I do not own this material, merely feel the world of Youtube should not be denied of this brilliance – this clip is courtesy of RÚV, The Icelandic National Broadcasting Service http://www.ruv.is

Recent evidence dates complex stringed instruments in Europe at being 2000+ years old Recent evidence dates complex stringed instruments in Europe at being 2000+ years old

Cabinet Secretary for Culture Fiona Hyslop has revealed a small wooden fragment that it is believed comes from a lyre. It has been burnt and broken, but the notches where strings would have been placed are easy to distinguish on the artefact. Experts believe the remains are of the earliest stringed instrument ever found in Western Europe - dating to more than 2,300 years ago - at an excavation on the Island of Skye. Music archaeologists Dr Graeme Lawson and Dr John Purser studied the fragment which was discovered at High Pasture Cave Filmed at AOC Archaeology, Edinburgh

Das Ist Berlin! Das Ist Berlin!

Thought I would share this video showcasing the distinct beauty and architecture of the great historic city of Berlin. I especially love the music. Many will probably recognize the song playing as the same one from the film "Apt Pupil".

"The Wild Swans at Coole" by W.B. Yeats "The Wild Swans at Coole" by W.B. Yeats

Yeats did his most memorable work after the age of fifty, but it is imbued with thoughts of aging and regret for lost love and youth. "Their hearts have not grown old" is the significant line. Counting the swans is an occurrence that happens at intervals in his life, points on the calendar. I don't know which artist painted the swans.
