than necessary, as the outcome of the elections has demonstrated that you shouldn't even waste two compound sentences on them. Yet this phenomenon reveals more about the state of Hungarian political life, our national sovereignty and the geopolitical efforts of the US than anything else. The Ukrainian crisis, which is the subject of this interview, has been driven by very similar underlying processes."

Voodoo, stigmatization, propaganda

"Let's start with the beginning! How did you get to Donieck and why was it important for Jobbik to delegate an observer? Your trip was reported in the American Vice magazine as well. In fact, I even read articles saying that Jobbik sent pseudo-observers to Donieck. So what is the truth? What's your reaction to the fact that Jobbik's trip to Eastern Ukraine is reported as a key theme in the US media?"

"Ukraine is the latest front in the geopolitical conflict between the West and Russia. When the Western colonization, or to use the politically correct terminology: the Euro-Atlantic integration of Central Eastern Europe was completed, the front moved to the east, closer to Russia. As I mentioned before, this conflict is fought by sophisticated tools, including media manipulation, propaganda, and of course, a voodoo-like labelling and stigmatization as well. So we'd better keep that in mind when we read the adjectives stamped on the observers of the Donieck elections by the Western media. I am not surprised, in fact, Jobbik feels honoured to enjoy this special attention of the Western media, with particular regard to our statements and activities related to the Ukrainian crisis. The reason is that we are the only significant political force in Europe that can draw ruthlessly accurate conclusions and has the courage to speak out and stand for them equally ruthlessly, in Hungary and abroad as well. In other words, the reason why Jobbik is the No.1 enemy of Western power centres is because we are independent, incorruptible and cannot be subdued to Euro-Atlantic interests. As far as the observation of the Donieck elections of November 2 are concerned, my colleague Adrienn Szaniszló and I got a personal invitation from the chairman of the central election committee. She stayed in Rostov-on-Don on the Russian side and observed the elections held in the refugee camp that was set up for those who had fled the Donbass region and the atrocities of the Ukrainian army. We were happy to accept the invitation since we were curious what the truth was that the unilateral and biased Western propaganda had been trying to hide. I don't appreciate opinion shapers who like to discuss social, political and economic problems and to make sweeping statements from a safe distance. As an MP, I believe in experience gained through personal presence. We went there to see the damage and pain caused by the civil war with our own eyes, to talk about it with these people, to listen to their personal accounts, stories, tragedies, and of course to observe the election process."

"What was your experience in the people's republic? What conditions can you report? What is Western media coverage hiding from us?"

Arriving at the border from Russia, what we immediately noticed was the depressing presence of civil war: a large number of armed rebels, the constant sight of military vehicles, our military and security escort were permanent reminders of where we were. On the road between the border and Donieck, then inside the city of Donieck and also when we were travelling to the north of Donieck to a town called Gorlovka near the frontline, we always noted how little civilian movement was on the roads, and how many military checkpoints there were. You could hardly see any people in the streets, even by daylight. After dark there is a night curfew, so Donieck, which had nearly one million inhabitants before the war broke out, looks like a huge ghost town now. By night, you could hear the low rumble of cannons several times. The aftermath of war is striking to the eye in the villages, in the agglomeration of Donieck and in the entire area of Gorlovka (there were heavy clashes between the rebels and the Ukrainian army there). You can often see walls "decorated" with bullet marks, burnt-out military vehicles, cartridge and rocket shells. In spite of all that, the town got lively on the election day, people were standing in long lines in front of the poll stations, waiting patiently for their turn. Even though the procedure of the elections could not be considered ideal due to the civil war and the flood of hundreds of thousands of refugees, we can say that there was a very high voter turnout in Donieck, Luhansk and the refugee camps in Russia as well. People were apparently very interested in casting their ballots, you could see how aware they were that they were exercising their rights of self-determination, deciding about their own fate and future. The declaration of the will of these millions of people deserves respect even if the circumstances didn't make this election a typical and ideal one.

No illusions

"Russia is the only country to recognize the elections. What can you expect in a situation like this? What changes can we expect now that the elections are over? Will there be peace?"

