Serb protesters in Zvecan threw tear gas and stun grenades at NATO soldiers. Serbs also clashed with police in Zvecan and spray-painted NATO vehicles with the letter "Z", referring to a Russian sign used in war in Ukraine.
In Leposavic, close to the border with Serbia, U.S. peacekeeping troops in riot gear placed barbed wire around the town hall to protect it from hundreds of angry Serbs.
Later in the day protesters threw eggs at a parked car belonging to the new Leposavic mayor.

Ethnic Albanians make up more than 90% of the population in Kosovo as a whole, but northern Serbs have long demanded the implementation of an EU-brokered 2013 deal for the creation of an association of autonomous municipalities in their area.
Serbs refused to take part in local elections in April and ethnic Albanian candidates won the mayoralties in four Serb-majority municipalities - including North Mitrovica, where no incidents were reported on Monday - with a 3.5% turnout.
Serbs demand that the Kosovo government remove ethnic Albanian mayors from town halls and allow local administrations financed by Belgrade return to their duties.
On Friday, three out of four mayors were escorted into their offices by police, who were pelted with rocks and responded with tear gas and water cannon to disperse the protesters.

The problem is that the Serb population in north Kosovo has been totally disarmed by NATO, and the Serbian state never allowed for any smuggling of weapons into the area for Serbs to use against the invader.

We need machine guns sniper rifles RPGs hand grenades etc etc so that we can kill NATO troops, but no one , not even Russia, has provided it.

maybe Serbia should ask about Lukashenko's offer to former Soviet States to host nuclear weapons and become de-facto Russian protectorates; once nato shitbags are removed Serbia will easily solve the squip-terrorist issue..

In the mid-1990s I was in the Army Reserve and in a medical unit, and a lot of us worried about being called up for Bosnia, etc. We had some Colonel show up, a very cheery guy to talk about being called-up. he'd been in Bosnia, and was overjoyed.

"Look," he said, "forget about all this talk of limiting troops going to the Balkans. We're going to be there (smile, smile) for a LONG time. We've only just started, and all kinds of units are going to be called up."

He was a happy warrior, bragging about clearing mine fields, delivering food, controlling hostile villagers, making people happy with medical care and patrolling and keeping the Serbians away.

The next day I went into the inactive reserve. I also learned that what the government and Pentagon said was a lie about keeping out. They really licked their chops over "policing" and, as the military calls it, "maintaining the peace."
