Germany 1938 (Movie) In 1938 Theodore Andrica, the Nationalities Editor of the Cleveland Press and author of the "Around the World in Cleveland" column, paid a visit to Nazi Germany. As part of his journey he shot this astonishing film which shows what appears to be the pastoral German state, but was actually a nation on the brink of war. Unlike many of the films from this era which have been colorized, Andrica actually shot this motion picture on Kodachrome stock. Although the material is silent the footage is astonishing, and includes no less personage than Adolf Hitler in its closing sequence. Rarely seen, this material was once thought to be lost. This print was recently rediscovered and preserved in 4k. The film most likely dates to the time of the annual Nuremberg Rally. In 1938 this was the 10th Party Congress named the "Rally of Greater Germany" (Reichsparteitag Großdeutschland, and took place September 5–12). This was due to the annexation of Austria to Germany that had taken place earlier in the year. The film showcases Nuremberg in all its finery for the event. At :20 the city gate Konigstor is seen, and at :27 the Neutor. At :38 what is now the Le Méridien Grand Hotel Nuremberg is shown. This film is part of the Periscope Film LLC archive, one of the largest historic military, transportation, and aviation stock footage collections in the USA. Entirely film backed, this material is available for licensing in 24p HD. For more information visit http://www.PeriscopeFilm.com Last edited by Lutador Branco; May 18th, 2021 at 12:07 PM. |

They made the graphics in the thumbnail look like it's a horror movie. Was that necessary?

Comrade Ray, there is another copy of the film whose thumbnail is better, but the image quality of the film is inferior: Last edited by Lutador Branco; May 17th, 2021 at 09:14 AM. |

The site of the attack on Hitler in Munich, Germany, on November 8, 1939, at the Bürgerbräukeller.
Thank God he had left the scene minutes before. |

Goering's country house.
Hermann Goering's housekeeper interviewed - FRIEDA ZYCHSKI remembers her time on the Obersalzberg BEGAFILM - HISTORY IN MOTION Frieda Zychski and her husband came to Hermann Göring's country house on Obersalzberg in 1937 as caretakers. In this interview from 1991, the former housekeeper impressively reports for the first time about life in the house of the Reich Minister. In 1938, the house was enlarged because Göring's family moved from Berlin to Obersalzberg. In the course of the renovation work, an air raid shelter was also built under the house. In this context, disagreements arose with Reichsleiter Martin Bormann, which were to come to a head until the end of the war. Zychski reports on the daily routine in Göring's country house, as well as on the bombing of Obersalzberg and the arrest of the Reichsmarschall due to an intrigue by Bormann. Göring was deported to Austria for security reasons and was captured by U.S. troops a short time later. On May 1, 1945 Zychski and her family returned to the bombed-out Obersalzberg and took up quarters in the appartment of former Luftwaffe Adjutant General Bodenschatz in Göring's adjutant's office. In these rooms, where this Interview was recorded, time seems to have stood still since 1945. Besides the rooms themselves, most of the furnishings was still from that time. Thank you for participating, Comrade Gladiatrix.
It was a place where the Reichsmarschall could relax a bit with family and friends... |

For people to know Hitler better: Lieutenant Colonel Engelhard reported that in 1914, in World War I, Private Hitler and an orderly soldier from the General Staff stood right in front of him to protect him, with their own bodies, from enemy machine-gun fire. And records report that the trench runner Hitler was sent on missions frequently under machine gun and artillery fire several times. |

BEGAFILM - HISTORY IN MOTION
Interview with Adolf Hitler's adjutant Fritz Darges, recorded in 1997. In this interview, Fritz Darges, one of the most important contemporary witnesses from Hitler's inner leadership staff, gives the first impressive account of his time as Hitler's personal adjutant. Until 1944, Darges worked alongside Hitler at the Führer's headquarters and on the Obersalzberg, interrupted by training courses and a deployment to the front. Like probably no other, he got to know Hitler both as a politician and as a private citizen, and in this interview he reveals his knowledge in front of the camera for the first time.
