Parliamentary Report: Inquiry into Australia's Relationship with the Countries of Africa
http://www.aph.gov.au/house/committe...009/report.htm
I read Chapter 3 "Australia's Aid Program" and Chapter 8 "Africans in Australia" in depth. Not surprisingly, Chapter 3 was all about Australia's "international obligations" under the "Millennium Development Goals" and the "Accra accord" and what-not, rather than the will of the Australian people, and was sickeningly apologetic for Australia's "modest contributions" to African aid. Chapter 8 was funny, starting out by berating Australia for "draining medical staff" from Africa through a "skilled migration program", but then proceeding to catalogue the problems in the community caused by unskilled "humanitarian" African migrant entrants. Of course, these "challenges" need to be overcome through "education" of the wider community and increased assistance to new entrants. |
