A new Israeli airstrike on the besieged Gaza Strip has left at least three Palestinians martyred and 10 others injured. The overall death toll now stands at 33.

The Israeli airstrike on Friday hit an apartment in Gaza City’s al-Nasr neighborhood. Reports said a senior commander of Al-Quds Brigades was among those martyred in the attack. Al-Quds Brigades is the armed wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad

Al-Quds Brigades announced the martyrdom of Commander Iyad Al-Abd Al-Hassani (Abu Anas) – a member of the Military Council and leader of the Brigades' operations unit.

Gaza’s health ministry said the Israeli aggression has so far martyred 33 people, including six children and three women, and injured 111 others.

Islamic Jihad has vowed to strike targets deep inside Israel in response to the targeting of residential homes in Gaza.

The Israeli regime has been continuously bombarding the strip over the past four days, assassinating several resistance commanders in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Palestinian resistance unleashes fury onto Israel

In response to the killing of a fifth Islamic Jihad leader, the Palestinian resistance has continued to target Israel with missiles, including in Jerusalem and the West Bank

By News Desk - May 12 2023

In response to Israel’s assassination of a fifth resistance commander on the afternoon of 11 May, Ahmad Abu Daqqa of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s (PIJ) Al-Quds Brigade, also known as Abu Hamza, the Palestinian resistance fired several successive rocket barrages into the settlements around the Gaza Strip, as well as into Tel Aviv and south of it.

Abu Daqqa was the deputy of Ali al-Ghali, the PIJ leader killed in Gaza’s Khan Yunis that same day. The assassination came soon after the PIJ announced in a statement that it would not stop fighting until its terms, the release of hunger-striker Khader Adnan’s body, and an end to Israel’s “assassination policy” – were met.

Palestinian rocket fire picked up from the night before on the afternoon of 11 May, in response to the killing of Ghali very early that morning.

Following the news of Abu Daqqa’s killing, massive rocket attacks began to target several Israeli settlements.

Israel freezes ceasefire talks over rocket strikes on Jerusalem

An Israeli military officer was quoted as saying that ‘Israel will not negotiate while under attack’

By News Desk - May 12 2023

In response to the resistance’s rocket-fire on the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem on 12 May – an unprecedented development – a senior diplomatic source was quoted by Israeli media as saying that ceasefire talks have been “frozen,” pledging a “significant” response from Israel.

“And if we need to escalate, we’ll do it,” the source added.

Additionally, the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has released an announcement that “Israel has stopped the truce talks.”

Israeli military officer Ghassan Alian reportedly informed the Egyptians that the ceasefire talks have come to an end.

“Israel will not negotiate while under attack,” Alian was quoted as saying by Ynet news.

Earlier on Friday, it was claimed by Israeli media that the military establishment was considering ending its attacks on Gaza and focusing on trying to ‘thwart’ the rocket attacks, which have been ongoing.

Throughout Friday morning, rocket strikes from the Gaza Strip continued to target Sederot, Ashkelon, and other settlements and sites.

At approximately noon, however, a number of rockets landed in the vicinity of the holy city, triggering sirens, prompting settlers to begin fleeing, and taking Israel by surprise.

12,000 Israelis flee settlements around Gaza in fear of Palestinian rockets

Thousands of Israeli settlers have reportedly fled illegal settlements around the Gaza Strip in fear of retaliatory rocket fires from the Palestinian resistance movements.

Lebanon's al-Manar television channel, citing Israeli sources, reported on Saturday that 12,000 settlers have run away from the areas in recent days, saying that the evacuation plan will continue until next Tuesday.

A few days ago, the Hebrew-language Yedioth Ahronoth daily newspaper reported that 4,500 Israelis were expected to run away from the southern city of Sderot because they were extremely worried about the massive rocket fires by the Palestinian resistance groups in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the Israeli military has extended the state of emergency in the occupied territories until next Tuesday, anticipating that the resistance groups will continue their retaliatory attacks.

Palestinian ministry demands global action to stop Israel’s atrocities in Gaza

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry says resolute international action is needed to force Israel to end its atrocities in the besieged Gaza Strip.

In a statement on Saturday, the ministry demanded that crossings into Gaza reopen in order to allow entry of medical and food supplies as well as fuel and other essential commodities.