“The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Kremlin, more accurately Yuri Usakov, the foreign policy advisor of President Putin said as much that Russia respects the outcome of the elections. It is a little but significant difference. In my view, the only reason why Moscow did not go as far as to officially recognize the election is a tactical reason. Such a step obviously would have further deepened a Russia-West conflict that is already in ominous depths, thus compromising the acceptance of the election results that can be considered historic. I don't want to overemphasize the role of these diplomatic subtleties but it is a clear indication of the calm and responsible attitude that Russia demonstrates with regard to the situation. What does the future hold? I am neither a clairvoyant, nor do I appreciate speculations, but I think we can safely say that Ukraine will never be the same as it was in the past 23 years. Ukraine's "territorial integrity", which Western countries and unfortunately, the Hungarian diplomatic corps keep repeating subserviently is nothing but an illusion any longer. During the year of this raging crisis, the Ukrainian leadership had several opportunities to save Ukraine. However, such a move would have required an independent, sovereign, truly Ukrainian political elite, one that considers the interests of the entire Ukrainian population, including the Russian-speaking citizens of Eastern Ukraine. Instead, a power group that is supported by the Soros and the Konrad Adenauer Foundations, the Western propaganda, and is completely subordinated to the Euro-Atlantic, i.e. the US interests was raised into power by a coup d'état. They work on promoting US geopolitical interests instead of the Ukrainian people. The geopolitical interest of the US is to reach as far as the Russian border by annexing, or to use the politically correct term, by "integrating" the entire territory of Ukraine. If a government declares war on its own citizens, it immediately loses the confidence of those citizens as well as the right to represent them. What did Mr. Turchinov, Yatseniuk and Poroshenko expect after they launched a war against the Russian minority in Eastern Ukraine and massacred thousands of civilians, grossly violating international law? Did they expect the Russian minority to participate in the Ukrainian elections on October 26 and choose between Poroshenko's and Yatseniuk's party and the Ukrainian Chauvinist Svoboda? And what did the West expect? Did they expect the Russians of Eastern Ukraine to turn to the West with tears of joy in their eyes, after the West exceptionally failed to hold the puppet government, which had been put into power through a coup d'état, accountable for respecting minority and human rights, and, in fact, was instrumental in a genocide? Even the thought is offensive and absurd. The citizens of Donieck and Luhansk did what they had to do: they made a decision about their own fate. Now it depends on Kyiv and of course, the owners of the Kyiv government whether they can deliberate the issue soberly. If they can, there will be peace, if not, then the conflict will escalate and have unforeseeable consequences."

"What are the implications of your ban from Ukraine?"

"It means that I cannot enter the territory of Ukraine in the future. I'm not quite heart-broken by the news that I can't enter the territory of a Chauvinist country that wages war against its own people. The only painful thing is that the Lower Carpathian region forms a part of this terror state. So we have no choice but to put even more effort into gaining territorial autonomy for the Lower Carpathians."

Terrorists or patriots

"The Ukrainian counter-intelligence referred to the observers of the Eastern Ukrainian elections as pseudo-observers, who "support the terrorists." By the way, did you meet any terrorists?"

"This case shows clearly that the Ukrainian government can't even write its own communiqués, their terminology is determined by the Western forces controlling them. It's a Western practice to label everybody a terrorist if they refuse to surrender immediately and to succumb to invasion or tolerate the violation of their rights. The people I met in and around Donieck were all dedicated patriots and freedom fighters, who confronted the aggression of the Ukrainian central power."

"Is it true that you crossed the border illegally to enter the region coming from Moscow?"

"It depends on your point of view. It is a fact that I flew to Rostov through Moscow, and then we drove to Donieck. I am not aware of any law forbidding this. We arrived at a border, where a uniformed border guard asked for my passport and I gave it to him. Is it my fault that the border guard was not Ukrainian? What was I supposed to do, find one?"

"The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs disowned you, as they wrote: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade disapproves of any acts attempting to justify the legitimacy of the elections in question, regardless whether such attempts were made by a representative of a foreign or a domestic political force, organization or party." Then they added: "The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary confirms its stance for an independent, democratic, stable, modern and prosperous Ukraine existing within its internationally recognized borders." How do you evaluate the ministry's communiqué? Interestingly enough, such disowning statement was not issued after some government-related public officials had been banned from the USA."

