Yeah, that makes sense. They tried to bait the Russians in Ukraine a year ago and now this Syria campaign has been a huge propaganda victory for Russia as they have shown that they actually are serious in fighting ISIS and defending the Assad government (in accordance with international law no less).

As this isn't THAT big of an incident all things considered, there should be more coming, no? NATO/US couldn't seriously believe that Putin and his team would start lashing out irrationally all of a sudden because of this one incident? They've shown remarkable restraint with regards to Ukraine.