It underscored the racist trend followed by Israeli regime authorities, not least the so-called National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who favor more murders and reoccupation of Gaza.

The ministry said it came as a surprise how the international community has kept silent under the current circumstances. It cautioned against potentially dangerous repercussions of global inaction.

Ceasefire reached in Gaza as resistance declares victory

Israel has reportedly agreed to halt assassinations against PIJ leaders in the Gaza Strip

By News Desk - May 14 2023

A ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian resistance factions in Gaza, mediated by Egypt, Qatar, and the UN, was reached on the evening of 13 May, putting an end to five days of battle.

The ceasefire document includes pledges to “stop targeting civilians and demolishing homes, as well as targeting individuals,” in line with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) movement’s demand that Israel cease the ‘assassination policy’ against its leaders.

“Egypt urges the two parties to implement the agreement and is working to follow up on that by communicating with them,” the ceasefire document adds.

On 9 May, Israel assassinated three top PIJ leaders, killing their families along with them in early morning air raids on their homes in the Gaza Strip. In response to the massacre, Palestinian missiles began to rain down on Tel Aviv and the settlements and cities surrounding Gaza, coinciding with continued indiscriminate aerial attacks on the besieged enclave by the Israeli air force.

The crossfire evolved into a full-scale battle, dubbed the Battle of “The Revenge of the Free” by the resistance. As Israel continued to pound Gaza over the next few days, killing three more PIJ leaders and several civilians, rocket-fire remained persistent – with several successive barrages launched daily into the occupied territories and reaching as far as the holy occupied city of Jerusalem.

Two Israelis have been confirmed dead, with dozens injured as a result of the resistance’s rocket-fire. According to the Israeli army, over 1,200 rockets were fired at the occupied territories. Significant material damages to homes and other property were inflicted.

In the Gaza Strip, Israel’s “Shield and Arrow” operation resulted in the killing of 33 Palestinians and the injury of dozens since Tuesday. There has been massive damage to infrastructure, and several civilian homes have been destroyed.

Israel aimed to eradicate Islamic Jihad, bring resistance groups to knees but failed: Analyst

The Israeli regime, by its recent onslaught on the besieged Gaza Strip, aimed to eradicate the Islamic Jihad resistance movement and bring other Palestinian resistance groups to their knees, but failed, according to a Lebanese political analyst.

Faysal Abdel Sater made the comment in an exclusive interview with Press TV Website after the Tel Aviv regime launched a deadly bombing campaign on Gaza on May 9, sparking the firing of over 1,000 rockets by the Islamic Jihad toward the occupied territories.

The two sides agreed after five days of fighting to an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire that took effect on Saturday night.

Israeli aerial assaults killed at least 33 Palestinians in Gaza, including six children, and wounded 147, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Several Islamic Jihad leaders were also among the Palestinian martyrs of the latest conflict, which marked the worst episode of fighting between Gaza’s resistance factions and Israel since a 10-day war in 2021.

“Israel tried to bring the Palestinian resistance forces to their knees by [seeking to] destroy the Islamic Jihad movement,” Abdel Sater said.

Describing the aggression as part of Israel's measures to eradicate the Islamic Jihad movement by assassinating its commanders, the Lebanese analyst said, “The criminal and extremist cabinet [of Benjamin Netanyahu] did not achieve its goals because the Islamic Jihad movement managed to engage Israelis by continuous firing of missiles within six days and creating nights full of fear and worry for the settlers.”

Israel's Western backers complicit in Tel Aviv's crimes: Iranian president

Wednesday, 17 May 2023 2:50 AM [ Last Update: Wednesday, 17 May 2023 3:21 AM ]

Iran's President Ebrahim Raeisi (Photo by President.ir)

Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi has denounced the Israeli regime's Western supporters' abetment in Tel Aviv's crimes against the oppressed Palestinian people.

The chief executive made the remarks in a message issued on Tuesday on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Nakba (Catastrophe) Day.

The Israeli regime claimed existence on that day in 1948 after occupying huge swathes of Palestinian territories in a Western-backed war.

"Since the day that has been rightly named as the 'Day of Catastrophe,' the Zionist regime has brought about displacement of millions of Palestinians and [enabled] targeted killings of Palestinian activists and ordinary people," read the message.

Ever since, the occupying regime has also caused the destruction of Palestinians' houses, farms, and businesses, and been responsible for violation of the fundamental principles of the international law against them, it added.