"The Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is so pathetic, I can't even be angry with them any more. They only do what is in their core. Ever since World War II, Hungary has always been subdued to foreign interests: it was controlled from Moscow for forty years, and has been controlled from Washington since the collapse of Communism. The ministry's communiqué clearly shows that the current activity of Hungarian diplomacy would not require more than two employees: one who handles the fax machine, and a linguist who translates the incoming orders from English to Hungarian. Anybody still talking about an "independent, democratic, stable, modern and prosperous" Ukraine, is not facing the reality, to put it mildly. Most of these features did not even characterize Ukraine a year ago, but they sound even comical in the current situation which is characterized by the exact opposite of these adjectives. As far as the legitimizing effect of election observation is concerned, let me make it clear that it is a fundamental misinterpretation of what election observation means. I can only form my opinion based on what I saw and experienced in nearly a dozen poll stations during the limited period of 12 hours that I spent there. I was talking to people, who were fighting their tears back to tell about their personal fate and plight, and who cast their ballots feeling the significance of the elections and hoping for a better future. It is a case of outrageous arrogance if someone is not willing to recognize the institution of national self-determination unless it is in compliance with his own geopolitical interests. These double standards are not to be tolerated, people's opinions must be respected!

Hungary’s Viktor Orban: Washington’s New Enemy Image

Hungary and its populist nationalist Prime Minister Viktor Orban have come into the cross-hairs of Washington’s political elites. His sin? Not buckling under to the often destructive diktats of the Brussels EU Commission; attempting to define a Hungarian national identity. But his cardinal sin is his deepening relationship with Russia and his defiance of Washington in signing an agreement with Gazprom for bringing the Russian South Stream gas pipeline into the EU via Hungary.

Orban has himself undergone a political journey since he was elected as Hungary’s second-youngest Prime Ministers in 1998. Back then he oversaw the entry of Hungary along with Poland and the Czech Republic into NATO over Russia’s protest, and into the EU. As Prime Minister during far more prosperous economic times in the EU, Orban cut taxes, abolished university tuition for qualified students, expanded maternity benefits, and attracted German industry with low-cost Hungarian labor. One of his American “advisers” then was James Denton, linked with the Color Revolution Washington NGO, Freedom House. Orban seemed the darling of Washington’s neo-cons. In 2001 he was given the neoconservative American Enterprise Institute’s Freedom Award.

But in 2010 after six years in the opposition, Orban returned, this time with a resounding majority for his Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Union Party, Fidesz for short. In fact Fidesz won a 68% supermajority in Parliament, giving it the necessary votes to alter the Constitution and pass new laws, which it did. Ironically, in a case of the pot calling the kettle black, the United States Obama Administration and the European Parliament for placing too much power in the hands of Fidesz. Orban was accused by Daniel Cohn-Bendit of the European Greens of making Hungary on the model of Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez. He was definitely not playing by the approved Brussels Rulebook for politically submissive EU politicians. Fidesz began to be demonized in EU media as the Hungarian version of United Russia and Orban as the Hungarian Putin. That was in 2012.

Now its getting alarming for the Atlanticists and their EU followers. Orban has defied EU demands to stop construction of Russia’s important South Stream gas pipeline.

Russia’s South Stream gas pipeline would guarantee EU gas together with German-Russian Nord Stream that could bypass the war in Ukraine something Washington bitterly opposes for obvious reasons

Last January Orban’s government announced a € 10 billion deal with the Russian state nuclear energy company to refurbish Hungary’s only nuclear power plant at Paks, originally built during the Soviet era with Russian technology.

