INDIANAPOLIS – A juror's admission led to another mistrial in the high-profile case against a man charged with murdering Amanda Blackburn.

Larry Jo Taylor Jr. is accused of killing Blackburn during a home invasion in November 2015.

Taylor's trial was scheduled to begin Monday morning, but the jury was dismissed in a surprise move. A juror revealed to other members of the panel that she knew about the long-developing case and a previous mistrial. The juror had previously told the court she had no knowledge of the case.

Judge Grant Hawkins granted a motion for a mistrial requested by both the defense and prosecution, according to court records. The judge planned to confer with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office to see if the jury should face any disciplinary action.

ANDERSON, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - On Thursday an Upstate man pleaded guilty to his involvement in the 2020 slaying of a pregnant woman, resulting in the death of her unborn baby.

Ronnie Gaddis was one of four suspects who went to rob a home on Byron Circle on Feb. 13, 2020. The solicitor’s office said a man who lived there had posted about a stash of cash and drugs on social media.

During the robbery, gunfire was exchanged. Gaddis was the suspect who deputies said pulled the trigger, shooting 21-year-old Sabrina Lowery in the abdomen.

Lowery was pregnant and her baby, Shawn Alex James, was due soon. She was rushed to the hospital where she and the baby died during surgery.

Three woman who were walking along a Philadelphia street were beaten up by a man who went on to attack several other people in the city over a 24-hour period.

A doorbell surveillance camera captured the moment Malcolm White, 36, appeared to approach the trio from out of nowhere as he crossed the street to carry out a series brazen assaults in south Philly.

The three were walking in a line with White opting to sucker-punch the middle woman in the face, knocking her to the ground.

There was no time for her friends to react either to confront White or simply get out of the way as he proceeded to knock a second woman to the ground.

She toppled over falling into a trash can and ultimately landed against the wheels of a parked car.

'F*** you,' another of the women yelled before the man went after the third woman who had been leading the group.

She had turned around to assist her friend, but it only took split second before she was also pummeled and viciously punched as she attempted to stand her ground.

Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner on Monday pushed back on the notion that the city is gripped by a violent crime crisis, despite a record number of homicides in what has become the most deadly year in its history.

Krasner insisted that while gun violence is up, other violent crime categories are down.

“We don’t have a crisis of lawlessness, we don’t have a crisis of crime, we don’t have a crisis of violence,” the district attorney said at his weekly news briefing in South Philadelphia, noting that violent crimes committed without guns are down. “It’s important that we don’t let this become mushy and bleed into the notion that there is some kind of big spike in crime.”

For the last several years, billionaire philanthropist George Soros has been quietly financing a revolution in criminal justice reform, doling out tens of millions of dollars to progressive candidates in district attorney races throughout the country amid movements to abolish bail and defund the police.

Working with an activist attorney, Soros, 91, mainly funnels cash through a complicated web of federal and state political action committees as well as non-profits from coast to coast, public records show.

Last year, the Foundation to Promote Open Society, a nonprofit in Soros’ orbit, gave $3 million to the Community Resource Hub for Safety and Accountability, according to a recent report. The group provides resources to “local advocates and organizations working to address the harm of policing in the US.”

Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascón is expanding a program to drop criminal proceedings against juveniles charged with a range of felonies, according to a leaked memo.

The Restorative Enhanced Diversion for Youth (REDY) program was launched as a pilot basis last month, and Gascón is expanding it to cover a range of felony charges, according to the memo obtained by KTTV reporter Bill Melugin.

Under the expansion, youth would be eligible for 'diversion' after being charged with burglary, assault, vehicle theft, robbery, grand theft person, sexual battery, and arson, according to the memo.