"It is obvious that the regime's Western supporters, especially the United States, are complicit in its crimes," Raeisi stated.

The regime has successfully avoided all sorts of accountability for its actions targeting the Palestinians and other peoples of the region thanks to steadfast support on the part of Washington, which has invariably vetoed all of the United Nations resolutions holding Tel Aviv responsible for the atrocities.

Default Calgary Peace Prize going to Palestinian poet who spews "hate against Jews"

"The Anti-Defamation League has called Mohammed El-Kurd an “unvarnished, vicious antisemite.” Yet in spite of widely available evidence attesting to his prominence as a hatemonger, Mount Royal University in Canada chose to award the writer with the 2023 Calgary Peace Prize.

Now the International Legal Forum (ILF) has sent a letter urging the reversal of this decision."

"Some of the statements El-Kurd has made over the years include calling Zionists “sadistic barbaric neo-Nazi pigs” who have “completely internalized the ways of the Nazis.” He also said that he fantasized about this fate: “I hope every one of them dies in the most torturous & slow ways. I hope that they see their mothers suffering.”

Israeli forces have demolished a residential building in Silwan neighborhood in eastern al-Quds, displacing 50 residents.

The Palestinian Wafa news agency quoted local sources as saying the building was destroyed under the pretext that it had been built without a permit.

The regime had handed the residents of the building’s seven housing units an evacuation order in 2018.

Israeli military forces have wounded 13 Palestinian youths and arrested 14 others during a raid on a refugee camp in the eastern West Bank city of Ariha, amid rising violence in the occupied territories.

Palestine’s official Wafa news agency, citing local sources, reported on Thursday that Israeli troops stormed the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp from several directions on Thursday and deployed snipers on the rooftops.

The regime’s forces raided more than 50 homes, including the ones belonging to the governor of Jericho and the Jordan Valley and his sons, and fired rockets at a Palestinian house after surrounding it.

The sources added that Israeli forces then fired live rounds at Palestinian youths and injured 13 people, with one in critical condition.

Egyptian policeman kills 3 IDF soldiers in border shootings; is shot dead

Army probing how attacker infiltrated into country, motivation; 2 troops were killed in border guard post before second deadly exchange of fire hours later in Israeli territory

An Egyptian policeman shot and killed two Israeli soldiers who were manning a guard post near the border on Saturday morning, the military said. The Israel Defense Forces said there was a further exchange of fire in the area hours later, inside Israeli territory, in which the gunman and another IDF soldier were killed.

The incidents occurred between Mount Sagi and Mount Harif in the Negev desert. The circumstances were under investigation by the military, including how the gunman, an Egyptian policeman, managed to infiltrate Israel from Egypt.

The Egyptian army said in a statement that an officer in charge of border security chased after suspects involved in alleged drug smuggling. “During the pursuit, he crossed the security barrier and an exchange of fire began, in which three Israeli security personnel were killed,” it said, adding that it wished to convey “sincere condolences” to the families of the victims.

The Israel-Egypt border has been largely peaceful since the two countries signed a peace agreement in 1979, Israel’s first with an Arab state. In the past decade, Israel built a large barrier along the border, largely aimed at keeping out African migrants and Islamic terrorists who operate in Egypt’s Sinai.

Israel fears ‘multi-front war’ following Egypt border attack

The attack by an Egyptian policeman which killed three Israeli soldiers complements recent attacks by resistance forces against Israel from Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon

By News Desk - June 04 2023

When an Egyptian wearing a police uniform killed 3 Israeli soldiers in two separate instances early Saturday 3 June, initial reports suggested a link to a drug smuggling bust carried out by the Israeli military near the border fence area between Israel and Egypt the night before.

However, as additional details emerged, the attacker, who himself was killed Saturday as well, appears to have carried out a well-planned operation targeting Israeli soldiers.

This has raised fears among Israeli commentators that the attack was part of a “multi-front war” being waged by resistance forces in Gaza, the West Bank, and Lebanon, and supported by Iran, which “weakens Israeli deterrence,” Al-Mayadeen reported on Sunday 4 June.

As Al-Mayadeen notes, the Egyptian policeman crossed the border fence and penetrated 1.5 km inside the occupied territories, where he shot and killed three Israeli soldiers as a part of three separate ambushes, according to Israeli media.