That caused some attention in Washington. Similarly when Orban criticized the United States this past summer for failing to ultimately resolve the global financial crisis its banks and its lax regulation caused, and praised China, Turkey and Russia as better models. He declared in words not too different from what I have often used that Western democracies, “will probably be incapable of maintaining their global competitiveness in the upcoming decades and will instead be scaled down unless they are capable of changing themselves significantly.” In addition, Orban’s government managed to free Hungary from decades of devastating IMF bondage. In August 2013, the Hungarian Economic Ministry announced that it had, thanks to a “disciplined budget policy,” repaid the remaining €2.2 billion owed to the IMF. No more onerous IMF-forced state privatizations or conditionalities. The head of the Hungarian Central Bank then demanded the IMF close its offices in Budapest. In addition, echoing Iceland, the State Attorney General brought charges against the country’s three previous prime ministers because of the criminal amount of debt into which they plunged the nation. That’s a precedent that surely causes cold sweat in some capitals of the EU or Washington and Wall Street.

But the real alarm bells rang when Orban and his Fidesz party approved a go-ahead, together with neighboring Austria, of the South Stream Russian pipeline, ignoring EU claims it violated EU rules. Orben proclaimed at a meeting with Germany’s Horst Seehofer in Munich on November 6, “”Es lebe die österreichisch-ungarische Energiemonarchie” („The Austro-Hungarian Energy Monarchy Lives.“)

The US elites sounded the alarm immediately. The ultra-establishment New York Times ran a lead editorial, “Hungary’s Dangerous Slide.” They declared, “The government of Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary is sliding toward authoritarianism and defying the fundamental values of the European Union — and getting away with it.”

The Times revealed the real cause of Washington and Wall Street alarm: “Hungary’s most recent expression of contempt for the European Union is its passage of a law on Monday that clears the way for Russia’s South Stream natural gas pipeline to traverse Hungary. The new law is in clear violation of the European Parliament’s call in September for member states to cancel South Stream, and of the economic sanctions against Russia imposed by the European Union and the United States after Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Instead of issuing tepid expressions of concern over antidemocratic policies, the European Union should be moving to sanction Hungary. Jean-Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission, should exercise his power to force Mr. Navracsics to resign.” Tibor Navracsics, has just been named the new European Commissioner of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, a post in Brussels that has arguably little to do with gas pipelines.

Next we can expect the National Endowment for Democracy and the usual US Government-backed NGO’s to find an excuse to launch mass opposition protests against Fidesz and Orban for his unforgivable crime of trying to make Hungary’s energy independent of the US-created insanity in Ukraine.

The head of the Hungarian right: We want the Polish-Hungarian-Croatian federation!

Datum: Srijeda, 28 Kolovoz 2013 23:03

President of the largest Hungarian right opposition party Jobbik, Gabor Vona said in an interview with French television that he wants to create a Polish-Hungarian-Croatian Federation oriented towards cooperation with Russia.
One of the most popular French TV Internet Pro Russia TV, which broadcasts news from Russia and Eastern Europe, announced a meeting with President of the Movement for a Better Hungary (Jobbik Magyarorszagert Mozgalom, skr. Jobbik), the largest opposition party, the right in Hungary. Gabor Vona professor of history, and Jobbik was founded during the study early 2000s. A representative of the young generation of Hungarian politicians who oppose the remnants of the former communist structures, Euro-Atlantic and neoliberal politics of Hungarian government, as well as seeking the preservation of Hungarian independence and traditional values. The party in 2009 received 14 percent of the vote in elections to the European Parliament, and the 2010th Hungarian parliamentary elections, winning 16% of the vote and 46 seats. According to the most current poll, Jobbik enjoys the support of more than 20% of Hungarian voters, making it the second volume and the largest opposition party. More than a third of young people in Hungary supports Jobbik, a large number of voters the party has among the Hungarian minority in neighboring countries.

Gabor Vona believes that the last 23 years of democratic Hungary does not bring any changes to the pre-communist period, because, as he says, Hungary still ruled by men who were associated with the former communist regime. 'I must also mention our entry into the European Union because the EU has helped this process, which allowed - after the end of communist dictatorship - the Socialists to gain legitimacy and maintain political and economic power in Hungary. European Union fraternizing with these people, help them, "said Vona for French television.

President of Jobbik considers European Union failure of the project and believes it will cease existence in the near future. According to him, Western Europe, led by France and Germany see Eastern Europe only as a recruiting cheap labor and a market for their products.

Although our Croatian public views Viktor Orban and Fidesz as opponents of European bureaucracy, the head of the Hungarian right opposition disagrees with such qualifications of current Hungarian prime minister. 'If we look at important strategic issues, economic exploitation of Hungary, or the future of the European Union, we can not see any difference between them (the Socialist Party and Fidesz). Viktor Orban wants to appear as a freedom fighter in Hungary, but at the same time, during the session of the EU authorities, he constantly sign all decisions, documents and decrees that go towards creating a United States of Europe, "explained Vona their views on the current Hungarian government. He advocates for Europe of the Nations, and says he wants "real Europe, faithful to its Christian, Greek and Roman values, a Europe that is based on these values, which protects those values and defend them from any attack."

Jobbik today, like most right-wing Eurosceptic parties committed to cooperation with Russia, which sees an alternative model of neo-liberal and multi-cultural western Europe. In May in Moscow officially signed an agreement on connecting Jobbik International Eurasian movement, a political organization near the Kremlin official. But what is not common for the European right wing, is Jobbik's closeness with Turkey. as we touched on before in this thread with the so called Pan Turanism idiocy Gabor Vona expalins this controversial foreign policy attitudes as' euroatlantizam in Hungary being over and must be replaced by Eurasian policy, which would represent a break with the timing of our strategy with U.S. foreign policy. (...) In Hungary, which is in the middle of Europe, midway between East and West, it is important to maintain good relations with these two powers. Well a rather stupid explanation. So if you are against US hegemony you must run to the arms of Turkey, which itself is a US puppet, not to mention the fact that it has always had hostile intentions, being an enemy of Europe and seeking to this day to penetrate through its soft underbelly in the Balkans. Maybe that's another reason these idiots support shiptars and their expansion into Serbian lands. Short sighted chauvinist scum just so thay can do some damage to their neighbor, yet they want alliance with a nationalist Russia LOL!

Gabor Vona said he hopes achieving 'the Polish-Hungarian-Croatian axis' that would represent an alternative to European integration. By Voni, 'all three countries have a similar history between East and West, where we had to survive in the middle of Europe, which was not easy achievement even for the Croats or Hungarians or Poles.' In support of the creation of the Polish-Hungarian-Croatian Federation, by the President of Jobbik, speaks not only to the historical closeness of our countries, but also of common interest. 'We can see that our problems are similar, our geo-strategic situation is identical, and our vision of the future may be the same. Such a block between East and West, North-South axis, with access to the sea and to the north and the south, contained the very important economic and commercial communication routes, which would result in political and economic strengthening in relation to the European Union, the exercise of our interests and the creation of economic, social and political conditions necessary for our survival between East and West ', explains his geopolitical vision Vona.

Hungary right opposes American hegemony in the world said Jobbik leader : ' the political leadership of the United States - whether it 's Republicans or Democrats - has been set as the world's policeman , retains its power by manipulating the global economy ... "

Vona also addressed the issue of gay rights on the occasion of increasingly frequent and increasing demands of homosexual communities in European countries, particularly in France. ' I think this is the last act of the sick and decadent Europe , and I will do all that it does not infiltrate in Hungary. ( ... ) If Jobbik came to power , we will not only block the legal framework ( homosexual ' marriage ') , but even they may not be ' gay parade ' . I would not want to live in the country and I do not want my children to grow up in a country where the sick portrayed as healthy, valuable as worthless and ugly as beautiful. I'd like to redefine these things according to their original meaning. '

Finally , Vona referred to the remarks of certain Hungarian leftist political commentators and politicians of Fidesz and the Socialist Party of Jobbiks uncapability to rule land and possible international intervention in the event of arrival of the party in power . He claims that within the university and public administration there are a number of professionals who are members of Jobbik and will be made available to the party in the event of its coming to power . Possible international intervention in response to the creation of a patriotic government in Hungary is considered the real danger that the solution can only be seen in the current Jobbik connecting with countries that would be ready to ' defend freedom and justice for the Hungarians . "

Hungary next year expect the parliamentary and local elections as well as elections to the European Parliament , and is considered to Jobbik could achieve great success in all the three- election. According to independent surveys , and even Jobbik hostile agencies , the party will win more than 20 percent of the vote , thus threatening the Socialist Party and become the largest opposition force in the neighboring country.