“The Egyptian policeman did not enter the border through a hole in the fence and did not climb it, but entered through an emergency corridor designated for the passage of Israeli forces to the Egyptian side of the border in case of need,” Israeli media reported.

The attacker then set up an ambush where he killed the first two soldiers early Saturday morning. Hours later, he set up a second ambush and killed a third Israeli soldier while targeting the reinforcements which arrived looking for the missing unit.

“It was a drone that later spotted the policeman, who was one and a half kilometers deep inside the border after he infiltrated, and the confrontation and exchange of fire began with him then, where he managed to kill the third soldier,” Israeli media further reported.

In the third ambush, the attacker again confronted Israeli reinforcements and was himself killed in the clash.

Israeli Channel 12 journalist Tamir Steinman said: “We remained with the difficult questions related to the incident,” asking, “How can it happen that an Egyptian policeman infiltrated into Israel and killed two soldiers without causing any disturbance, and after that, it took so long until the army discovered that there was an exceptional incident.”

Israeli political commentator, Ari Shavit told Channel 13 that an incident of this kind “unfortunately raises questions, as the process cannot be separated from a period in which we are talking about multiple arenas, meaning that our enemies are trying to heat up all fronts.”

Israeli forces have deliberately shot a Palestinian photojournalist in the head as he was covering the demolition of a Palestinian-owned home during a military raid in the occupied West Bank.

Momen Samreen was hit in the head by a rubber bullet despite wearing press attire in the West Bank city of Ramallah on Thursday, after Israeli military stormed the area and started to demolish the four-story house of Palestinian prisoner Islam Froukh, displacing its residents, Palestine’s official Wafa news agency reported.

Samreen was covering the demolition process when he was shot and transferred to the hospital in serious condition.

‘Collective punishment’: Israel demolishes Palestinian homes

Israel’s policy of demolishing the family homes of Palestinians accused of attacking Israelis is considered a war crime.

Israel blew up the family home of Palestinian prisoner Islam Faroukh on June 8, 2023 [Aziza Nofal/ Al Jazeera]

By Maram Humaid and Aziza Nofal
Published On 10 Jun 2023

Ramallah – At dawn on Thursday, Israeli forces stormed Ramallah city in the occupied West Bank and blew up the family home of a Palestinian prisoner.

The large contingent of Israeli soldiers poured into Ramallah al-Tahta (lower Ramallah) in the Old City area, cordoning off the family home of 27-year-old Islam Faroukh.

According to residents, the Israelis spent hours planting explosives that later pulverised the Faroukh family’s apartment.

Video footage of the operation showed soldiers painstakingly planting explosives in the walls of the home before the massive blast that turned the spacious apartment to ruins and rubble, while also blowing out the windows of homes in the neighbourhood.

“My son is still under arrest and has not been tried yet,” Islam’s mother Abeer Faroukh told Al Jazeera.

“How is the house blown up in such a way that affected the whole neighbourhood, before a fair trial for my son?” she asked.

With her son innocent until proven guilty in court, Abeer Faroukh says the “real crime” was the destruction of the family’s home and the damage done to the neighbourhood.

Demolishing the homes of Palestinians “suspected of carrying out attacks” on Israelis is a long-held practice of Israel. Thousands of Palestinian people have lost their homes to demolitions in what human rights groups say is a policy by Israel of “collective punishment” that may amount to war crimes.

Global silence encourages Israel to annex West Bank: Palestinian Foreign Ministry

Sunday, 11 June 2023 6:37 PM [ Last Update: Sunday, 11 June 2023 7:27 PM ]

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry says the international community’s silence encourages the Israeli regime to consolidate occupation of the West Bank.

In a statement released on Sunday, the ministry said the ongoing violations committed by the Israeli army and settlers in the occupied West Bank, including East al-Quds, amount to crimes against humanity.

The ministry believes Israel continues to formalize the official annexation of the occupied West Bank, and takes all legal, structural and field legislative measures to achieve this, in full view of the international community, and without fear of punishment, criticism or accountability.

Under Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s previous terms, the regime sped up annexing Palestinian lands in order to expand settlement projects.

Emboldened by the United States’ all-out support, Israel has stepped up settlement expansion in defiance of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2334, which pronounced settlements in the West Bank and East al-Quds “a flagrant violation under international law.”