Jobbik calls on the government to ban the Simon Wiesenthal Center's Hungarian operation

According to Jobbik, the Simon Wiesenthal Centre's Hungarian operation poses a serious national security risk so the party calls on the government to ban the organization and expel its non-Hungarian employees from the country. According to MP György Szilágyi, the organization incites hatred and attacks Hungary on a regular basis systematically interfering in Hungarian domestic matters.

Szilágyi informed the press about Jobbik's position on the organization at Tuesday's press conference, soon after it was revealed that the Simon Wiesenthal Center wrote a complaining letter to the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) due to an earlier “incident” when a group of football fans held up a sign at the MTK vs Ferencvaros football match on August 17 in Budapest, which said "In memoriam Csatáry László".

Hungarian far-Right calls Israeli media biased

By SAM SOKOL
09/01/2013 23:51

Israel’s media is biased, the Hungarian nationalist party Jobbik told The Jerusalem Post on Friday.

Replying to a request for an interview with party leaders sent by the Post earlier this year, a party spokesman said that his organization has had “negative past experiences concerning the Israeli media” and asserted that “we cannot hope for a non-biased interview.”

Hungary’s third-largest parliamentary faction, Jobbik has been described as a “neo-Nazi” party and “a fundamental threat to Hungary’s democracy” by the World Jewish Congress.

Earlier this year Jobbik chairman Gabor Vona accused President Shimon Peres of praising Jews for buying property in Hungary.

“The Israeli conquerors, these investors, should look for another country in the world for themselves, because Hungary is not for sale,” Vona told supporters during a protest in May.

Goodbye to lower utility bills, say hello to energy policy dictated by Brussels

Jobbik is astonished to learn that the EU summit made a unanimous decision yesterday to establish a so-called energy union. Viktor Orbán gave Hungary's consent to eliminating our nation's energy independence. Under the disguise of the energy union, Brussels will practically be able to interfere with any energy policy decisions of the member states.

In the past few months, Hungary got a first-hand experience what this means. Getting the South Stream gas pipeline cancelled, niggling over the enhancement of the Paks Nuclear Plant as well as the long-term gas supply contract all indicate that Brussels is far more invested in representing Transatlantic business interests than the energy security of Hungary or Central Europe.

We are dumbfounded by Viktor Orbán's unconditional support of the decision as the so-called final Council statement accepted by the leaders of the member states contains a specific reference to ensuring that public intervention is compatible with the internal market. This sentence clearly means the end of nationally regulated energy prices, in other words, lower energy bills. In addition, Hungary will not be allowed to conclude long-term gas supply contracts without the EU's approval. Greater transparency in EU language means interference with decisions.

In Jobbik's view, this means giving up Hungary's energy independence sinfully for little benefits, in return for some "shiny trinkets."

Lajos Kepli, MP in charge of Jobbik's energy policy

Party leader Vona dispatches racists from Jobbik

Those, who think that this party distinguishes people based on race, religion or anything else, are by mistake members of the party – Gabor Vona said. The party leader sent a message to anti-Roma and anti-Semitic members to find themselves a new party, origo.hu said.

Gábor Vona was talking about it at a press conference held in the Parliament. The first man of the party called the victory of Lajos Rig (Jobbik) historic significant after the next day of the Tapolca elections.

No place for racists in Jobbik

Gabor Vona wants to do a people’s party process in Jobbik. According to Hir24, the politician said he assumed the responsibility for their own “wildings” and he would “trim them off”.

He sent a message to the anti-Semitic and anti-Roma members: Jobbik does not have and will not have any program which distinguishes people based on their race, religion or any other things. As he said, if someone would expect that, he or she was by mistake in the party. They told them to find another party.

Jobbik is looking more and more like a lost cause. I've been patient with them and tried to see their positive sides, but there's too much garbage like the above coming from there in recent times.

Four jailed for neo-Nazi killing spree that terrified Hungary's Roma

By Marton Dunai

BUDAPEST | Tue Aug 6, 2013 12:41pm BST

(Reuters) - A Hungarian court jailed four neo-Nazis on Tuesday for killing Roma families in a spree of racist violence in 2008 and 2009 that shocked the country and led to accusations that police had failed to protect an historically persecuted minority.

The gang killed six Roma and wounded several others in carefully planned attacks across the country over 13 months, creating a climate of fear for members of Hungary's largest ethnic minority. Roma, who make up about 7 percent of the population of 10 million, face widespread discrimination and often live in dire poverty.

Three men were jailed for life without parole and a fourth for 13 years, also without parole. The ruling can be appealed.

Judge Laszlo Miszori said the perpetrators saw themselves as vigilantes imposing "an ethnic-type solution" in revenge for crimes committed by Roma.

"To carry out their plans first they bought arms, then began to 'reinstall order', meaning armed attacks in places where Roma had committed crimes against Hungarians," the judge said.

In one of the attacks, several men set fire to a house at the edge of the dusty village of Tatarszentgyorgy, near a forest 30 minutes from Budapest, late at night on February 22, 2009.

When the inhabitants fled the burning building, the attackers shot dead Robert Csorba, a 29-year-old Roma man, and his 4-year-old son Robert Jr. A girl was also seriously wounded. The assailants fled.

Robert's mother Erzsebet Csorba told Reuters on the eve of the verdict that she looked forward to the closing of a chapter but had no faith it would deliver full justice, bring safety or ease tension between Roma and other Hungarians.

"It's just like it was four years ago," she said in Tatarszentgyorgy, seated on a stool below portraits of her slain son and grandson in the house where she lives next door to the charred remains of the building where they were killed.

"It might be harder for us because of all the heartache that made us numb to life, but we can't seem to get out of this racism, this poverty."

Peace of mind has been elusive. Strangers still come through the woods late at night and stalk her house, she said.

FEAR

Human Resources Minister Zoltan Balog, who is responsible for Roma inclusion, said the verdict "strengthens my belief that no perpetrators of racist crimes can escape the law in Hungary, and especially savage murderers pay a worthy penalty for their deeds".

"This is not a question of minority or majority: this is a question of human dignity," he said in a statement.

Police documents showed that the authorities dragged their feet in investigating the Tatarszentgyorgy attack, although the earlier killings had already unleashed fear throughout the Roma community for months.

The last attack in the spree occurred six months later when a young Roma woman was killed in eastern Hungary, after which the perpetrators were finally caught.

Roma have lived in Hungary for centuries and are now scattered mainly in rural areas in the northeast and south of the country.

The collapse of heavy industry after communism in 1989 hit the Roma hard. Unemployment is widespread, generations of Roma have grown up poor and illiterate, and some have resorted to petty crime to make ends meet.

Hostility towards them among many other Hungarians has helped fuel the rise of the far-right Jobbik party, which vilifies the Roma openly and won 17 percent of votes for parliament in 2010, becoming the third biggest party.

Some of that resentment could be felt in Tatarszentgyorgy's convenience store, where a question about the Roma drew knowing stares from shoppers, who complained that Roma lived on welfare, engaged in crime and had more children than they could afford. [In other words, Roma are Europe's version of niggers]

In his ruling, the judge said two of the killers, brothers Arpad and Istvan Kiss, had attended a swearing-in ceremony of a nationalist vigilante group set up set up by Jobbik, the Hungarian Guard, but had decided to embark on their own plans for attacks after concluding the group was ineffectual.

Back in 2009, the funeral of the slain Csorbas, father and son, was seen as an opportunity to encourage understanding between Roma and other Hungarians. Celebrities attended the service, but their presence did little to change attitudes, said Szilvia Varro, an activist who helped organise the funeral.

"We failed to make the case part of our shared history," she said. "Hungary typically suffers from a ghetto-like mentality in this way; there are our dead and their dead, and it's very hard to bridge that divide."

With another parliamentary election due next year, the Roma issue is becoming hot again, said Varro.

Her advocacy group Communication Centre X (XKK) released a series of video clips last month with well-known Hungarian actors reciting excerpts from the trial testimony, describing the killings while blood stains are shown spreading over them.

"The ruling is a good opportunity to reintroduce the issue," Varro said. "We filmed emotionally charged scenes because we wanted Hungarian viewers to feel it could have been their kids."
